Theme Music is now mandatory As the staircase rises further up, the vines become more frequent, eventually sporting a few bulbs and flowers here and there, with the natural light glowing ever brighter. At the very top step, the claustrophobic walls immediately cease, and give way to a wondrous place: A veritable jungle in the top of the pyramid! While the staircase is in a small clearing, most everything beyond a few meters is completely impossible to see through; all it is is brush and moss. The top of the pyramid (from the inside) is visible, and appears to be some kind of gigantic skylight, allowing the sun's rays to filter through to this natural setting. Scuttling through the brush, a heap of Bug Pokemon are visible from the get-go, but disappear as soon as they spot an intruder. A thin path can be discerned from the stairs, but it is incredibly thin, only a few inches wide. Going through the path, one would still be cutting through most of the brush. "Well I'm not much of a tracker either. Sergent Sketchtail here, however, has an exceptionally powerful sniffer! One sniff of Porcine and he should be able to find the nearest pack, save for his variant interfering with the general scent of our target species. Either way, better than wandering about in the thick of it!" Barnaby gives the Smeargle a nudge towards Stefan's Parasect, and the tracking order to find more. "Well Sergent, the lead is yours. Show us your skills and whatnot!" Sketchtail's Tracker: [result]11&2:3:4,3d6,2,11&3d6+2[/result] |

Sketchtail sniffs, and apparently does pick up on some more of those special Parasect... or relatives. Either way, they're in the opposite direction. Stefan himself doesn't see much through this brush, yet... in fact, he sees less, since the brush is somehow getting bigger and thicker, like a forest to a jungle. |

Stefan smiles, impressed. "Damn, that's a pretty neat trick. Think he can find us another? I know at least one other brownsect got away." |

"How's abut we follow where this scent leads us first. One thing at a time, don't build a bridge all in one step you know! First we get the supports!" The colonel lets the Sergent lead forward towards the scents he picked up. Surely this would be a good hunt! Edited by MasterBlade, Mar 19 2014, 07:04 PM.

(Encounter Roll: 1 on 50) Sketchtail leads the Colonel and Stefan through some winding light brush, which leads them to familiar pastures (at least for Stefan). It looks like he did indeed catch the scent of some Paras... not Parasect, but that's forgivable when one of the six Paras he found is a deep, crimson blue. SHINY! |

That one. That is the one. "Lad, there is a time for a team effort, and a time to take life's challenge by the reigns mano el mano. This is one of those times for the second. Stand back, and let me do what I do best." Barnaby huddles with the Sergent for a few moments, whispering and planning for a moment. When they disband, the two mushroom-topped "professionals" get on their knees and start crabwalking towards the horde of Paras. "Paras psychology 101. Paras identify friends through the mushrooms their species bear, and their style of movement. Mimic either and one can theoretically be considered kin, and likely get a friendlier response." Raise Disposition of the Paras: [result]16&3:3:1:6,4d6,3,16&4d6+3[/result] |

Stefan does as he is asked, and merely watches, impressed by the speedy discovery of the shiny paras and amused by Barnabys unorthodox capture methods. Gram is at hand, and he is prepared to unleash one of his own Pokemon as backup. |

The horde of Paras do, in fact, take interest in Barnaby's mushroom shenanigans... they scuttle a bit closer to the Colonel, curious and intrigued, but keep their distance a little bit. |

"Paras psychology 102. In the basic stage of evolution, a Paras's mushrooms have not yet ingrown into the creature's back. Not only are they removable, but they can be planted, swapped, or given to others as gifts." "For Paras, the offering of a mushroom to another is considered a gesture of kindness." The colonel scuttles a bit closer to the Blue Paras, but not too close. He then takes one of the mushrooms from his hat and places it before the creature. Raise disposition by another rank: [result]27&6:6:6:6,4d6,3,27&4d6+3[/result] |

(MERCY ME THAT'S A CRIT) The blue Paras swarms the mushroom curiously... and in happiness, the blue mushroom crab climbs all up on the Colonel's arm, chirping happily. The other five Paras chirp in excitement, swarming at Barnaby's legs. |
