I have a feeling they are avoiding addnig evolutions (pre or post) to old mon. They've since stopped adding them as of Gen 5,
You mean one generation ago? A single data point doesn't make a trend. We have Gen II (Politoad, Scizor, Steelix, and Tyrogue to bind Hitmonlee and Chan together), Gen III (Wynaut and Azurill, which I grant may have been a trend had it not been for Gen IV), Gen IV (a host of new evos, a couple of prevos). Gen V was the only one to have no connections to a previous generation (though Alomola was almost a Luvdisc evo I think before they decided to go with the total disconnection from previous gens)

Gen V is definately an outlier due to the intent on keeping it disconnected. I look forward to new evos in Gen VI

Sylveon is the new evolution to be revealed thus far. With the hype of Fairy type, I can see why they chose Sylveon to show case it. However, I find it suspicious they haven't even hinted at any other new additions to old families. I don't have proof, just a hunch. Feel free to rub my nose in it if I'm wrong.

Supposedly Serebii heard rumors of a Sudowoodo evo (or at least it looks like it, but it may be fake).

Well we know Orotto isn't fake since it's been shown at the release of the newest Pokemon Movie. Whether it's a Sudowoodo evo I'm not so sure of. It's design appears to be too sinister compared to the rather jovial nature of Sudowoodo and Bonsly (who was a major crybaby in the anime at least). I'm thinking it's a brand new grass/dark? type or something like that.

from what I heard, gen 5 didn't have any new evolutions of old mons because they 'gamefreak' wanted to start the franchise over, or 'make a new gen 1 game'.

in that case, I expect the majority of new evolutions to be for mons that were introduced in gen 5

Judging from the phonetics of the Japanese name, I'm betting it's a ghost/grass, not grass/dark.

Well I said Grass/Dark, not Ghost, but yeah, Ghost would make sense as well. Hopefully it'll be released in the next CoroCoro of something.

I don't think you can really assume anything as fact about the new region yet as only a few pokemon have been shown. Also saying "they definately have stopped mking new evos" is bullshit, because Sylveon exists
