Theme Music is now mandatory

The air grows more humid the further into the tunnel one moves, heated to the point that the walls themselves seem to melt... giving way to solid steel. Five minutes into it, the passage widens out like a fan, opening immensely into a chamber that seems straight out of a volcanic temple.

The clay-brick architecture exists only on the ground, which feels much more dense when one walks on it. Six immense stone spikes carve out an invitation to those who wish to wander around this chamber, maybe hoping to get burned? The chamber itself stretches back immensely far, appearing to occupy one whole slice of the pyramid. The wall behind the group rises straight up, but the back wall in this chamber, as far as the group can see, slants at a sharp angle to meet the other wall behind them.

Occupying the rest of this chamber appears to be a village-sized conglomerate of melted architecture! Regardless of the origin, this whole place looks like a molten city. There are even small lava pools dotting the ground around the entrance to this place, a connect-the-dots puzzle of melted rock surrounding a dead steel city... this place is truly intimidating, but a fit place to adventure for the hardier explorer.

In anticipation of what would likely be a very angry ghost when it woke up, Stefan braces himself. If the capture fails, he orders Krieger to use Stealth Rock.

Jones's ball bounces off of the unknown Pokemon, wiggling at his feet... it ceases moving. The Pokemon has been caught!

Jones smiles as he picks up the ball, clipping it to his belt. "Welcome to the team then, Inferno." He turns to Stefan and Merchant. "Well, I think this was plenty of excitement for one expedition, and we appear to have managed to gather a number of interesting finds. Shall we head back for now?" He recalls Digger as he speaks.

Stefan climbs out the window before responding.

"I'd like to stay a bit longer and catch one of these slugma. And are we certain we haven't missed anything immensely relevant? No puzzle, no treasure trove?"

Stefan recalls his Pokemon and shrugs off the anti climax as he scans his immediate surroundings for Pokemon.

Merchant is fairly baffled at the idea of 'heading back'.
"You can head back. Merchant just got here. He will go back when he's out of stuff to carry."

He picks up the pokeball in the corner that he threw.

"Yes, lets catch Slugs. Come come."

He gestures Stephan to follow him.

Edit: hurrrr names are hard.

Jones shrugs. "I don't mind sticking around a bit longer if you want to try your luck with one of these slugma. As for anything immensely relevant? This is only a recon foray. I fully expect we'll be coming back here for more in-depth searching. Right now we've go a couple of finds at least, and I think Fir is probably going to want to know about the fact that there's type-shifted mon down here as well. Because if they're in one of these chambers, chances are they're in all of them. certainly a useful piece of data." Jones looks over to Merchant. "And what do you think?"

"Recon for you, acquisition for me. Merchant is here as a supplier, not a researcher. We are here for completely different things."

He points at one of the slugs, gesturing his Meowth to go.

The Meowth looks at him like he's stupid. First biting rocks, now punching magma.

"...Cat, you don't help my point."

Stefan follows Merchant, hoping to be useful this time. He responds to Jones as they go.

"Ah, good. I don't mind coming back, but we should take advantage of first dibs on this area. I would bet the others are."

Merchant sizes up the slugs. They wouldn't be hard to capture, but he still couldn't reliably hurt one without risking his Meowth.

He looks up and notices his Zubat.

"Ah! Merchant has an idea."

He attempts to find a secluded Slugma to jump.

While Merchant and Stefan attempt to acquire some slugma, Jones is going to take another look around, and see if he can spot anything else that he might have missed at first glance.
