Theme Music is now mandatory

As the staircase rises further up, the vines become more frequent, eventually sporting a few bulbs and flowers here and there, with the natural light glowing ever brighter. At the very top step, the claustrophobic walls immediately cease, and give way to a wondrous place: A veritable jungle in the top of the pyramid!

While the staircase is in a small clearing, most everything beyond a few meters is completely impossible to see through; all it is is brush and moss. The top of the pyramid (from the inside) is visible, and appears to be some kind of gigantic skylight, allowing the sun's rays to filter through to this natural setting. Scuttling through the brush, a heap of Bug Pokemon are visible from the get-go, but disappear as soon as they spot an intruder.

A thin path can be discerned from the stairs, but it is incredibly thin, only a few inches wide. Going through the path, one would still be cutting through most of the brush.

As the smoke fills their ritual area, the Carnivine all dodge out of the smoke, and look around feverishly for anything out of the ordinary. With the Ditto in the smoke, two of the three plants go for the obvious target: Koffing.

The initial blast of spores is coming from a sort of webbed membrane, directly below the entrance at the top. There's no way to enter, but the noise it causes seems to becoming from further than that... maybe it's the live acoustics of a giant bulb.

"ARCANIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE!!!!"

Barnaby bursts through the grass into the clearing of Stantler, mimicking the hunting call produced by one of Stantler's primary predators! At least the ones outside of the pyramid. He crosses his fingers and hopes the species' evolved instincts still remember that fear, despite the different environment.

(Stantler Focus: 9, 11)

The Stantler react in fear to Barnaby's battle cry; they instantly begin sprinting away from the wild call!

Paras receives the signal the second Barnaby shouts and fires off his Stun Spore at one of the Stantler before they get too far from his position.

Stefan glowers in the darkness as Jones disagrees with him. He wasn't eager to deal with the brash archeologist in another high stress situation. He pauses his march forward while Reya voices her own opinion.

"That's two to one, boss . I'll go down the other tract. There may be danger, but I can handle it. We can't afford to waste double the time, not with the curfew rule. I could handle it, but I'm sure you would rather not rough it out here at night. I'll message you on the dex if I find it first."

He spins about and backtracks to go down the left path.

Jones heaves a sigh, but stays silent as Stefan stomps off. After a moment, he gestures with his light down the right-hand path. "Shall we?" With that he moves forward once more.

The two Carnivine become Confused! Carnivine B is smacked around and captured! (18/Jolly/Proud/54 HP)

Carnivine A (Confusion 16) goes to attack his friend's capturer! [result]10&10,1d20,0,10&1d20[/result] [result]30&2:4,2d6,24,30&2d6+24[/result] Grass Physical
Carnivine C maneuvers around the smoke, trying to confuse Koffing! Teeter Dance: [result]15&15,1d20,0,15&1d20[/result]

Paras's spore somehow fails to go off; nerves, maybe. The Stantler are getting away, though! (Athletics, match or beat 15 and 20 (A CRIT) to catch up!)

Down the left-hand path, Stefan walks in the darkness a little bit, but comes upon what looks like a small river of blood flowing from under some organs... ew. It's probably diluted with water, but it doesn't seem like anything Stefan wants to touch. (Athletics/Acrobatics to hop it, DC7)

Jones makes his way down the right-hand path, leaving Reya behind a bit... what he encounters is a floor covered with web membrane, similar to what the blast at the entrance was flowing through. It seems like a few weak columns of spore are wafting through the membrane, but though they're skinny, they appear... concentrated. They're all off to the sides as well, providing a central path through them that's clear.
