The marble architecture leading down the sparkling passage becomes more articulate the further on it goes, from a few wavy lines to a full-on ocean mural, depicting many aquatic Pokemon. The odd sparkling light reflects off of all sides, despite any source nearby... that is soon changed, however, when the passage fans outward to a bright, noisy clearing. The tunnel ends atop a set of stairs leading downward a meter, which itself leads to a marble platform carved into the wall on this side of the chamber. The platform is essentially a stone dock; the rest of the chamber, under the level of that dock, is filled with water. How far down cannot be discerned, but what is certain is that this place was once tall and majestic. The tips of massive stonework buildings peak out of the surface of the water, waves crashing softly against the masonry. The tops of lower buildings form platforms that can be traversed with hearty jumps. Just as well, some buildings poke out even taller, gaining a story of space above the water level. Above the water, the chamber resonates a white-blue reflection of the deep. Lanterns are strung up instead of being bolted to the wall, and the far wall stretches upward at an angle to meet the back wall in a triangle formation. The chamber is actually quite large as far as forward-backward goes, but who knows how far down it goes? |

While there aren't any immediate ways down, the Colonel figures he could probably climb one of those far-off buildings down to the ground. That would involve some jumps across the pillars, but nothing too tricky... if he doesn't look down. There also seem to be some stair-like columns he could probably jump down, if he felt lucky, but it would be harder than going over to a building and climbing down. |

Barnaby, not entirely sure of his own skills, withdraws Dustermuch and sends out Cloperton. No doubt if the jumps were doable by him, then they would be child's play for his noble steed! He gives Clopperton a short briefing of which roofs and pillars to jump across to reach the far-off buildings, then mounts the horse. They ride for glory! The glory of not falling to their deaths in their pursuit of the distant towers! Ponyta's Jump Capability: 1/2. (Jumps within 1 meter high and 2 meters long do not need checks.) Acrobatics check for farther jumps: [result]11&4:3:3,3d6,1,11&3d6+1[/result] |

Clopperton glides across the columns and rooftops with ease, and runs across a large arch, making it to a platform in the middle of three buildings. One left, one right, and one in front of the Colonel. All of them seem to extend downwards, and they all have windows available to climb in... with a dive. There's also enough decor on the outside of the buildings to climb down, with little difficulty. |

Barnaby takes a quick peek at the windows for one that looks like it has the least water/damage. These ruins seem to suffer from a repeat customer syndrome and he'd like to be the first to step foot into one. After determining which of the vaults seems most pristine, he orders Clopperton to get them closer. The Colonel then has Clopperton warp the window's glass with an Ember attack so that he could push it out of its frame. These ARE ancient buildings after all; a window can be an artifact too! ...though it DOES seem odd that most of the buildings seem to have water mosses growing on them. |

(Then we probably don't need to melt it open with an Ember attack!) (Also, assuming the window is too small to fit an adult man riding a horse, Barnaby is probably going to have to dismount recall Clopperton to climb through.) Edited by MasterBlade, Apr 24 2014, 02:43 PM.

The window's not covered, but it's still a little distance away... it's gonna take a nice dive to get into. (Acrobatics/Athletics) |

Barnaby gets a running start, and off he goes! Into the sky, towards the window, and hopefully not the entire distance down in one leap! Athletics Check: [result]9&1:2:4,3d6,2,9&3d6+2[/result] |

Barnaby bumps himself on the windowsill, but manages to thump his way into the opening! There's a thin layer of water on the floor here, but it doesn't rise past the soles of his shoes. Other than that, there's a ladder up to a higher floor, and some smashed-up furniture... the carpet seems to have molded over and weakened in some spots, but there's no definite way down. |

Forget the way down. The better question would e if Barnaby had a way back up! He didn't alert anyone to the expedition, nor did he have a radio or means of communication. The roof jumps were stretching it, but going down without a definite ladder or staircase back up was completely out of the question! Which is why Barnaby is going to explore the upper floors of this buildings then re-purpose its ladders for an easy way to the bottom. He checks to make sure the ladder seemed sturdier than the floor and begins climbing up to see what was above him. |
