That just kind of sounds like douchebag DM, there. Need more context than "And I killed off their most cherished Pokémon with a god." |

Ah, sorry. ^_^; They were killed, covered in a purple encasing, they glowed, tokens appeared with legendaries on them, and then the encasing broke, and all the precious pokémon were fine, and were now shiny. It was the plot premise. In this world, shinies means blessed by legendary pokémon. Edited by Dragonqueen, Feb 2 2013, 09:49 AM.

Wouldn't it have been better if they refused? I'm not sure how leaving one of your precious partners to get killed earns you a blessing... |

Esprit: No stat benefits. It will have plot importance. It will also be important because they can channel the legendary on the token, and their stats will combine, so I guess that's a benefit. Gray: Some did! It didn't matter to Arceus, cause Arceus already picked them ahead of time (with the dreams, and help of the unown). Arceus used legendary abilities to take them down anyway. I was actually expecting some people to pull a "forget you Arceus, I ain't helping you with anything" after the matter, but no one did. --shrug-- Edited by Dragonqueen, Feb 2 2013, 11:18 AM.

So, playing in a homebrew region that butts up against Orre. On a call to the Gym Leader from our group's hometown, we're discussing how corrupted most of the Elites (there's more than four of them in this region) are, when the call suddenly cuts out. When we try to call our parents, or the Professor in town, we get messaged like "This call cannot be completed for your safety" or "this number is no longer in service". We're starting to get pretty paranoid, thinking that we're apparently living in a secret police state without having realized it up until now; when the GM posts this stinger: "The number you are calling is no longer avail-" Suddenly, all your phones start ringing, and pick up automatically, and the screen on the PC changes to a symbol, the same one on the machine that had been hurting Voltorb. You stare at it for a second, and you hear someone run into the center, breathing hard. He's clad in the same kind of pink garb the Nurse is. "You... you won't believe what's happeni-" He looks at the computer. "It's happening here, too? Even the Radio Tower's screen got highjacked." Suddenly, the screen shifts to a man cloaked in shadow. You can see an army of faceless men behind him. His voice (which sounds a little like Woobatman) rings out: "People of Myneo. Too long have you been held under the heel of the Elite. Too long have they kept you ignorant. TOO LONG have they hidden you from each other. TOO LONG have they hidden themselves from you. "But I am here to change that. We are Anarchy. In our dark flames, all the impurities of this land will be burned away. All that will be left... is you. "You will be strong, and free. "We are Anarchy." "We are Peace." "We are Cipher." (Context: We stumbled upon a Cipher operative that had just murdered three Rangers while trying to destroy a shrine to Shaymin. After defeating the guy's two Shadow Pokemon, the peon escapes after mentioning a bomb. We hear a Voltorb suddenly begin freaking out from under the Shrine. Luckily, my character's starter was a Poliwag. With Damp. So I scooped him up and ran for the shrine. We managed to save the Voltorb, and it became the new partner to a rookie Ranger that had accompanied us, after her previous partner was literally cut down by a Shadow Scyther. Said Voltorb was strapped to a machine that was applying intense pressure to its shell. My Poliwag shorted it out with a Bubble, and the rookie Ranger managed to calm it with her Styler.) |

So we got an influential, elementalist, spec ops ranger, ninja, and breeder So my PC's were adventuring in some Unown ruins their guide a runemaster/gymleader/local governing figure casually said not to touch anything made out of gold which was just a reference to a webcomic. This immediately sparked the parties spec ops rangers interest cause she was always short on cash for buying things for her class. I had the rune master say there were more important matters to deal with and it was dropped for the time being. one trip to bowels of ruins, a prophecy, and a fight with dark cloaked body snatchers later the PC's haven't forgotten about the gold and want to try and navigate trapped rooms to get some. since they are beat up from the fight I decided not to use lethal traps and instead had each give a list of things that scare their PC's so the Unown could make their worst fears and nightmares real instead. the highlights of this are as follows Influential: her room was rigged to that if you disabled the trap rigged to the gold idol it would arm the trap rigged to pressure plates in the floor but were disabled at start. she telekinetically tested the floor and found it to be a big pressure plate but when nothing happened she assumed all the traps in the room were off and just grabbed the idol setting off her whole fear list and made it so she couldn't talk with her starter which took a side quest to fix. Elementalist/and Spec ops ranger: found out they were siblings by the Unown digging up suppressed childhood memories. Ninja/Breeder: had a room where they had to guess a word(it was "please"). they would have had to take two traps to get a hint and one trap to test if they are right before grabbing thier loot if the just grabbed thier loot with the wrong answer then 4 traps would spring on them. they used math to reason they were better of just grabbing but didn't realize there were two of them which meant 4 traps each instead of 4 traps flat. In the end two people were brought to tears, the elementalist has been in a daze for three days because he realized he has a sister. and the spec ops ranger is in a state of complete denial. EDIT: I should mention they are in denial IC. OOC the players like the sibling twist Edited by passinglurker, Feb 3 2013, 08:50 PM.
