The marble architecture leading down the sparkling passage becomes more articulate the further on it goes, from a few wavy lines to a full-on ocean mural, depicting many aquatic Pokemon. The odd sparkling light reflects off of all sides, despite any source nearby... that is soon changed, however, when the passage fans outward to a bright, noisy clearing. The tunnel ends atop a set of stairs leading downward a meter, which itself leads to a marble platform carved into the wall on this side of the chamber. The platform is essentially a stone dock; the rest of the chamber, under the level of that dock, is filled with water. How far down cannot be discerned, but what is certain is that this place was once tall and majestic. The tips of massive stonework buildings peak out of the surface of the water, waves crashing softly against the masonry. The tops of lower buildings form platforms that can be traversed with hearty jumps. Just as well, some buildings poke out even taller, gaining a story of space above the water level. Above the water, the chamber resonates a white-blue reflection of the deep. Lanterns are strung up instead of being bolted to the wall, and the far wall stretches upward at an angle to meet the back wall in a triangle formation. The chamber is actually quite large as far as forward-backward goes, but who knows how far down it goes? |

"Get focused, Krieger!" Owen shouted as the Aron fumbled its attack. "Don't let it get into your head - Dusty, dodge and disable!" he interrupted himself sharply as he spotted the Cloyster releasing a water attack. With a swift kick of her little feet Dusty managed to spin aside from the pulse and fixed her opponent with a glowing glare, a crimson aura enveloping the Cloyster a moment later. ----------------- Dusty's Reaction: Disable Water Pulse. Owen will repeat his actions once more. Hopefully Krieger can get un-confused this time.

The aron yips to Owen. . . or to Stefan. . . he isn't sure. Aquatic battles sure are confusing. He tries to clear his head by slamming it into the hard, barnacle encrusted pokemon. Confusion [result]7&3,1d20,4,7&1d20+4[/result] Take Down Accuracy, AP [result]5&2,1d20,3,5&1d20+3[/result] Take Down Damage [result]44&8:5:3,3d8,28,44&3d8+28[/result] Meanwhile, Stefan approaches the Grunt. He shouts over to him as he treads the water. "Now, are you going to come back with me or is that totodile gonna have to rip off the rest of your leg?" The Cloyster is getting bored. It doesn't want to bother anymore; it remains stationed in the water, and blasts Dusty with Supersonic! [result]16&16,1d20,0,16&1d20[/result] (Grunt Focus: 5) The Grunt immediately loses it. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Just take me back to Goldenrod and I'll never come here again I swear!!" |

"Shake it off, Dusty!" Owen cried worriedly as the Venonat floundered dizzily in the water. "Kindle, now - while it's losing its concentration, Ember!" ---------------- Ember (AC 2) [result]14&13,1d20,1,14&1d20+1[/result] Damage [result]19&5:1,2d6,13,19&2d6+13[/result] Owen won't double his effects this turn, so only +1 Acc/Eva and +2 THP/Saves. Not sure Venonat gets a save if it's not getting a Command this turn, but just in case: Confusion [result]17&15,1d20,2,17&1d20+2[/result] |

Krieger continues the assault against a bored Cloyster. [result]10&9,1d20,1,10&1d20+1[/result] versus 3 [result]39&5:6,2d6,28,39&2d6+28[/result] Steel damage. * * * "Do as I say and I see no reason you can't live through this." Stefan begins to return to Krieger and Owen, with Schlamm still hoisting the unfortunate, and possibly crippled, grunt. Salz trails them a little bit, ready to pounce on the captive if he makes a break for it. When they reach the battle, Stefan indicates the Cloyster. "Recall it." |

The Cloyster brushes off the flames, but the Metal Claw finally pierces the shell's defenses, leaving a big gaping hole in it! This assault finally pushes it into the Toxic Spikes; however, as the poison makes contact, the Grunt fearfully recalls his Cloyster. EXP The Grunt is bleeding out pretty bad... and the saltwater in his wounds doesn't seem to be helping. |

Stefan ushers the group onto dry land before tending to the Grunt's wound. He felt they had an understanding now. They had brought him down once, and would do so again if he made a break for it. "Lets get along, and we can get through this together." He inspects the bite mark. He doesn't want the grunt to die, but he also wants to avoid wasting precious resources on a criminal who was an enemy. Education: Medicine [result]15&6:4:5,3d6,0,15&3d6[/result] OOC

Relieved that things were under control, Owen returned Dusty to her Pokeball to let her regain her senses; fortunately, neither of his Pokemon had been injured during the brief aquatic skirmish. A sheen seemed to glint off his sunglasses from some nearby light source as the gentleman leaned towards the grunt, shaking his head. "Hmm, I've seen some nasty bite wounds in my time..." he began smoothly, his voice and expression grim with pity. "And reptile saliva is particularly septic. I'm afraid you'll lose this leg if you only get basic medical attention." He let his words hang heavy in the air for a moment. "Of course, I'm certain we can ensure you're given the best care available, if you're... sufficiently cooperative?" -------------- Guile [result]19&4:5:3:2,4d6,5,19&4d6+5[/result] |

(Grunt Focus: 8) The Grunt's focus is slowly shattering, apparently. "B-B-Burned Tower!!" All answers following that are simply wails and cries for help. Stefan's able to stabilize the wounds, at least. |

Stefan chews on his lip. This was getting pathetic. But he was still dealing with a person who was a criminal by any definition of the term. "We'll let you go free, but you're part of the Rockets. Pokemon thieves and such. You're either incompetent, a fool, or evil. In any case, I don't think we can trust you to just walk away and not be a danger to yourself or others. . . . At least not with any weapons . . . alive or mechanical." He doubted the Grunt was even listening. Shaking his head, he wrests the Grunt's pokeball(s) from him and pats him down in a search for other items. Perception: [result]17&5:4:4:4,4d6,0,17&4d6[/result] |
