Theme music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaPf-MRKITg Spoiler: click to toggle A decently large tent is built into the rock wall of the Antechamber. A sign hangs above it with thick, block letters that says The Back Alley. The inside is roomy and nice, with a small bar built across the back, where Merchant sits with tools and Pokeballs for sale. Various tables dot the room, where people can mingle and relax (and do business). A back room sits behind the bar, but nobody has ever seen, much less been, inside. A large blackboard hangs above him, with deals and offers written across it. The silent man gets to work as soon as he enters the tent, throwing up the skeleton of a giant machine with 16 slots. |

Merchant nods and directs the man, showing him where he wants the two machines. From there, he gets to work with warming the eggs, and breeding new ones. Meanwhile, he Hatcher treats each one. 4d6+5 succeeds on a 12. 1-4 give the male (right), 5-20 give female (left). Stefan enters the Back Alley and is momentarily dumbstruck by the magnitude of the operation. Shaking off his surprise, he strides to the counter. "What's this I hear about you causing riots?" |

"Ah, Stephen, hello hello. Merchant defeated Fatman and two Smallfatmans in single duel with Waterball and won. The other 80 smallfatmen were not happy. All settled now! Left for some reason or something. But that is unimportant. Many eggs for sale now all treated for quality, building egg chamber in back room for faster hatching. Soon will be building Pokemon Center Recovery Machine here too! Very productive day. What can Merchant do for you? " |

Stefan grins in spite of himself. It was obvious that Merchant had meant no harm. "I'm here to pick up the other Pokemon. And to offer Pokemon for sale, trade, or loan." He puts the balls on the table, all but one. "I have a new paras, and something quite special" |

Merchant's body freezes completely. "...Merchant did not return the pokemon this morning!" The masked man hurries into the back before returning with a number of pokeballs. "Merchant is very sorry, he prides himself on following through contracts. As apology, here." The salesman hands over a list of the eggs, similar to the one on the blackboard. Spoiler: click to toggle "Choose any of the eggs, and Merchant will fit it to your specifications and give it free upon hatch. He will adjust its personality and make it better just for you. Merchant is gravely sorry." He hangs his head down low, as grief drips from his voice. After a brief pause, however, he looks back up at the rest of the balls Stephen set out. "Ah, of course of course. Merchant is always open to selling, trading, or loaning, and he has more stock to offer as well." Merchant pulls out a literal bag of pokeballs, almost two dozen of them. He has a similar list to the previous one that he hands over after crossing out a few names. Spoiler: click to toggle "If Stephen is not interested in an Egg, you may choose one of the non-crossed pokemon on this list to have for free, to make up for my grievious error before. After you choose, however, what is it you've got to sell, trade, or loan?" Edited by Anonyman, Nov 21 2013, 05:43 PM.

Stefan is entirely disarmed by Merchant's apparent humility. "Its okay. I didn't need them. That yanma sounds interesting, though. If you can spare that, I'd like that." He unconsciously picks up Merchant's speech pattern as they talk business. "I come to you before I offer trades with the others. I don't need more than six. . . I don't really need more than one, but six is safe. I don't know if you had a chance to breed each pokemon I have, and even if you don't want it for breeding you might be able to turn a profit. I'd prefer trades over pure pokeyen, but there is always a price. Cheaper to rent than to buy outright." He gestures towards each pokeball in turn. "The rs totodile, of course. Quite precious to me, but you can always take him back. Then my abnormals. . . water poison ball, grass mouse, and fire bat. I estimate 1800 to sell them. Camel and mushroom bug, only 400 to buy." His finger lingers on the last pokeball, a dark purple, green, and black sphere. "A big mushroom bug. Part ground. Resistant to fire and very strong. I am reluctant to trade him permanently, and I think I can sell him for 3000 to Fir. Willing to loan him, though." |

Merchant hands over the pokeball with the Yanma inside. <Level 10, Adamant w/Compoundeyes, Male > "Merchant takes breach of contract very seriously. Merchant will be happy to buy Camel for 400, and the Grassmouse for 1800 as well. Merchant also open to trading anything desired on this list for discount as well, perhaps one rarer nonshift of choice and 900 Pyen for the mouse instead of full 1800? Sadly the other pokemon Merchant could sell in town tomorrow, but not until then, and he has no matches for them to breed open. As for an irregular mushroom bug, 3000 is very good price! Merchant does not believe he could match it, and advises you to take it or keep bug." |
