Theme Music is now mandatory

The air grows more humid the further into the tunnel one moves, heated to the point that the walls themselves seem to melt... giving way to solid steel. Five minutes into it, the passage widens out like a fan, opening immensely into a chamber that seems straight out of a volcanic temple.

The clay-brick architecture exists only on the ground, which feels much more dense when one walks on it. Six immense stone spikes carve out an invitation to those who wish to wander around this chamber, maybe hoping to get burned? The chamber itself stretches back immensely far, appearing to occupy one whole slice of the pyramid. The wall behind the group rises straight up, but the back wall in this chamber, as far as the group can see, slants at a sharp angle to meet the other wall behind them.

Occupying the rest of this chamber appears to be a village-sized conglomerate of melted architecture! Regardless of the origin, this whole place looks like a molten city. There are even small lava pools dotting the ground around the entrance to this place, a connect-the-dots puzzle of melted rock surrounding a dead steel city... this place is truly intimidating, but a fit place to adventure for the hardier explorer.

The Slugma is scratched hard by the cat! It slides back, but sees the cat falling asleep. Once it has dozed off completely, it attempts to slink back incredibly slowly into the lava pool... but it is interrupted by a Poke Ball to the face. Slugma has been caught! ((10, Skittish, Flame Body))

Jones nods. "Okay, here's what I want you to do. You see those shelves over there?" he points them out. "I want you to go over, and see if there's anything small enough for me to carry on them. And if it's light enough, I want you to pick it up and bring it back to me. But only if you don't have to break it into pieces. If there's something there, but it's too heavy for you to carry, come back and let me know. Alright? You do this, you'll get a nice reward back at our base camp." Hopefully the incentive will make it more tractable.

The Gastly hovers over to the shelf, glaring at Jones. It levitates around a few unbroken items on the shelf... a small vase, a tiny glass, and a shiny trinket all sit on the board. It attempts to grab the vase in its mouth, but that appears to melt... it instead goes for the glass, biting onto it and floating back.

Merchant picks up the pokeball satisfactorily.
"Good cat."
The cat is sleeping soundly, but with a few shakes wakes up.

He collects the broken ball as well, pocketing it too.
He then addresses Stephen.
"Ok. Ready to delve deeper?"

He checks to make sure everything is in order before attempting to find the way deeper.

He yells out to Jones as he passes through,

"Tell boss Merchant said to find his wallet!"

He heads deeper into the room, looking for a way to progress.

Jones nods and carefully takes the glass from Inferno. "Excellent job. You'll get your pick of treats when we get back to the base camp. For now though, return." Jones recalls the ghost, before examining the floor once more, to see if there's any spots around the edges that look like they'd be solid enough to hold his weight without collapsing. He'd seen the sparkle of something on that shelf from Inferno's flames, and now his curiosity was aroused.

Most of the buildings the two spy are melted closed, but Merchant spies a staircase running up the side of one building...

There doesn't seem to be a spot for Jones to approach safely. It's essentially a gamble to get the bauble from the shelf...
