This scene which happened in our last session. The spoilered part is included for context. Basically, we beat the bad guy, but he escaped, leaving behind a key. Spoiler: click to toggle
Personally, I hope this becomes a running gag. |

As a co-GM of a campaign which is part real-time MapTools sessions and part Play by Post forum turns (where the day is decided with a maximum of three skill rolls), I am responsible for rolling the skill rolls and other mechanical business. While I roll the skill rolls, I note that one player nearly failed all of his skill rolls, while one of the two of the other players who grouped together for the same action got a natural 20. On a system (old PTU, otherwise known as FORK9) where criticals were a 1% chance each, this was a big deal. Not as big a deal, I thought though, in skill rolls. The other GM, the one whose job it is to fill in the fluff, just posted. When I read it, I just remembered that the last session had an option of defusing a bomb before it went near their territory. They didn't take it. This is what happened. |

One of the most memorable moments I've seen was when I was running Sabrina for our GM for one of the players when our game ran late. I was given her Pokemon's stats, and instructions to not go easy. It was to be a 1v1 contest, with 2 Pokemon each. The first match-up was Gallade v Blissey. Gallade had no fighting moves to take advantage of weakness, but proved more than a hassle with Double Team to stay safe from most attacks. Eventually the real copy was identified, and Blissey unleashed her strongest attack: a Shadow Ball. But one Teleport out of the way and a quick Slash later, it was a forgone conclusion. With not the strength to damage it, the Blissey was little more than a well-padded punching bag. After losing a total of 3HP to copy loss, the Blissey was down. Then out came the Blastoise. This was a much more even match-up, especially without Teleport and Double Team protecting it. Although the Blastoise came out on top, it was incredibly weakened. Sabrina then brought out a Kirlia, with intent to end it quickly. Fragile, sure, and easily threatened by a powerful Bite attack, but a decision that seemed logical, considering. Sabrina gave the order. A Magical Leaf, to ensure victory. With a move that could not miss and that would deal devastating damage, Sabrina thought it all over. And it should have been. The Blastoise should've gone down. But in a last ditch effort, it decided 'Not Yet!' and lunged at the Kirlia. It placed it's jaws around it's head, and with it's last bit of consciousness, brought the Kirlia down with it. tl;dr? the use of the feature Not Yet! results in a Double KO and a stunning come-from-behind victory (it was deemed acceptable to reward her the badge for her efforts) |

This didn't seem terribly unique to me, but it was memorable. This was during the second round of a pokemon battle tournament and our Party's ace trainer's Meinshao ,Speigel, was battling a Krokorok. The battle was terribly one-sided, Speigel opened with meditate to boost its attack, then it dodged the Krokorok's dig attack using detect, and it finished the Krokorok with brick break, it rolled a nat' 20 which combined with the additional attack power from the ace trainer and meditate AND the x4 type advantage bonus did enough damage to kill the Krokorok twice over. It was ridiculous. |
