Theme Music is now mandatory The air grows more humid the further into the tunnel one moves, heated to the point that the walls themselves seem to melt... giving way to solid steel. Five minutes into it, the passage widens out like a fan, opening immensely into a chamber that seems straight out of a volcanic temple. The clay-brick architecture exists only on the ground, which feels much more dense when one walks on it. Six immense stone spikes carve out an invitation to those who wish to wander around this chamber, maybe hoping to get burned? The chamber itself stretches back immensely far, appearing to occupy one whole slice of the pyramid. The wall behind the group rises straight up, but the back wall in this chamber, as far as the group can see, slants at a sharp angle to meet the other wall behind them. Occupying the rest of this chamber appears to be a village-sized conglomerate of melted architecture! Regardless of the origin, this whole place looks like a molten city. There are even small lava pools dotting the ground around the entrance to this place, a connect-the-dots puzzle of melted rock surrounding a dead steel city... this place is truly intimidating, but a fit place to adventure for the hardier explorer. Merchant doesn't hesitate, and opens up the pokeball with the zubat. "Bat, Cat, go find hidden things. Merchant will feed you after." The bat doesn't seem to understand much besides 'feed', and flaps around the top, obviously uncomfortable. It uses its echolocation to find anything living, the concept of 'value' lost on the creature. The Meowth however understands what it wants, and goes off to find whatever shiny things it can. Merchant just keeps his eyes peeled for pokemon in the area, not wanting anything to get the jump on them. The trio move in a relatively close knit group, Merchant not letting either of the two pokemon stray too far as he explores the various architecture. With its echolocation, the Zubat returns back with a sense of dread concerning paths left and right of the Merchant. There is no clear path to proceed down, only weaving in and out of the molten buildings, but the bat is a bit nervous about proceeding in any direction other than forward. The Meowth returns after bouncing off for a minute, and in contrast to the Zubat, it seems rather excited about veering off from the straight path! From what the cat can discern, some treasure might be had if the trio journeys off randomly, no goal in mind. The shadows of fiery, slaglike Pokemon can be seen just looking around. For every lava pool, there are at least two Slugma hanging out nearby. Like the other ruins Pokemon that the group has encountered, they are not immediately hostile, more concerned with minding their own business than anything. Jones releases Digger as he follows close behind the others. "Keep close buddy, but be ready to strike back if we're attacked." Digger nods his huge head, his jaws stretching further into a smile at the prospect of battle. Jones is keeping an eye out for any sort of treasure, while attempting to make his way to the slagged buildings that he can see; carefully testing each foothold for the tell-tale wobbling or slight give that indicates that the supposedly solid stone is floating on a pool of magma. Jones veers off into one of the melted buildings, satisfied with the fact that the ground is solid enough. While there doesn't seem to be a door (or if there is one, it's stuck), the windows on every building are open... Merchant watches the archaeologist. While technically the reason he was down here, he wasn't huge on the group. They tended to care more about 'history' over things like...profit, which as far as he was concerned was a cardinal sin. Oh well, perhaps the man might set off a few traps or something on the way in and save him the trouble. |

A small pool of lava adorns the corner of the room opposite of where Jones leaped in. Resting nearby, half-in and half-out of the pool, are two more Slugma. A familiar sight already, but an unsettling feeling creeps into the back of Jones' mind... as Merchant spies the archaeologist from the window.

Jones stops, and concentrates, trying to parse where, what and why. Where is the feeling seeming to come from, what seems to be triggering it, and most importantly, why is it triggering his danger sense. At his side, Digger lets out a low, rattling growl, which seems to reverberate within his now open cavernous jaws. ((Anything you want me to roll?)) |

Stefan follows the party cautiously, watching for the slugma to make any sudden moves. He also scans for anything that the other two might have missed or passed up, while wracking his brain. Why are the slugma so common here? Perception: [result]10&6:4,2d6,0,10&2d6[/result] Pokemon Education to gain insight about Slugma Swarms: [result]11&6:4:1,3d6,0,11&3d6[/result] |

The unease Jones feels emanates from somewhere in the room... maybe it's the Slugma that are filling him with dread? It's hard to pinpoint where exactly this strange feeling is coming from... Stefan notices the Slugma don't seem to care about the intruders. Just as well, since he recalls reading something about this... Slugma Swarms and You
