Theme Music is now mandatory

The air grows more humid the further into the tunnel one moves, heated to the point that the walls themselves seem to melt... giving way to solid steel. Five minutes into it, the passage widens out like a fan, opening immensely into a chamber that seems straight out of a volcanic temple.

The clay-brick architecture exists only on the ground, which feels much more dense when one walks on it. Six immense stone spikes carve out an invitation to those who wish to wander around this chamber, maybe hoping to get burned? The chamber itself stretches back immensely far, appearing to occupy one whole slice of the pyramid. The wall behind the group rises straight up, but the back wall in this chamber, as far as the group can see, slants at a sharp angle to meet the other wall behind them.

Occupying the rest of this chamber appears to be a village-sized conglomerate of melted architecture! Regardless of the origin, this whole place looks like a molten city. There are even small lava pools dotting the ground around the entrance to this place, a connect-the-dots puzzle of melted rock surrounding a dead steel city... this place is truly intimidating, but a fit place to adventure for the hardier explorer.

The Tauros are incredibly hesitant to step past the plains. There's some kind of fear in their eyes, as they quickly turn tail and head back deeper into the plains.

Kossa himself has reached the downtown sector of Slag. Plenty of thick buildings cluster around him.

Kossa braces himself against a building and digs for a Potion. He uses one, takes a moment to catch his breath, and then uses another. The Houndour's poison is still in his blood but the double dose of sweet nutrients medicine brings him back to a healthy enough state to venture on. "Be glad you got only scorched, Kugo. You're not hating this nearly as much as I am."

Kugo cradles his tail and glares.

Once his first aid is complete, Kossa recalls Kugo and shoulders his pack. He chooses to explore the downtown further and hopefully bump into some relics - and not any more Charizard.

Downtown Slag is a pretty packed place. Not due to Pokemon density, but building cluster alone. Most are tall, featureless skyscrapers that number in the billions (as far as Kossa can tell), but there's a lone flat, one-story kiosk thing wedged in between a few of the tall buildings that looks rather busted-up. A large window pane is shattered, a wooden door is completely open... it's trashed.

Kossa, remembering the Pawniard escapade, attempts to creep up to the busted window and peek in as quietly as possible.

Kossa gets a nice look into this small building. Fortunately, the coast is clear as far as he can see. The small room looks like a storefront, containing a steel counter, some mounts on the wall, an anvil... this looks like it could have been some kind of commercial blacksmith building. Apart from all that stuff, there's two large wooden chests in the corner near the counter.

Relieved, Kossa walks in. His eyes dart between the two chests before deciding to open the leftmost one.

Kossa opens up the trunk... and finds himself a nice blue club accompanied by a good size whetstone. Odd things to keep in a chest together.

The other chest appears locked.

Kossa accepts the chest's bounty with thanks. The club looks strong and seems to beckon to him, stirring a strange feeling in the pit of his gut. He packs up both the club and whetstone, deciding that he has some treasure for Mythril.... and then he looks at the second locked chest.

He kneels down and, using the tip of his boomerang, tries to shimmy the lock open. He curses, knowing that he's possibly the most unqualified person for this.

Kossa doesn't bust the lock, but he doesn't get it open either. Hmph.

He scowls, but then grins as an idea forms. Kossa summons Kugo and points at the locked wooden chest.

"If we can't open it, we're lugging it. Do you think you can handle it?"

Kugo's Power: 5 (at yer discretion cap'n)
