The marble architecture leading down the sparkling passage becomes more articulate the further on it goes, from a few wavy lines to a full-on ocean mural, depicting many aquatic Pokemon. The odd sparkling light reflects off of all sides, despite any source nearby... that is soon changed, however, when the passage fans outward to a bright, noisy clearing. The tunnel ends atop a set of stairs leading downward a meter, which itself leads to a marble platform carved into the wall on this side of the chamber. The platform is essentially a stone dock; the rest of the chamber, under the level of that dock, is filled with water. How far down cannot be discerned, but what is certain is that this place was once tall and majestic. The tips of massive stonework buildings peak out of the surface of the water, waves crashing softly against the masonry. The tops of lower buildings form platforms that can be traversed with hearty jumps. Just as well, some buildings poke out even taller, gaining a story of space above the water level. Above the water, the chamber resonates a white-blue reflection of the deep. Lanterns are strung up instead of being bolted to the wall, and the far wall stretches upward at an angle to meet the back wall in a triangle formation. The chamber is actually quite large as far as forward-backward goes, but who knows how far down it goes? |

Krabby B is down, and Krabby D is incapacitated by the net! The remaining two Krabby, their forces cut in half, scuttle away from their foes... well, A does. D just kind of freaks out in the net. |

Barnaby attempts to nab the netted Krabby with a pokeball. If he was lucky, perhaps he could trade it with the other new explorer for a spare finding, or just donate it to an up and coming youngster. A crabby Krabby DOES make a good first pokemon! Stagstrong, meanwhile, stays in reserve. Should the pokeball fail, Stagstrong will knock out the Krabby with a stomp to save the net from a break-out attempt. Likewise, should the retreating Krabby come back into the battlefield, he's prepared to switch targets to keep it out of the way. Krabby D is snared in the ball! (12/Docile/Shell Armor/Full HP) Krabby A exits through a crack in the wall. It's outta here... but did it know about the lack of water? EXP After the combat is over, Barnaby notices a long table in the corner. Conveniently, it has a ladder on it! Though it looks like it's in some disrepair, like it was being fixed here before... stuff. It would certainly help in the journey down if he could fix it. |

Hmm! Barnaby had no idea what to do with this. He looks around the room for any supplies that would be useful for fixing a ladder, and considers scrapping the table for parts. Although to be honest, ladder fixing wasn't really a trade for a zoologist. |

Jones, coming to the edge of the Grotto, looks around in stunned silence, before cursing loudly in Ancient Alph. "I should've known! Damnit, who knows how many mon this has killed so far! I need to get the water back, fast!" |

There looks to be a tool kit next to it... some things from there might help in fixing it a little. (+2 to Tech Edu checks for repairing/carpentry) Jones's sentiments are met with a vast echo across the mostly-empty chamber. Edited by BatiroAtrain, May 5 2014, 08:32 PM.

Ah! A helpful kit! Barnaby fumbles through the ancient tools, looking for some sort of saw and fasteners. Today he would fix ladders like the ancients! Because clearly this is what a wise adventurer does with ancient, watersoaked relics. Tech Ed Roll for Carpentry- [result]15&2:5:3,3d6,5,15&3d6+5[/result] |

The process is foreign to Barnaby, but easy enough to do with these old tools. Soon enough, he refashions this ladder into proper shape! This should help bring him down, if he can find a low enough spot. |
