DAY IV The Antechamber seems strangely more alive this fourth morning. A few faces aside from the typical researchers are spotted in the Antechamber crowd... younger faces, it seems. The shops are all open for business! Antechamber Shops

Stefan groans quietly as the powder causes Krieger to stagger. Paralyzed and sleepy? No way. He moves in and uses a full heal on his pokemon. He had hoped to conserve his resources, but he couldn't win if his pokemon weren't awake. Stefan has Medic Training as an edge, so Krieger will go after Butterfree with Metal Claw! [result]13&13,1d20,0,13&1d20[/result] versus 3, 18+ boosts Attack. [result]32&3:2,2d6,27,32&2d6+27[/result] Steel. |

The Butterfree once again hits the ground, but attempts to get in one last attack. It screeches at Krieger with an otherworldly squeal... Supersonic: [result]11&8,1d20,3,11&1d20+3[/result] AC10 |

Krieger shudders as the shrill sound reverberates in his skull, undoing the effects of his earlier Iron Defense move. At Stefan's command, he attempts to end this battle before he is worn down any further. Metal Claw [result]6&6,1d20,0,6&1d20[/result] versus 3. 18+ boosts attack. [result]35&3:5,2d6,27,35&2d6+27[/result] damage. |

The Butterfree goes down, and the bug trainer instantly recalls the poor thing. "Wow... that wasn't good." He steps back in line. The two defeated trainers now eye their larger friend. He seems pretty hesitant... a good glare may get Stefan out of another quick battle. |

Stefan sees the hesitation and takes the chance to talk. "See? You've got potential, kids, but you're still inexperienced. You should have started with the butterfree and softened up my pokemon for clefairy to have a chance. Now you've got two knocked out pokemon and Krieger here hasn't even been scratched." He takes a step back, allowing room for the pokemon to rumble once more if necessary. Krieger doesn't budge. He doesn't want these kids to think this is personal, so he tries to slip an offer in. "Feel free to come in the mornings for training tips. I might even do private sessions if you catch some pokemon for me. Heck, crack open your piggybanks and maybe you can adopt one of those cool pokemon from my friend Merchant." Now he fixes his glare on the largest of the trio. The kid is tall, but Stefan is taller. "But try to get in those doors again and I'll take everything you got. I'll let you live today, though. I'll only knock out your pokemon. How much does that mean to you, kid?" Intimidate Check: [result]8&2:4,2d6,2,8&2d6+2[/result] |

The large kid's focus is broken, and he quickly nopes out, recalling his Bonsly. "Not today..." he remarks with a quiet voice. The three children, defeated, turn toward the door, but the yellow-hatted kid looks back at Stefan, and points. "We'll be back... and we'll beat you!" With that, all three children bolt. |

Stefan watches them go. They were inexperienced, overly confident, and irritating, but they had some decent pokemon that were missing from his pokedex, and they likely had some petty cash or useful items. He had given them fair warning, and had every intention of taking everything he could from them. . . next time. "You had better be telling the truth," he remarks quietly to noone in particular. Realizing he is now alone on the scene, he considers his next course of action. Would Fir reward him for chasing the runts off? Not likely if he knew how he had done it. His arrangement with Merchant had ended as well, so now he was on his own. He had not seen evidence of a fourth chamber, and so that left him to extract the secrets of the currently known one. The slumbering monstrosity. Their fellow explorer had told he and Merchant that harassing the paras in the greenhouse would provoke something big. If he could bring it down, well, he'd prove Merchant wrong, and he'd prove that he was not the weaker member of the pair. He needed to prepare, and his first stop was Merchant's tent. . . which was closed. Without breaking in, he'd have to come across Merchant to get his pokemon back and would have to buy supplies from the other shops at a less favorable price. His options limited, he stopped by the other tents before heading to the Greenhouse, grumbling about their lack of a paralysis heal. Spoiler: click to toggle |

The muscular Pokemon, sitting around currently, are startled by Merchant's running back, and promptly follow his commands. The door is shut... just as 80 angry feet are storming the Foyer. Fir emerges from a tent, and approaches Merchant with some shock. "What the... what the hell did you do?!" |

Merchant looks up excitedly, his woobat flopping on the ground, its fire dimming. "Merchant WON." He opens up three pokeballs, summoning two disoriented Makuhita, and one angry and confused Hariyama, eyes (and body) ablaze. He calls them all back in before they can throw a punch. "Merchant and Waterball beat them in duels. Caught them. Smallfatman not yet fire-shifted, but Fatman fully fire. Also, very very strong." |
