The behemoth pyramid stretches nearly fifty meters tall, with a long set of stairs climbing up the south side. From a distance, one can spy a good deal of light glistening in the stone hallway leading to the antechamber of the pyramid. Within minutes of setting foot on the clay stones that form the ground, the chattering of researches and gloating of treasure hunters fills any daring adventurer's ears. The antechamber itself is stocked full of tents and lanterns, as well as the people who brought them. A research team of 50 people has decided to set up a base camp right in the mouth of the Clay Pyramid; close enough to tell the light of day, yet far enough into the stonework to feel overwhelmed by the tall tunnel they call home. A number of archaeologists have been painstakingly examining the Pokemon carvings that adorn the walls of the antechamber, while some of the laborers are taking an early break from clearing out the space for living. Lanterns are placed evenly around the chamber, and generators for laptops and machines are scattered about less frequently. From the wall opposite of the entrance, a massive set of stone double doors nearly 10 meters tall casts an ominous gaze on the whole party of researchers. In the center of the base camp, a sign has been affixed to the ground, reading: "Explorers Needed! See Inside", pointing a large tent to the left. Rife, hearty laughter can be heard from inside. "Oh, believe me monk," Fir replies to Jason. "This will be great for you." "Our research team thinks the same, but we haven't begun any of the paperwork yet. Too many discoveries to be made." He seems more intent on collecting visual data. "But that's where you come in, of course!" "Pleasure to meet you, Oz. To answer that question, we ask that you enter and exit as a team; however, we can't really control what you do once you go in. Just as well, as long as you're bringing us artifacts, I couldn't care less how you go about it... unless you're blowing up the place, of course." "Flattered that you've read my notes. As for your professors, those stiffs just haven't learned to think outside the box." Seems Fir approves of Henry... but then casts a stern gaze at the Merchant. Shrugging him off, he turns back to the rest of the group. "Now that we've got introductions out of the way, let me line all this out for you. In an hour, we're gonna open the big stone doors you saw on your way in, and send you into that pyramid. None of us have been down there yet, so we're relying on you scouting out the place. Today, you're just gonna take a look around and tell us what you find. If you find any artifacts, bring them back here. We can compensate you for treasure, unless you would rather just take it. We can't stop you from doing that, but do it too much and you'll compromise our expedition. Bum around for a good few hours, come back, and we'll record everything. If you go far enough, we'll get a map for you, provided we have the proper info. Now, unless you have any other questions, I'll see you in an hour." Finishing his spiel, he turns his head to the Merchant. "All six of you." With no more words, the man walks out of the tent, completely unaware of the ninja he passes by on the way out. "How exciting" Diana smiled, after the little group meeting was concluded "The first people in hundreds, heck, thousands of years to enter this pyramid." She said, positively giddy with excitement. "I feel just like Howard Karter opening up the tomb of King Tuten-Cofagrigus" She paused a moment "Hope this one isn't curesed though..." The momentary concern was quickly overcome though "I should get a camera, maybe a few extra research logs...Oh, Maybe do a dowsing rod test, make sure everything is in working order. And a snack. Or two. Did I have breakfast?" Rambling on to herself for a few minutes, she seemed to reach some conclusion "Right then, Prep time it is." Holding up a pokeball, with a flash of light, a small brown Eevee Appeared at her side. "Nike, Guess what? We're going to be the first people into the main chambers!" The tiny pokemon jumped for joy, evidently as happy as Diana herself was. Digging around her backpack, Diana pulled out her dowsing rods and set to work sweeping the area, while Nike took in the smells of the campsite, just in case they needed to use the pokemons superior nose to help find their way back out later. Just as he steps past the ninja, Dunn steps out from behind and says, "There will be one more member of this team." as he taps the man on the shoulder. He may be four years out of high school, but this particular prank never gets old. |

Fir jumps at the sight of the black-clad youth! "Gah! What the- ...okay, SEVEN! No more surprises!" The professor slinks out in embarrassment. Diana makes her prowess known; within ten minutes of being indoctrinated, she has already discovered an old pink tablet, just sitting in the antechamber! Upon closer inspection, the plate is marked in Unown runes at the top. The characters spell out the phrase "MIND PLATE". The other archaeologists are in awe of how they missed such a thing, when it was just sitting in the corner there. Diana has certainly made her mark. One of the explorers comes up to her, offering to make a trade: 3000 Pyen for the plate! |

Diana had a look of absolute hunger as she stared at the plate. Not physical hunger mind you, but rather a deep and gnawing desire. Some people live to fight, some create great works of beauty. Diana lived for moments like this, uncovering secrets of the past. And Something like this was a huge find. She'd only ever seen a single other Plate before, and it had been kept under lock and key in the Lilyove Museum, on loan from Eternia City. To find such a rare artifact, and on her first day no less, was nothing short of a miracle. Heck, she was practically drooling over the thing. The enterprising individual looking to buy the plate off her was met with a flat stare, before she shook her head "No, its not for sale, not even for ten times that amount" |

Jones clears his throat from next to her. "Um, Diana, you did hear what the Professor said about keeping hold of artifacts, right? And while I'm proud of your find, unless you have a pokemon that can utilize it, there's not a lot you can do with this plate besides stick it in your bag. If you sell it to these fine gentlemen, you'll probably be credited with its discovery by name in whatever exhibit it ends up in." He turns and gives the man offering to buy the plate a pointed look. "Right?"" From beside him, Diggers perpetual grin seems to take on a sinister cast for a split second. |

He was ready for the task that was at hand. Finding artifacts wasn't that big of a deal for him, but what was on the inside, the dangers that may be there were perfect. He needed to hone his body further, not only his but Angel's as well. The two of them were a fighting pair and they were ready to get more action. People were already getting into the action of finding stuff for the team though and that could be alright too....he'd probably have to do some of that, just for money to keep himself sustained. |

"Don't sell to him." His silence broken, Merchant intercedes. "Worth far, far more. Wait to later, sell to me." Merchants eyes never leave the plate, and his Meowth seems similarly transfixed. |

"Its not about money, or adulation. I don't even plan to keep it for myself" Diana explained. "But this artifact represents part of a greater understanding of the entire site here, and I'm working to catalog those items as I can. When we finish the excavation, and the plate has been fully indexed and studied, I'll donate it to a museum, so it can be added to a research collection." |
