The marble architecture leading down the sparkling passage becomes more articulate the further on it goes, from a few wavy lines to a full-on ocean mural, depicting many aquatic Pokemon. The odd sparkling light reflects off of all sides, despite any source nearby... that is soon changed, however, when the passage fans outward to a bright, noisy clearing.

The tunnel ends atop a set of stairs leading downward a meter, which itself leads to a marble platform carved into the wall on this side of the chamber. The platform is essentially a stone dock; the rest of the chamber, under the level of that dock, is filled with water. How far down cannot be discerned, but what is certain is that this place was once tall and majestic. The tips of massive stonework buildings peak out of the surface of the water, waves crashing softly against the masonry. The tops of lower buildings form platforms that can be traversed with hearty jumps. Just as well, some buildings poke out even taller, gaining a story of space above the water level.

Above the water, the chamber resonates a white-blue reflection of the deep. Lanterns are strung up instead of being bolted to the wall, and the far wall stretches upward at an angle to meet the back wall in a triangle formation. The chamber is actually quite large as far as forward-backward goes, but who knows how far down it goes?

Jones gets a calculating look in his eye. "Tell you what. I'll buy it off of you. Say for 500 poke? Makes up the cost of the ball, and some extra compensation for the damage it did to your clothing and yourself."

Stefan clears his throat.

"For what its worth, I've seen what the chef can do with mere crab. I'd be interested in experiencing this dish. . ."

Chef shakes his head, clinging to the ball. "You know the saying, 'strange meat tastes best'? Meat like this squid will be much more spectacular than plain crab... worth much more than 500." He seems oddly intent on calling it a squid.

Satisfied with the single cage, Chef beckons his Munchlax and makes his way back toward the chamber's entrance. "Let us go, so you three wake up to hearty squid breakfast!"

"Do not forget Merchant's original deal. Pokemon that come through that you are not to cook, you send to Merchant. If you do not mind, Merchant will also be borrowing Hungry for the night. He will have a good time."

Once Merchant collects the Munchlax for the night, he approaches Stephen.

"Merchant wishes to know if you are interested in making some money. Merchant would like to borrow a few of your pokemon for the night, and is willing to pay for the rental. They will be ready and rested before morning if you agree, and all the happier for it."

Jones moves to catch up with the Chef. "Alright then, how does 1000 poke sound? I really think that it'll be of more use to me alive than to you as a one-off meal. I need mon that can fight effectively underwater."

"Well, Merchant can make a deal for everyone. The Tentecool is not to be eaten until tomorrow, yes? Merchant only needs it for tonight. What is done with it after, Merchant does not care.
I trust, should it be sold, Jones will not be using it tonight?"

Jones looks over at Merchant. "Well, no, not really. I don't have any plans for any major explorations at night, at least not at the moment; especially since the gates are shut at night."

Stefan considers the offer carefully.

"Very well. You can borrow my Pokemon tonight, as long as Krieger is rested come morning."

Merchant nods happily to Stephen.

"Merchant will provide payment for the rental. Allow Merchant to know what you wish in return, be it cash or credit."

Stefan glances away towards the direction of the fleeing wooper. He couldn't give chase now, the day was ending. He sticks his hands in his pockets and waits for the others to begin the trek back.
