Theme Music is now mandatory

The air grows more humid the further into the tunnel one moves, heated to the point that the walls themselves seem to melt... giving way to solid steel. Five minutes into it, the passage widens out like a fan, opening immensely into a chamber that seems straight out of a volcanic temple.

The clay-brick architecture exists only on the ground, which feels much more dense when one walks on it. Six immense stone spikes carve out an invitation to those who wish to wander around this chamber, maybe hoping to get burned? The chamber itself stretches back immensely far, appearing to occupy one whole slice of the pyramid. The wall behind the group rises straight up, but the back wall in this chamber, as far as the group can see, slants at a sharp angle to meet the other wall behind them.

Occupying the rest of this chamber appears to be a village-sized conglomerate of melted architecture! Regardless of the origin, this whole place looks like a molten city. There are even small lava pools dotting the ground around the entrance to this place, a connect-the-dots puzzle of melted rock surrounding a dead steel city... this place is truly intimidating, but a fit place to adventure for the hardier explorer.

The platform has strange markings on it, like some kind of ancient decal depicting a Pokemon arena. It's about the same size, too. The spires appear to be simply decorative.

As soon as Jones steps foot on the platform, he hears the deafening sound of a gong ringing! Up in the distance, atop a taller building, it seems a Pokemon has rang a gong from up there... a Makuhita, it seems.

Heavy, ominous steps can be heard coming from the same direction, but it's not that Pokemon that's up there... it sounds more like it's coming from the entryway of the building.

Jones freezes when he hears the gong; eyes jerking upwards even as he brings his pokedex to bear on the Makuhita. Then his attention is drawn to the pounding footsteps. "Ooooh, I got a baaaaaaad feelin' about this..." Nonetheless, he stands his ground, fingers resting on the pokeballs at his waist as he peers towards the entryway, trying to make out what's coming.

The rumbling of footsteps grows louder and louder... and the double-doors of the building are smashed open with a fierce stomp, flying off the hinges. A massive burning beast steps forward, bright red fists of fire... fat as hell. It's a Hariyama.

Jones mutters to himself; "Yeah, no way in Distortion World." He bows low, as if a student to a master, and backs away, off of the platform. "I apologize for disturbing your meditations great one. I humbly beg forgiveness for the intrusion. I am a stranger here, and was not aware that this was your dojo. I am not an adept at the martial arts, and I fear my partners would not be a suitable challenge to you. I do know of a warrior who seeks to test his strength in these depths. Allow me to depart peacefully, and you have my word as a Scholar that I will let him know of this place; so that you may have a proper test for your strength."

The Hariyama cracks its flaming knuckles... the big words have left it confused. Now would be a good time to run like hell...

The Hariyama chooses not to even pursue... tiny challengers aren't worth the trouble.

Jones notes many Makuhita staring at him from the higher windows as he flees.

Once he's sure that he's not being pursued, Jones will stop, and mentally mark that place on his map. "Okay, once my team is up to snuff, and properly filled out, it's rematch time Gigantor." With that, he goes back to prowling around the ruins, looking for other buildings that aren't occupied by entire schools of Makuhita and flaming Hariyama.

Jones springs through a random alleyway... and comes upon an even bigger clearing. No buildings for hundreds of feet ahead... this is quite a strange sight. It appears to be near the back of the chamber, and the area ahead seems to be a bit hilly as well. The terrain seems to transform from dense stone to packed dirt, and quadrupedal Pokemon are spied far out, dotting the hills in the distance.
