The marble architecture leading down the sparkling passage becomes more articulate the further on it goes, from a few wavy lines to a full-on ocean mural, depicting many aquatic Pokemon. The odd sparkling light reflects off of all sides, despite any source nearby... that is soon changed, however, when the passage fans outward to a bright, noisy clearing. The tunnel ends atop a set of stairs leading downward a meter, which itself leads to a marble platform carved into the wall on this side of the chamber. The platform is essentially a stone dock; the rest of the chamber, under the level of that dock, is filled with water. How far down cannot be discerned, but what is certain is that this place was once tall and majestic. The tips of massive stonework buildings peak out of the surface of the water, waves crashing softly against the masonry. The tops of lower buildings form platforms that can be traversed with hearty jumps. Just as well, some buildings poke out even taller, gaining a story of space above the water level. Above the water, the chamber resonates a white-blue reflection of the deep. Lanterns are strung up instead of being bolted to the wall, and the far wall stretches upward at an angle to meet the back wall in a triangle formation. The chamber is actually quite large as far as forward-backward goes, but who knows how far down it goes? |

Rippleweave gets a look at the darting shadow... and it's just a few peaceful Finneon. Nothing to stress about. Jones sees the water still kind of low, but filling back up slowly. Nothing else seems out of the ordinary... |

If the water is high enough, Jones will pull out his flashlight, dive in, and release Neil. After which, he's going to make a beeline for the bottom, and see what he can find in the depths. |

Diving straight down, even in this half-full water, quickly envelops Jones in darkness. The goggles don't help as well here. (Perception) |

Hmm, just a few fish? Perhaps Barnaby could finish that fishing bout once he got onto shore. But first thing's first, that ice is calling for investigation! |

(38) Jones hits the ground. It's sandy... and a few things flip open quickly. His legs are being examined by the tongues of three curious Shellder. As soon as Barnaby swims ahead, something jets in the water behind him, chasing the school of Finneon. It doesn't seem to notice or care about the Colonel. |

... Oooooh no. The bigger fish. Barnaby quickly orders his bright, yellow Hors d'oeuvre to swim a little closer to the bright, yellow big-looking thing that was himself. Perhaps if the two of them swam closer together, it would leave both alone. At the same time, he has Rippleweave take a peek underwater to get an idea of what this bigger fish just might be. Jones chuckles at the curious little bivalves, but leaves them alone otherwise. He moves forward, sifting through the sand with one hand carefully, seeing if there might be anything hidden beneath that Mythrel might be interested in; or if it might stir up any more shy pokemon hiding underneath. Neil is floating behind him, shedding light and watching his trainer's back.

Rippleweave gets a good look underwater... it looks like a big old Seaking bullying the school of Finneon. It seems to disregard Barnaby as a neutral threat. (30) Good thing he landed on a Shellder patch; just sifting through the sand lets him dig up a small Pearl! (Sell item, worth 1500) |

Jones grins, before heading in the direction of the base of one of the buildings. He'll angle himself so that he's also heading in the direction of that ice sheet. Who knows what's hiding down here! |
