The behemoth pyramid stretches nearly fifty meters tall, with a long set of stairs climbing up the south side. From a distance, one can spy a good deal of light glistening in the stone hallway leading to the antechamber of the pyramid. Within minutes of setting foot on the clay stones that form the ground, the chattering of researches and gloating of treasure hunters fills any daring adventurer's ears.

The antechamber itself is stocked full of tents and lanterns, as well as the people who brought them. A research team of 50 people has decided to set up a base camp right in the mouth of the Clay Pyramid; close enough to tell the light of day, yet far enough into the stonework to feel overwhelmed by the tall tunnel they call home. A number of archaeologists have been painstakingly examining the Pokemon carvings that adorn the walls of the antechamber, while some of the laborers are taking an early break from clearing out the space for living. Lanterns are placed evenly around the chamber, and generators for laptops and machines are scattered about less frequently. From the wall opposite of the entrance, a massive set of stone double doors nearly 10 meters tall casts an ominous gaze on the whole party of researchers.

In the center of the base camp, a sign has been affixed to the ground, reading: "Explorers Needed! See Inside", pointing a large tent to the left. Rife, hearty laughter can be heard from inside.

Stefan emerges into the research area alongside Merchant. His eyes immediately scan the massive chamber, looking for any sign of a medic or similar.

Merchant is constantly picking at and organizing his valuables, ensuring that they are all straightened and accounted for.
As he walks, he analysis the goods from the bag that Cat brought him.
"Merchant will be heading to town tonight after selling artifacts here. You are free to do as you please until tomorrow. Merchant will keep ledger of sale for division of proceeds."

He heads to his tent, posting a large "NOW OPEN: ARTIFACTS FOR SALE" sign outside of it.
With a loud voice, he yells to the surrounding archaeologists,
"Valuables for sale, all straight from most dangerous chamber!"

Jones is lying near one of the tents, his focus on the flap. His eyes flicker towards Stefan and Merchant when they enter, but he doesn't make a move to get up.

Stefan, noticing Jones alive and seemingly well, makes his way over, extending his hand.

"Good to see you again. Find anything good when you struck it out alone? Any rare pokemon?"

Jones shakes his head, though he does accept the handshake. "Other than Inferno, I didn't find any other pokemon, and I only had one other pokeball on me. I came back with the stuff I'd found, and they're appraising it now. Fir also has Inferno in there," Jones jerks his thumb at the tent he's sitting next to, "Doing tests on him. Naturally type-shifted mon are pretty rare ya know. And me being the idiot I am, I let them do it for free. So as of now I'm waiting to get him back, and get some cash so I can get more supplies and head back in. Which probably won't be until tomorrow from what Fir told me..." Jones is looking irritated at this point, whether with himself or Fir, it's hard to tell.

"Sounds rough. Well, at least you probably found a good haul. We found a lot more pokemon, but not so much in terms of treasure. . . plus we're going to split the loot."

He can read the irritation on Jones' face, but isn't sure what to make of it. Is he pissed that we ditched him? No, he's more than capable of handling himself.

"Well, at least they can tell you some more about that pokemon - Inferno, you called it?," he takes a step away, rubbing his neck nervously. "Well, let me know if you want a training partner sometime. I'm also thinking of offering to train other people's pokemon if they have their hands full. Just something to consider."

Failing to see a medic nearby, he makes for the main exit, hoping that everyone's too occupied with Inferno and Merchant to stop him. He does pause momentarily at the counter.

"I'm going to try and get some healing for Krieger. I should be back in about an hour or two. If you're gone by then, catch me in the morning. . . and I'm willing to trade my recent acquisitions if you find something I might be interested in."

The appraisal team takes all of the goodies Merchant has scooped up, along with the contents of the bag: a small collection of extremely well-preserved ancient herbs and spices. The total appraisal adds up to 1200 Pyen.

Merchant and Stefan exit the Pyramid, heading out to town... an hour's walk from the Pyramid.

Upon leaving, Stefan considers the state of his team. He was broke still, and he was sure that the entirety of his share of the pay was due to the Merchant. . . if not more. Though they had never settled on a formal agreement, Stefan was sure that Merchant didn't consider his help to be essential. Not with that powerful Meowth of his. Therefore he doubted that they were even yet. With several of his team injured (especially the newer pokemon), going to the Pokemon Center was a necessity, not a privilege. Still, some were more beaten up than others, like the pikachu he had caught. He began considering how much time each of them would need to recuperate, and mentally scheduled training for the ones healthy enough to wait.

At the pokemon center, he drops off Krieger and Donner, his aron and pikachu first. He spends a a little time training Keres and Fernum (the two fire-types) before committing them as well. Once his pokemon are healed, he heads back to the Pyramid. Essentially homeless, at least the Pyramid would provide shelter, and an easy way to get back in touch with Merchant.

Arriving back in the massive antechamber, Stefan scans the room for a sign of Merchant. Not surprisingly, the man is absent. As he said he would be. The night is still relatively young, however. He finds a relatively desolate corner of the cavern and calls forward his three new pokemon, making sure to keep Donner a few meters from the other two.

"Well, then, guys. If you're going to make good sparring partners for Krieger, or even a main pokemon for some other trainer, you're going to need to learn the ropes and how to work together."

Thus, he begins his third round of training for the day.

Training for two hours.
