The behemoth pyramid stretches nearly fifty meters tall, with a long set of stairs climbing up the south side. From a distance, one can spy a good deal of light glistening in the stone hallway leading to the antechamber of the pyramid. Within minutes of setting foot on the clay stones that form the ground, the chattering of researches and gloating of treasure hunters fills any daring adventurer's ears.

The antechamber itself is stocked full of tents and lanterns, as well as the people who brought them. A research team of 50 people has decided to set up a base camp right in the mouth of the Clay Pyramid; close enough to tell the light of day, yet far enough into the stonework to feel overwhelmed by the tall tunnel they call home. A number of archaeologists have been painstakingly examining the Pokemon carvings that adorn the walls of the antechamber, while some of the laborers are taking an early break from clearing out the space for living. Lanterns are placed evenly around the chamber, and generators for laptops and machines are scattered about less frequently. From the wall opposite of the entrance, a massive set of stone double doors nearly 10 meters tall casts an ominous gaze on the whole party of researchers.

In the center of the base camp, a sign has been affixed to the ground, reading: "Explorers Needed! See Inside", pointing a large tent to the left. Rife, hearty laughter can be heard from inside.

Stefan looks on as the motley crew discusses topics that are far over his head. All these bookish school types, and a vendor. Its not hard to see how I might contribute. I just have to make myself heard. He raises a hand and begins to speak, trying not to notice people ignoring him.

"Hello friends. The name is Stefan, and I'm not half as clever as you lot. But Krieger here is tough as nails, and if there's danger inside, you'll be glad we're around. But if we're going to be protecting the brains who find the stuff, I want to make sure we get a fair share. This body has to eat, after all. If we're all planning on splitting up, well, I can be hired."

Jones pinches the bridge of his nose. "Diana, our main focus here is as a retrieval team. All of the people that aren't going into the pyramid are going to be preforming the analysis and cataloging you were just talking about. He's offering to buy it off of you because legally that's about the only way they're able to obtain any items we bring out, since the site is technically still public property. And since we're not officially part of the expedition roster, they can't supply us with anything, unless we pay them for it. So we're going to have to sell them items anyway, or starve."

Merchant looks at the man.

"Small group better. I will hire if you help fight, help capture. Profits from findings split. Better to travel in pars."
Nodding his head, he pulls out a sign board. The sign board reads,
"subdual training, 500 pyen each."

He nods his head randomly.
"I teach false swipe to any pokemon."

Stefan nods in agreement. It was exactly what he had in mind. And considering how well-stocked this individual would be. . . .

"It's a deal then."

He takes a seat in the dirt not far from the Merchant. He had nothing else to do until the doors opened, and he couldn't afford the training yet. Maybe someone would try and steal from his employer. That would be some timing.

"I understand the nature of our assignment" Diana began "But plates like this are extremely rare, and who knows the next chance I'll get to examine one up close." She was trying to be diplomatic about the issue, but was also getting rather frustrated, feeling hammered at from all sides over her find. "And if you really want to get down to the fine print, we are being hired to extract artifacts from beyond the gate. This" She gestured to the plate "Was not found beyond the gate, and is not in anyway included in the agreement we established." While she wasn't exactly a fan of using contacts and exact words in any arrangment, she also didn't feel confortable releasing the tablet into another persons possession.

Jason looked to the groups that were already starting to split off and looked around slowly.

"I am also willing to look after a group, keep them safe while they do their researching. It'll help me with my training after all and to be honest, I'm not too concerned with the artifacts, save that I make enough money to keep myself sustained inside the caverns."

Jones shrugs and backs off. "Okay Diana, your find, your call." He turns to look at Jason. "I don't know about you, but I think we should probably stick together, at least to start off. We have no idea how deep this pyramid actually goes; or what may have tunneled in over the years. On top of what may have been sleeping and/or living down there when it was sealed initially."

"Ooh, I'll have to take you up on that offer when I have money." Dun adds.

"All this talk about 'Split the party!' 'Don't split the party!' is silly. I'm here to show off my ninja skills, and ancient ruins that likely have all sorts of traps are the perfect opportunity. The fact I can get money for finding junk in there is a bonus. We don't know squat about what's in there. For all we know, it'll be a single long hallway with no opportunities to split off at all. Or it might be a great puzzle-maze where we'll have to split up in order to remove the Eyes of Eevee at the same time or else the Guardians of the Stones will come alive and eat us. Perhaps we'll get in there and suddenly the door that half of us walked through will become a blank wall, cutting us off from one another."

"In short, we don't know squat about what's in there, and there's no point squabbling about it 'till we do."

Oz hangs back, his eyes darting from speaker to speaker. Finally, he weighs in.

"The sneaky fellow - sorry, didn't catch your name - has a point. Without intel, we're better off playing this by ear. We'll split up if the situation calls for it, but no use making divisions at this juncture."

"Anyway, I have something to attend to. I'll see you again when the doors open." He bows deeply. "Looking forward to working with you all."

With that, he begins wandering about the campsite with his phone, trying to get reception.

"Just call me Dunn. Dunn Junn." Much better than the boring name his lame mother gave him.
