What was her con, two? Also, I have an epic moment to share from the last campaign. So we're going through a gym in which the challenge is to answer questions about Pokemon, mostly pertaining to dex entries. There's a total of five questions. My character, the Researcher (who got to snag the Professor class after getting the badge due to trainer leveling) was basically answering every question with little difficulty. When we got to the third question, my character was having trouble, and he had to think about it. So he, along with the party's martial artist, started thinking of what the answer might be. (It turned out to be Sandshrew.) He could have said it, but wanted to give it a bit more thought. When we were on the verge of saying 'Sandshrew', my party's other member blurted out 'CUBONE!' thus triggering a Pokemon battle (which we won handily). This ticked the martial artist off quite a bit, having lost a question on a mere technicality, since it was very apparent that Sandshrew was the consensus. We got to the gym leader's room and managed to answer all the remaining questions correctly, thus avoiding a potentially painful battle. (The gym leader happened to be Gary Oak.) Everyone's given the badge, but the martial artist gets so angry that he wants to slug Oak one, and he attempts to punch him. He fails the roll horribly, and as a result his fist is just hanging there in the air. Oak, in response, fistbumps the martial artist and says "Yes! A fistpump! Of men! Congratulations!" And there would have been much rejoicing. Edited by DNA, Aug 22 2012, 09:05 PM.

I hate natural 1s. Every time my Magnezone uses Thunderbolt or Charge Beam, a natural 1 (or 2) is always involved ;_; |

So, did my first session last Tuesday, and decided to do a randomized encounter. Ended up rolling Absol, Spoink, both sexes of Nidoran, and Hoppip. Ironically, Spoink was one of the wishlist mons for one of my players, who is a Psychic. Another is a Martial Artist who currently only has a Sawk and a Tyrogue. They encountered the Absol first, thanks to my Capture Specialist/Engineer's modified pokeradar picking up its movements and moving to intercept. One of the trainers has his Torchic out and gets off a nasty peck attack. My capture specialist goes for a capture, and fails. Then the martial artist winds up and lands a karate chop. BOOM. K.O.'ed it. Thankfully due to a home rule, didn't kill it. But since you can't capture K.O.'ed pokemon, my capture specialist was a bit ticked. The irony is that I fully expected him to try and capture it, not clock it one. |

It's at that point that the Capture Specialist learns to KEEP INFORMATION AWAY FROM THE MARTIAL ARTIST! We've lost many a capture to our Martial Artist, Riley. He disappeared for a while due to school, but, much to my players' chagrin, he's been brought back. Best part, the very first (and only) battle we did last session involved him Close Combating a Purrloin through a tree and then High Jump Kicking another one into the ground. |

That sounds more like the DM just being a bit of a jerk to that one PC. |

Unfortunately this is all occurring about 1000 years in the past. No PETA to speak of. Plus, I doubt even they would be able to beat him. He's just too tough. >.> |

Three counter-points. One, I'm the GM, so keeping info away from the players wouldn't be looked well upon, two, he honestly didn't think that it would KO the Absol, and three, how was I supposed to keep it secret? All the radar showed was a fast-moving ground-bound pokemon. It can't detect type or level, and the party wasn't about to split intentionally (Aside from the Psychic, who managed to talk one of the three Spoink we encountered into coming with him with help from his Ralts after spotting one of them bouncing above the bushes and going after it).
