Theme Music is now mandatory

As the staircase rises further up, the vines become more frequent, eventually sporting a few bulbs and flowers here and there, with the natural light glowing ever brighter. At the very top step, the claustrophobic walls immediately cease, and give way to a wondrous place: A veritable jungle in the top of the pyramid!

While the staircase is in a small clearing, most everything beyond a few meters is completely impossible to see through; all it is is brush and moss. The top of the pyramid (from the inside) is visible, and appears to be some kind of gigantic skylight, allowing the sun's rays to filter through to this natural setting. Scuttling through the brush, a heap of Bug Pokemon are visible from the get-go, but disappear as soon as they spot an intruder.

A thin path can be discerned from the stairs, but it is incredibly thin, only a few inches wide. Going through the path, one would still be cutting through most of the brush.

Reya is confused by the sudden shifting of spores. How nasty would these spores be? Good thing Sada wasn't around or she would be all over them. She is shook out of her rambling by Jones, "Huh? Right a pattern. Wouldn't want to touch one of those....Think the researchers would want a sample?" Reya says rummaging through her pack. Not any good containers in there. Perhaps a Pokeball could work...

Merchant loads a simple poke ball in the cannon after cats failure, aiming carefully...

"Probably, but in all honestly I wouldn't want to risk touching the stuff. If anything else you'd probably want a sample of the orange goop that's generating the spores down below. Which may or may not be some form of digestive fluid. I don't have any proper containers for stuff like that though, and if need be we could always try coming back later to get some." Jones keeps his focus on the wall of spores. He's also keeping one eye on his watch, tracking how long the wall remains in place.

Struck by the fiery tackle, the Stantler slides along the ground a little, but turns to face its attacker. It seems to be issuing a challenge... by striking back with a Stomp! [result]8&8,1d20,0,8&1d20[/result] [result]39&7:7,2d10,25,39&2d10+25[/result] Normal Physical, Flinch 15+

Jones and Reya give the spore columns a chance to change a little bit... and change it does. The wall, after a few seconds, fades backwards into another wall, and another, before parting into the side pattern, leaving the path clear. It's a little quick, but a quick sprint would probably get them through unscathed.

Stefan tries to discern the cause of the sores, attempting to glean information about his surroundings... it looks like this patch is just irritated. Maybe from being rubbed the wrong way for a long time. This particular mass he's on seems like it's vast, mostly empty... this may be its chest cavity. He does, however, notice something stuck in one of the sores he investigates... it's buried in flesh.

Cat missses hard, and so does the ball. Dodging a shot, the Carnivine bypasses the short cat, levitating over Meowth toward the source of the ball... and finds a cannon pointed at it. With one swift motion, the fly-trap tries stuffing Merchant into its gullet! Bite: [result]19&19,1d20,0,19&1d20[/result] [result]33&1:4,2d6,28,33&2d6+28[/result] Dark Physical, Flinch 15+

Reya puts the ball away, there would always be later... "So let's go on the next cycle...assuming it has one." Reya preps herself for the next parting of the spore wall and tries to dash through.

Holey moley, that thing is one hell of a powerhouse! Barnaby is easily slammed off his mount and onto the ground.

With his trusty steed in poor condition, the Colonel recalls it in favor of Paras, whom he immediately sends out. He quickly orders Paras to use Stun Spore again, and crosses his fingers for a successful burst.

Cat jumps at the Carnivine at a bad time and finds itself with a face full of teeth. Merchant, not one to take for granted an opportunity, promptly inserts another Great ball and shoots it in the face again.

Jones and Reya manage to sprint past the spore wall with a tad bit of difficulty... making it back would be hard, but that's a problem for later. Up ahead, the two trainers spy a protuding ball of flesh in the middle of a 'hallway'. It's a lone protrusion, and appears to be made of a few flaps stretched over something. The material seems easy to peel back.

Paras tries to spray spore, but to no avail. The poor thing probably isn't used to a life of fighting... but the Stantler certainly is. With the fire horse gone, the deer now charges at the next obvious target: Barnaby himself! Tackle: [result]20&20,1d20,0,20&1d20[/result] [result]33&4:6,2d6,23,33&2d6+23[/result]

The ball lands with a crunchy thud on the Carnivine's roots, and it's phased into the ball... capture! (18/Docile/38 HP/1 Injury)
