The marble architecture leading down the sparkling passage becomes more articulate the further on it goes, from a few wavy lines to a full-on ocean mural, depicting many aquatic Pokemon. The odd sparkling light reflects off of all sides, despite any source nearby... that is soon changed, however, when the passage fans outward to a bright, noisy clearing.

The tunnel ends atop a set of stairs leading downward a meter, which itself leads to a marble platform carved into the wall on this side of the chamber. The platform is essentially a stone dock; the rest of the chamber, under the level of that dock, is filled with water. How far down cannot be discerned, but what is certain is that this place was once tall and majestic. The tips of massive stonework buildings peak out of the surface of the water, waves crashing softly against the masonry. The tops of lower buildings form platforms that can be traversed with hearty jumps. Just as well, some buildings poke out even taller, gaining a story of space above the water level.

Above the water, the chamber resonates a white-blue reflection of the deep. Lanterns are strung up instead of being bolted to the wall, and the far wall stretches upward at an angle to meet the back wall in a triangle formation. The chamber is actually quite large as far as forward-backward goes, but who knows how far down it goes?

Stefan does what he believes is the tactical move, leaving Krieger entangled with the Cloyster while he and Salz attempt to chase down the trainer.

Krieger uses Iron Defense!

[OOC]Sounds more than fair. I had assumed you'd decide how Krieger acted as an independent distraction, but I won't complain.[/OOC]

Krieger is succesfully confused, but attempts to land another Take Down, now locked in single combat.
Confusion [result]18&18,1d20,0,18&1d20[/result]
Accuracy [result]4&4,1d20,0,4&1d20[/result]
Damage [result]33&3:1:7,3d8,22,33&3d8+22[/result]

Though Stefan fails to close the gap, Salz is a natural in the water, swimming ever closer.
Stefan Athletics [result]8&1:5,2d6,2,8&2d6+2[/result]

When/if Salz gets close enough, he will reluctantly attempt to Bite the grunt, his only means of slowing him down.

(Grunt Athletics: 20 <crit, straight 6's!>)

As Salz is about to close in for the chomp, the Grunt suddenly rockets forward in the water, apparently revitalizing himself at the sight of those massive jaws! If someone doesn't catch up soon, that guy's gonna get away!

Krieger doesn't quite hit the Cloyster, and it laughs at the poor swimming Aron. The clam them retaliates with Water Pulse! [result]18&18,1d20,0,18&1d20[/result] [result]30&4:1:1,3d6,24,30&3d6+24[/result]

Kindle came scampering down into the grotto with Owen right behind him, but balked when he reached the water's edge. Recognizing the Krieger as Stefan's champion Pokemon, locked in battle with a Cloyster and faring somewhat poorly from what he could tell, Owen pulled the second Pokeball from his belt. "Dusty, get out there and help that Aron! Try to start wearing it down with some Toxic Spikes!" Making a leaping dive off the stairs, the Venonat twirled in midair, sending out a mass of spiny purple spores that completely encircled the Cloyster, floating on the surface of the water.

The Venonat blasts Toxic Spikes all around the Cloyster and Krieger; luckily, they won't effect Krieger!

(Grunt Athletics: 9) Salz swims hard enough to catch up, but whiffs his attack. Thankfully, the Grunt is now at least within catchable range; but as he swims, he tries kicking Salz away! [result]2&2,1d20,0,2&1d20[/result] [result]16&4,1d8,12,16&1d8+12[/result]
