Theme Music is now mandatory

The air grows more humid the further into the tunnel one moves, heated to the point that the walls themselves seem to melt... giving way to solid steel. Five minutes into it, the passage widens out like a fan, opening immensely into a chamber that seems straight out of a volcanic temple.

The clay-brick architecture exists only on the ground, which feels much more dense when one walks on it. Six immense stone spikes carve out an invitation to those who wish to wander around this chamber, maybe hoping to get burned? The chamber itself stretches back immensely far, appearing to occupy one whole slice of the pyramid. The wall behind the group rises straight up, but the back wall in this chamber, as far as the group can see, slants at a sharp angle to meet the other wall behind them.

Occupying the rest of this chamber appears to be a village-sized conglomerate of melted architecture! Regardless of the origin, this whole place looks like a molten city. There are even small lava pools dotting the ground around the entrance to this place, a connect-the-dots puzzle of melted rock surrounding a dead steel city... this place is truly intimidating, but a fit place to adventure for the hardier explorer.

(Orbs wut? Dusty found full-size fire extinguishers)

(Something check: 6)

Between the two of them, Inei and Dusty manage to get the trunk open... but there's nothing inside but a bunch of hot air, which wafts past the explorers' faces. It feels like something is messing with them.

They hear a faint giggle from nowhere.

Inei immediately drops to the floor and holds his breath, releasing Kuki to augment Nabikun's prowess, and observes the situation.

(Oh wow I didn't even know those existed... maybe next time.)

Inei can't make heads or tails of anything without physical tracks... but he does discern the giggling coming from above. Dusty figures something must be teleporting around, phasing maybe... it's obviously some kind of trickster Pokemon messing with them. It's also associated with heat, apparently... perhaps a Drifloon or Litwick.

Initiative

That giggling is certainly coming from the intact portion of the ceiling, or at least beyond it.

About to react, Dusty realizes that he has no idea where this thing is. Inei looks to have a spark of genius in his eyes, he'll wait for him to make is move.

"Nabikun, Rock Throw at the ceiling!"

Perhaps it was genius, probably not, but it was something. Nabikun chucks a piece of debris at the ceiling, that intact part of it from which the giggling emanated.

The ceiling is hit, and part of it falls off. The flames of a Litwick are just barely visible behind it, before the spooking wears off... and it's hit in the face with a wing. It reacts by shooting an Ember at Para! [result]11&11,1d20,0,11&1d20[/result] [result]32&5:4,2d6,23,32&2d6+23[/result] Fire Special, Burns 18-20

From the other corner of the ceiling, the open space they came through in, another Ember hits an unsuspecting Inei in the back! [result]9&9,1d20,0,9&1d20[/result] [result]27&2:2,2d6,23,27&2d6+23[/result] Fire Special, Burns 18-20

The fire sends Para to the floor, crippling the Pokémon's wing. It's able to stand, but just barely. Dusty launches a Basic Ball at the injured candle.

Inei is severely hurt at this point, but he keeps going regardless.

"Nabikun, Rock Throw against that newcomer!"

Nabikun obliges with another piece of Debris, while Kuki dozes off in his corner.
