The behemoth pyramid stretches nearly fifty meters tall, with a long set of stairs climbing up the south side. From a distance, one can spy a good deal of light glistening in the stone hallway leading to the antechamber of the pyramid. Within minutes of setting foot on the clay stones that form the ground, the chattering of researches and gloating of treasure hunters fills any daring adventurer's ears.

The antechamber itself is stocked full of tents and lanterns, as well as the people who brought them. A research team of 50 people has decided to set up a base camp right in the mouth of the Clay Pyramid; close enough to tell the light of day, yet far enough into the stonework to feel overwhelmed by the tall tunnel they call home. A number of archaeologists have been painstakingly examining the Pokemon carvings that adorn the walls of the antechamber, while some of the laborers are taking an early break from clearing out the space for living. Lanterns are placed evenly around the chamber, and generators for laptops and machines are scattered about less frequently. From the wall opposite of the entrance, a massive set of stone double doors nearly 10 meters tall casts an ominous gaze on the whole party of researchers.

In the center of the base camp, a sign has been affixed to the ground, reading: "Explorers Needed! See Inside", pointing a large tent to the left. Rife, hearty laughter can be heard from inside.

"Merchant always willing to sell. Subdual techniques good. Also good torture techniques. Costs extra.

Never underestimate what Merchant knows."

Leaving it at that odd statement, which may be a reference to the pyramid or the... 'techniques', Merchant wanders back into his tent to prepare for entry.

Jones appears to be going over some sort of checklist with Digger, and has spread out a number of items in an out-of-the-way space, including the flashlight from earlier, a coil of extremely sturdy looking rope, a few other odds and ends... and a coiled bullwhip. He's meticulously examining everything; and it looks like he won't be done until they're called for the opening of the doors.

With the matter of the plate settled, Diana went about finding a quiet(ish) place to rest while she began examining the artifact, carefully documenting it in every way she could think to do so, taking careful notes. She was likely to not finish her work before the hour of time before the gates opened was used up.

Jason looked around once more with a soft sigh. This group was far too big to stick around with if he really wanted to do any sort of training. Instead he supposed he was going to be on his own and he began to stretch a bit.

Dun will practice tumbling, jumping, and running while he waits.

The rest of the hour creeps by, and finally, it's time for the group to descend into the pyramid!

A few Aggron and Machamp, owned by the supporting archaeologists, work on opening the massive set of stone doors. Slowly but surely, the incredibly strong mons create an opening just wide enough for the exploration team to squeeze into, at least one at a time. Behind the doors appears to be a mid-sized hallway illuminated by torchlight. One of the Machamp, after creating the opening, runs back to Fir.

"Alright, it's about 10 AM now. Spend as much time as you feel you need exploring. If you encounter any Pokemon, feel free to capture them or defeat them as you need to. If there are any traps down there, just... try not to get killed."

Oz strides up to the cavernous door, and glances back at Dunn.

"Well, Dunn. Care to take point with me?"

He fiddles with his cufflinks, and his black suit shimmers, blurring into the background. If you squint, it looks like he's just a floating head and a pair of hands.

He winks at the gathered trainers. "Off we go!"

Merchant follows behind in the front, his Meowth curled around his neck.

"Merchant sneak too. Very good."

Ready to split off at the first opportunity, Merchant stealthily follows.

Following the group into the caverns, Jason quickly began to scan the walls for a place to divert from the rest of them, wanting to get some real training done and not with a huge crowd.

Jones follows after them, Digger at his heels. He's looking around carefully for both traps and for any loose artifacts that might have been left lying around.
