Did they have some sort of rivalry beforehand? Alternately, were they romantically involved?

Also, I hope you cleared that long-lost sibling thing with them before doing this.

This sounds like Star Wars.

cleared it with them before? no that would spoil the fun.

were they ok with it when I revealed the twist? yes they were indeed they're just RPing denial if they wouldn't have liked it i could have back pedaled and said the Unown were forging memories.

its just sorta fitted together the elementalists father was from orre. the spec ops ranger was from orre. they were far enough apart in age. the elementalist is well and elementalist, while the ranger is collecting eevees a very elemental pokemon.

ok I promise this one is shorter than the last ones I put up. I realize I get a bit wordy.

Anyways, 10 year old Zubat-crude crazy Psychic/Earth Shaker girl. See's a Vulpix fighting a Pinsir. Vulpix beats it, then get sucker punched (not the move) by the Pinsir's mate, yet another Pinsir. Little girl (who normally never shuts up talking with telepathy), just runs. Puts herself between the Pinsir and the Vulpix, Giga Drain. Ally crits with an arms attack. The two attacks combined drop it very low. It gets pissed, uses Revenge pinning her between its pincers. It crits, dropping her from near max HP to 11 HP, just under being able to use Giga Drain again. Pissed, I shove a pokeball in his face.

From the GM, I have tamed it by the simple fact of surviving its strongest hit, ever. And I get the Vulpix as soon as I buy more pokeballs.

Team Rocket are in the middle of attacking Pewter City, attacking the group the PCs are working with. Main 2 targets are the Museum and the Gym. PCs split up, teaming up with the Gym Leader, while one accompanies the NPC to get inside the Museum.

They get to the gym, which is surrounded by a sandstorm (Pewter is now a Ground Gym, it's set 35 years after the games). PCs grab some GoGoggles, and charge into the fight. A group of grunts are charging the Gym door with a bomb, but the PCs being smart grabbed some mons from the leader. These new mon let them destroy the bomb squad. Suddenly, an old karate master falls from the sky on the back of his flying shifted Wailord, ready to kill the PCs and blow up the gym. I was going to have him hop off the whale and throw the bomb at the Gym door.

Instead, the Martial Artist of the group, an idiot wrestler who somehow survives everything by being too stupid, decides to throw the bomb at him first. Fails the STR check to throw it far enough. All PCs, the Old man and his mon (Flying Shifted Wailord and Ghost Shifted Chatot), and all but 1 of the gym pokemon get caught in the blast.

I roll for damage. The wrestler critted. Knowing I was using explosion for the damage, the crit would have killed almost all of them. I rule it lands in the blowhole, and blows it up from the inside. Therefore, only the Wailord takes the crit. If it dies, they get blasted.

Explosion happens, and the Wailord is blown up from the inside. PCs are all blasted to nearly fainted, and the old man in standing in a pile of whale guts, missing one arm. And now he is very very pissed.

I take offense for that... even though it's all true. >_>

Okay, so, one of the games I'm in, the GM has introduced something called "Notorious" Pokemon. This goes hand in hand with another mechanic he's introduced called "modding". TMs and HMs are types of mods (since pokemon are stored as digital data in pokeballs, they can be easily altered.) Though some other types of mods can be applied to have other effects; which may also have unexpected and potentially lethal side effects, such as artificially teaching an off-type move to a pokemon, like Surf on a Magmortar could cause it unbearable agony and pretty much set its Loyalty to 0, if it doesn't outright kill it. These Notorious Pokemon are, essentially, Optional Boss Battle pokemon; which it would be impossible for a single trainer to take on. We'd encountered two so far:

A Honchkrow that had been modded with Psychic abilities. It received a jump in intelligence... as well as insanity. It now psychically controls a large network of low-level pokemon (mostly Murkrow) and is ruling a large swatch of forest between the group's hometown and the nearest town. Oh, and it's completely fine with murdering humans. We ran into this bad boy as a full party at the start of the adventure, and had to run for our lives.

A gigantic Rotom (level 30) that knows Toxic. Known as a Junk Rotom, because it's possessing a number of befouled pieces of machinery found near a break in a sewer line that was originally set up in order to lure poison-type pokemon away from the two towns. It's also essentially imprisoning the last remnants of a pack of Growlithes that used to roam the area in a tiny habitat; occasionally driving one out. The PC who ran into him very nearly died if not for a Gyrados-ex-Machina, courtesy of a Magikarp he'd helped out earlier in his solo session (helped toss it pass some waves a couple of times after it kept getting beached. Third time he tossed it, it ended up evolving on sheer willpower.) It showed up later and managed to both avoid getting fried by the stronger Rotom due to a luckily bad roll on its part, and a couple of Dragon Rages to the ghost's face. It fled, and so did the PC.

And just last night, my own character had a run-in with a new Notorious pokemon. A Slaking that once belonged to a member of the Elites (There's more than 4 of them in this Region, all very secretive and little-known) over 100 years ago. The thing is truly monstrous in size. And doesn't. Have. Truant. My Petrologist disturbed its beauty sleep while preforming Digging for the Past; and the only reason I got away is because it had to shove trees down to get at me, while I could run around them. After I escaped, I ran into an old man who'd had his leg ripped off for disturbing the beast.

Needless to say, dealing with these things gain us not only level awards, but potentially other rewards as well. We've managed to get some Gym Leader backup to deal with the Rotom, so next group session we'll see how things go.

This may be a "you had to be there" kind of deal, but... It was awesome for us. I'm going to share it anyway.

So, as I mentioned in the "We Are Tohoku: Ask Us Anything" thread, my campaign is now a year old. I decided we should really celebrate, so I worked up a special session for the occasion. (The background on who my campaign's characters are is in that link; I won't bother reposting it here.)

So, this comes in two parts: Some set-up, which you can read if you're curious, and the actual celebration, which is the heart of the story.
Set-Up

So, to set the scene, I started things off with some magic.

Magic

Mike:* ...Suddenly, the wind kicks up, and the snow in the box goes flying, swirling around, glittering in the air.
Mike:* The snow continues to swirl, and as it does, you can feel yourself being pushed back by the wind - a gentle, but firm, tugging.
Mike:* The wind swirls the snow more, and it glistens more and more brightly... and then, disappears. (loading)
* Celes watches the display, entranced by the glistening snow.
Mike:* First, a campfire appears in the rocks up the hill, merrily burning and crackling away...
Mike:* Three large, red socks appear, hanging from the large rocks atop the hill. They quickly fill themselves, magically, with bits of candy.
Mike:* The evergreen tree in the middle of the glade suddenly shoots up, growing several feet in a single spurt!
Mike:* A garland of snow traces itself around the now-huge tree, and little lights appear all about its needles.
Mike:* Finally, a bright, yellow star appears atop it.
Mike:* Finally, beautifully-wrapped boxes appear, popping up from the snow, wrapped in gossamer ribbon.
Mike:* The wind dies down, and the snow settles.
* Saya stares dumbfounded at what just happened.
* Celes is staring as everything stats appearing and changing, her jaw gaping as she looks around.
Radio (portable):* The last thing to appear is a radio, playing softly, giving the air some happy music.
Valerian:For the first time in ages Valerian was impressed by someone who wasn't herself.
Saya:".......Not even gonna ask."
* Tulip watched it all happen, eyes sparkling like a kid at Christmas.
Mike:Happy anniversary, everybody. Enjoy the gifts - but open 'em one at a time! I wanna be able to point my camera, like the proud papa I feel like right now.

I'll note that this was all happening with sprites, too, since my game is done entirely in MapTools. So they actually had a huge pile of presents, each being a Token that I would change from "closed and wrapped" to "open and unwrapped", before depositing the gift in its own Token.

The rest of the night, I was hands-off: It was just me describing the presents, and the players interacting amongst themselves and enjoying their gifts - and gradually losing their cool, transforming from "adult players" to "kids in a candy store". I'll post highlights below.

A Dragon's Hoard

Advanced Overclocking

That Warm Feeling

Evolution

A New Friend

Another New Friend

I'e also attached an image of the game at the end, with all the presents open, and the Trainers enjoying a hot cup of cocoa and chatting peacefully, and their Pokemon enjoying candy from the stockings.

All in all, it was a great way to celebrate an anniversary. My players enjoyed it immensely. With any luck, I can try to top it in a year. ^_^

Oh wow, that was excellent. Just curious, was the name "Hotei" a reference to anything? Also, can you give some description of your custom feats?
