Does anyone really think Fairy is going to balance Dragon out?

No.

You balance something by taking something away, not adding something else. Otherwise, this happens.

Aw shit, Gen I starter mega evos.

Edit, from Serebii: "Mega Venusaur has the ability Thick Fat, Mega Charizard has the ability Drought and Mega Blastoise has the ability Mega Launcher which boosts its moves."

If I'm understanding correctly, you also get to pick a Gen 1 Starter along with your Gen 6 starter. So you start the game with 2 friggin' starters!

So, Venusaur gets pseudoresistance to Ice and Fire.
Charizard gets a free Sunny Day.
Blastoise gets. . . uh, a buff to certain moves? I'm guessing its gonna be a pretty significant buff to match the usefulness of the other two. Might make Hydro Cannon pretty dang powerful.

Oh tits, they knew just how to make Charizard viable for once. I mean, I could see some people still using Ninetales since weather wars require a lot of switching, and it looks like Stealth Rock will still melt Charizard's face. But I imagine the stat boosts Charizard will get will be well worth it.

Anyway, GET HYPE

SR would still melt Charizard's face even if Mega Charizard was Fire/Dragon;
On his(/her) turn:
1) Charizard enters;
2) gets SRed;
3) Megavolves;
4) uses Blast Burn (or w/e);
in this order, so is still Fire/Flying when SR resolves.

Just lead with it then. No SR to fear until you swap it out.
