Theme Music is now mandatory The dank passageway turns quickly from stone to steel, and the built-in glowing lanterns have turned to primitive steampunk light bulbs. The corridor branches out, and the strangest sight thus far reveals itself: factories and machinery as far as the eye can see. Buckets of iron pipes and stone tools can be seen near the entrance, and light bulbs are present throughout the space that can be seen, though none are lit up... just as well, since this place must be ancient. A small, fenced courtyard occupies the area around this entrance, and beyond the massive gate arch, it's factories for hundreds of yards. Edited by BatiroAtrain, Mar 9 2014, 12:02 AM.

The Conkeldurr isn't as shocked as Inei thinks he would be... hmm. The tiny Timburr immediately runs to grab the elemental stone and fragments, presenting them to the Conkeldurr with a expression of joy on its face. The Conk takes the spare parts, and goes to a closet to grab something. He takes a massive key from his belt, and unlocks the closet with it... pulling out a steel bow. He sets the weapon down on the table, along with the stone and shards... looks like he has an idea. The large steel door finally opens, and inside is a dimly-lit passageway with stains and puddles all over the place... a stark contrast to the clean, hygienic atmosphere that was preserved in the rooms before. The passageway is a long one, with similar steel doors on every side, with locks of different makes. Eventually, the two come upon one door that's cracked slightly open. |

Jones will carefully edge the door open, shining in his flashlight, with Ursula at the ready. Do any of the other locks seem like the key that he has would fit in them? Perception: [result]15&5:2:4:1,4d6,3,15&4d6+3[/result] Edited by Lockdown, Mar 10 2014, 03:37 PM.

All these locks are different; namely, much smaller. The key wouldn't even fit in them from size alone. Jones's flashlight shines on yet another grisly sight. A human skeleton, strapped with chains onto a stone slab acting as a table. Eep. It's surrounded by two other skeletons, which clutch ancient papers in a dead, incomprehensible language. The strapped-in skeleton has a primitive glass syringe-like device stuck in its rib. |

Jones chokes down bile as he looks over the scene. "Mother of Mew, this place is some kind of medical experimentation facility! Stefan, help me look and see if we can find any keys on these skeletons. I'm going to try and take that syringe and the papers, they may be worth something and might tell us more about what happened here." Perception: [result]19&4:3:6:3,4d6,3,19&4d6+3[/result] (Do I need to roll anything to try and grab the papers and the syringe?) |

Stefan steels himself, trying to distance his association with the humanity dead here. He nudges aside some of the bones before using his hands to pick through the remains. Perception: [result]17&4:6:4:2,4d6,1,17&4d6+1[/result] |

Jones indeed finds a key on one of the unstrapped skeletons! It has a triangle-shaped head... should be easy to find the lock it goes to. The syringe is empty, but the fluid it contained seems to have leaked onto the table through the needle. Stefan finds himself a wrench next to the other unstrapped skeleton's waist... maybe he was some kind of worker. |

Stefan tests the weight of the wrench, but leaves it where he is. He's not quite as ready to jump to the worst possible conclusion. "Well, either this guy was in here while they were doing. . . whatever. Or they were beating him with a wrench. If this is a torture chamber, though, why are the torturers here? What if this was just a regular hospital when. . . whatever happened happened?" |

Jones shrugs. "I have no idea. Found a key over here though. Might lead us to something else that could explain this mess. I'm going to see if I can get some of this residue for someone to look at." Jones takes out a pocketknife and a ziplock sandwich baggie from his pack and scrapes some of the residue from the syringe into the bag. He takes the syringe as well; there may be more of the stuff still inside the ampule. After he's done with that he'll carefully take both the papers and the key; securing the papers in his pack and holding the key gingerly. "Right, let's go. Lookc or any padlocks that have triangular shapes for the keyhole." (I'm assuming that there's no actual fluid on the table since it would have evaporated away by now, if this isn't the case, I'll rewrite the post to reflect that.)
