So, I have a story, though not the one I thought I would be telling. Two players, the party's Researcher(/Photographer/Professor) Elizabeth and Martial Artist(/Ninja) Mord walked into my "Boss Lair" where they were met by Vlad, an egotistical Team Rocket Admin with swirly blonde hair shaped like soft-serve ice cream (hoorah for Pokemon and it's allowance of ridiculous hairstyles!). Naturally, he knows the party infiltrated his facility, and is prepared to deliver a full punishment. At this point, Mord remembers he has a reputation as a thief as a result of earlier incidents (see a previous post of mine). Using this as a base, he tries to convince the Admin that he came here to join Team Rocket. Elizabeth panics, being caught by a traitor all of a sudden, but he whispers "go along with it" to her, allowing her to realize that he's faking. He succeeds in convincing Vlad to hire him, and asks to confirm the deal with a handshake. When Vlad shakes his hand, the MA declares it as a grapple and uses Sleep Powder. At this point, it becomes an all-out battle. Vlad reacts in time to the surprise attack to be able to make a dodge attempt, and Mord rolls a 3 for AC on Sleep Powder, causing it to miss. He and Vlad begin a battle of grapples with each other while Elizabeth calls out Blitzle, having Mord move away with "Game Plan" before ordering a Thunder Wave on the Admin. Much to their surprise, the electricity has been absorbed into an item he pulled out in the middle of the brawl- a gun. Quick Aside to Explain Relevance: Spoiler: click to toggle Naturally, the party was shocked such an event had occurred, and responded first with more grapple checks from Mord. To test her theory, Elizabeth decided to have Blitzle fire a Shock Wave at Vlad. As expected, he absorbed that shot too. With the newly-found bullet in his gun, he opened fire on Mord. Mord survived the hit with little difficulty, then began grappling again, requesting Elizabeth to try a different strategy. She swapped her Pokemon to call out Kimi the Vulpix, who used Confuse Ray to hit both Vlad and Mord (Forgot about the column effect). Mord managed to make a grapple check despite confusion, and Vlad tore out of it immediately to try to resist. Realizing her shot wasn't quite ready yet, she swapped to Will-o-Wisp, burning Vlad. The following round had Vlad pinned to the ground by Mord, and Kimi using the move Hex. While he was still conscious after taking the hit, his Burn status drained the rest of his health. All before I could use the super-awesome stuff I had planned. The rest of the campaign involved them taking the body to the local Dojo (home to Mord), convincing Detective Gumshoe to help them keep Vlad away from the untrustworthy Police Chief Gant by staging a Rocket attack, and now half the party is on a search to find explosives for use in blowing up the factory. Additionally, I have to be careful what I say on here, now that the party is watching this site... one of them has even made an account here. Edited by The Black Glove, Nov 5 2012, 07:45 AM.

Now it's time for a new Let's Wound Tara story! Or, how to make your characters de-atrophy their most atrophied stats. My capture specialist, Tara, went fishing off of the coast of Cinnabar Island. I caught a few Pokémon, and a Poliwag was my fourth thing on the line. I caught that, not realizing that its entire family was going to come after me. First, there were two Poliwhirl that came out of the ocean. Then, three Politoed, at which point, I began backing away slowly. Then a Poliwrath began to charge at me. Sonya, my Sealeo, froze it, at which point, brilliant me decided "I'm going to catch it." I caught it. The second Poliwrath ended up using Circle Throw on my Sealeo, and then on me directly. Needless to say, I was knocked out at the end of that encounter. So, following up, I was rescued by Karmic, my brother and a Martial Artist (a DMPC). After the last time (as I posted in a while ago), when Lance, our Snagger saw me, his response was "What was 'knife' this time?" When I next got a level, I immediately put a point in CON, which brings me up to 6 in CON. |

So. Party is stranded in a new region that seems to be chock full of spiritual brouhaha. We have a bunch of cross-classers in the party. We've arrived at a city where the spiritual brouhaha is in full tilt- if this were Breath of Fire, it would be a 'Hex Zone'. As it is, there's a thick miasma over everything that causes the Poisoned Status... And the more powerful a psychic you are, the worse it gets, leading up to outright control/insanity. Perhaps unsurprisingly, we run into a giant Haunter when we discover that one of the shops' owners and a customer have been dream eaten into a vegetative state. If this sounds familiar, it did to me, as well, Kerry (my character, a Martial Artist) labeled it 'The Black Fog'. The persons in question here were Johan- our Researcher (Petrologist), myself (Martial Artist/Empath), and Coraveda (Psychic/Beauty Modeler). After a few turns running around the shop, we get it enclosed by Cleanse Tags and Kerry Empathizes with it as a stunt, and determines it's the culprit. It's forced to give up its dinner, but escapes. Problem solved. Right? Fast forward to this session, where Coraveda, Kerry, and Musanim (an Ace Trainer/Chef) are exploring a nearby landmark, the Pharoh's Tomb (Geography's a bit of a bugaboo around these parts). We've been going through the maze and traps of the place for a bit, and at this point, everyone's starting to get a bit tired, especially Musanim, who is a little annoyed at wallhoppin' little girls everywhere. So, Kerry decides to try and scan for the missing children we were looking for, and crit fails... Which, of course, sends out a nice juicy beacon to the Black Fog. "... Okay, I think this is our cue to run, we've got a giant Haunter, incoming." That was about the only warning I could give before the boss fight began... eventually managing to make the KO on it (as well as the GM noting they might have to make bosses a little tougher in the future- I can't say I disagree as BF looked to be twice our average PL). Best failure. |

Things that happened in last session that are interesting: 1. We saved the Gym Leader and Mayor from certain death, along with preventing the death of Cerulean's economy. 2. We lost to Elite Four Will twice. Well, Red lost to Will twice. Turns out he likes to play with people's minds and call Future Sight attacks by snapping his fingers. He also is a member of Neo Team Rocket. 3. Will threatened Red and I with mind murdering. We didn't want to risk it, so we stayed in the Pokémon Center like good little hostages. 4. Team Rocket is kinda...split in three now, the one led by Giovanni (crime syndicate not bent on domination), the Purists (bent on domination, allied with the Mewtwo that's trying to manipulate everyone) and Neo Team Rocket (more extreme version of the Purists, want Giovanni dead). 5. We saved Giovanni from certain death. 6. Will escaped after we neutralized the assassin after Giovanni. Now we're going back to Saffron City to let me help with finishing the Master Ball project. |

Well, the weirdest thing ever just happened in our session. So, our team of 3 trainers (would have been 4 but one of them couldn't make it) are fighting against a squadron of 7, yes, SEVEN Regigigas. Fortunately, we're fighting them in a forest so they can only come at us one at a time, which sorta helps. Okay, so one of these Gigas attempted to target our Martial Artist/Black Belt with an unknown attack with an AC of 12. Given how the MA had 8 Evasion due to a held item, the Gigas would have needed a 20 (critical) to hit; any other number would result in a dodge. The GM typoes and writes 1d20 +12 instead of -12. It comes up as a natural 1. Due to our campaign rules, typoes get rerolled. Natural 20. Critical. We all just kinda stare in disbelief as the roll goes straight from 1 to 20. The MA is about to take the hit, when our resident Psychic/Medic comes to the rescue with Probability Control, to reroll the AC check die. Natural 20, again. It only did about 1/3 of the MA's HP in damage, but still... The RNG gods clearly hate us. |

1st cross game cameos like recurring npc's or retired pc's turned npc showing up are memorable. 2nd I don't know if the players will find this memorable but it will always be burned in my memory how I threw a Slakoth yawn bomb at them for an ambush and they all made their wake up checks next round. the battle is still kinda ongoing but they have basically dominated as a result. |

Also worth noting from Azure: Those Fucking Aggron! The GM hinted they were waaaaaaay out of our league, but we didn't get the hint until we were already highly invested in the battle. We chased one off with roar, and hurt the other one badly with Endeavor. The injured Aggron proceeds to use Explosion, killing my starter and almost killing my character. I actually should have died. My DST throw was *one* higher than my level, but we were due a TL after the encounter so the GM let me take it early to save my life. Also, from the first MT game that I ran with Kuji; in the first battle we had a player who didn't quite understand what 'burst' meant. He proceeded to hit half the party with Waterpulse and confused em. |
