The behemoth pyramid stretches nearly fifty meters tall, with a long set of stairs climbing up the south side. From a distance, one can spy a good deal of light glistening in the stone hallway leading to the antechamber of the pyramid. Within minutes of setting foot on the clay stones that form the ground, the chattering of researches and gloating of treasure hunters fills any daring adventurer's ears. The antechamber itself is stocked full of tents and lanterns, as well as the people who brought them. A research team of 50 people has decided to set up a base camp right in the mouth of the Clay Pyramid; close enough to tell the light of day, yet far enough into the stonework to feel overwhelmed by the tall tunnel they call home. A number of archaeologists have been painstakingly examining the Pokemon carvings that adorn the walls of the antechamber, while some of the laborers are taking an early break from clearing out the space for living. Lanterns are placed evenly around the chamber, and generators for laptops and machines are scattered about less frequently. From the wall opposite of the entrance, a massive set of stone double doors nearly 10 meters tall casts an ominous gaze on the whole party of researchers. In the center of the base camp, a sign has been affixed to the ground, reading: "Explorers Needed! See Inside", pointing a large tent to the left. Rife, hearty laughter can be heard from inside. Merchant takes the money and hands over five pokeballs. "Merchant has had a reduced price of Pokeballs and has adjusted the payment accordingly. Merchant has added extra pokeballs to make up for it." |

Stefan pockets the pokeballs. "Good. Thank you. The more Pokemon I catch, the more I learn. . . and knowledge is power. I've got to get my abnormal Pokemon back from Fir, but after that I should be ready. Did you want my assistance today?" |

Everyone's tested Pokemon are returned, with much gratitude (and Pyen) given as well. Fir responds to Jason and Merchant's inquiries: "We have two caravans out. The second one should be back in a few hours with your requested supplies... we'll have more details on what we want you to accomplish today once everyone arrives." |

Jason gives a slow nod and gets himself pumped up to go back into the caves, beginning to go diving. |

Jones is taking stock of his inventory. "I'm planning on checking some of the other buildings in the slag ruins, see if I can find anything else. Might even bee a tunnel leading to that sunken cavern you guys are talking about. If I don't find anything, I'll head up to the greenhouse." |

Once everyone has gathered in Fir's tent, he begins his debriefing. "Glad to see most everyone survived. We've studied all the type-shifts you've given us, and we have reason to believe that type-shifts of common Pokemon, such as the Koffing and the Pikachu, must be commonplace in these ruins. Stranger though is the Gastly, a rare Pokemon in our civilization, coming out of magma like it's used to it... therefore, today's goal will be to record every instance of a Type-shifted Pokemon you can find. You don't have to catch them, but it would help our research if you brought a few back. In addition to that, we want you to find some kind of source for these Type-shifted Pokemon... the big bulb in the Greenhouse might be an example, but we don't recommend exploring that until the gas masks arrive. Likewise, there must be something in the water of the Grotto, so we don't recommend spending much time in the water, if you can avoid it. We'll have dive suits for you when the next caravan comes in. Otherwise, that is your goal for the day. Our first caravan of the day came in, but it doesn't contain your equipment. Merely a few supplies for us and the shops... I recommend checking out their inventories before you head out. If there's nothing else to be said, we'll have the stone door open in a few minutes." Edited by BatiroAtrain, Sep 8 2013, 12:34 PM.

"How long until the next caravan arrives? I'd hate to go out and then miss the caravan and miss my dive time." He needed to know how long it'd be before coming back. But he was willing to search more of the Grotto until then. |

Jones nods as Fir concludes the brief. "Right then, I'll be keeping an eye out for any odd mon in the ruins, and see if I can find anything that might be giving off enough thermal energy to change a pokemon like that. Also, how much are the dive suits and gas masks going to run us? Or are they being provided by the expedition?" |

"Merchant special ordered two gas masks. Do not know if more are provided." He checks his equipment, ensures he has the right parts, and goes to find Stephen, to see if he is ready as well. "Further explore the Greenlands today? |

Stefan is not far away, having been standing in the tent with the others. He keeps his voice low. "I don't know. I can't help but feel like everyone else is competition for Pokemon and treasure. They can't investigate that bulb without gas masks, but we don't have anything from the grotto. . . and that totodile you brought me doesn't need a dive tank. Plus it seems that there is still something to be found in the ruins. Perhaps we kill time elsewhere before the gas masks come in and we secure our prize?" |
