HI community!! I am working on some home brew rules to expand the general trainer features. I have hit the limit of ideas to aid in the expansion of this area. So I am turning to the community to get ideas. You do not need to post any mechanics just the idea of what you would like to see. Once I have completed this list and the other Home Brew rule for trainers I am working on I will post them. Thanks for the Aid and hope to see some cool ideas!! Malikjack |

Just to give everyone some possible guidelines, I will mention some possible rules to these features. -Remember, it is probably best that these features be either less useful or less powerful then Class features. Any joe-schmoe could take these features, you don't need to use up a valuable class slot to take them. -These features CAN have multiple possible stats associated with it. A string of all Physical stats or all Mental stats are reasonable possibilities. Following the first rule, it might be best that these stats are not added together however, and instead are used instead of each other. See Voltorb Flip or Remedial First Aid for tips. -Alternatively, you can have strong features that have pre-requisites from multiple classes. These 'Cross Class' features could include ways to finally apply those Combat Focus feats to your Pokemon body when using Possession, as an example. -Skills! Using Let's Get That Lock Open and I've Heard About This Place Before as guidelines, make features to handle those obscure skill checks. A feature that gives a big bonus to Perception checks! A feature that allows you to reliably forge documents! A feature for increasing your Surface and Underwater capabilities to equal your Overland! All of these things are great General features. |

Remedial First Aid+ Prereq: Remedial First Aid Daily- Every 10 levels gained, you may use this feature another time per day Target: Trainer suffering from Poison, Paralysis or Burn Effect: Roll 1d20 and add your WIS or INT modifier. The target's Poison, Paralysis or Burn is suppressed for that many minutes. The target must be cured normally within that time or the status affliction will return. Swimmer Prereq: 12 STR or 12 DEX or 12 CON Static Target: Yourself Your Surface and Underwater speeds now equal your Overland speed. Run Away! Prereq: 12 DEX Daily Target: Yourself, while trying to escape You gain a +5 bonus to your escape check. Stylish Combatant Prereq: Ace Trainer AND Coordinator Static Target: Your pokemon Your pokemon may spend contest stat points during a battle. They may only spend points on damaging moves that have a matching contest type, at a rate of 1 point for +2 to damage. These points are spent when the move is declared, and are restored at the end of the battle as normal. Your pokemon may not spend any more points than it would normally be able to at once in a contest. I'll post more as I think of them! Edit: Thought of more way faster than I thought I would, so I'm putting them in the same post. Wild Swing Prereq: 13 STR Daily Target: Enemy who you just scored a critical hit on with an Arms Feature Effect: The target is Flinched. Look What I Found! Prereq: 15 WIS Weekly- Every 7 levels gained, you gain an extra use per week Target: Anywhere outside of a town Effect: Use the ability Pickup. PokeFan Prereq: Own target pokemon Static Target: Pokemon of one evolutionary family Effect: Your owned Pokemon of the chosen evolutionary family gain a 10% bonus to EXP and increased loyalty (GM's discretion), and you gain a +2 bonus on any checks made to befriend Pokemon of the chosen species. This is fun. I'll be sure to post any more I come up with! Edit 2: MORE! MORE! Desperate Flailing Prereq: Level 1 Daily Target: Enemy Trainer(s) or Pokemon Effect: While under 25% health, you make an Arms Attack with the Scatter keyword against the target(s), with a +2 penalty to the AC and a maximum of 3 hits. Explorer Prereq: WIS 12 or DEX 12 or CON 12 Static Target: Self Effect: The user gains a +2 bonus on all checks to navigate through areas, spot danger and resist the elements while away from civilization. Combat Backup Prereq: Let Me Help You With That+ Daily- Every 10 Levels you gain an extra use of this feature per day Target: Allied Trainer or Pokemon Effect: Use Helping Hand on the target ally. Snap Out of It! Prereq: 13 CHA Daily- Every 10 Levels you may use this feature an extra time per day Target: Ally Trainer or Pokemon with the Sleep, Infatuation or Confusion status affliction Effect: Roll 1d20 and add your CHA modifier. On a 14 or higher, the target is cured of sleep, infatuation or confusion. Amateur Chemist Prereq: 13 INT Daily Target: Items Effect: Pay 150 and roll 1d20, adding your INT modifier. On a 10 or higher, roll 1d6 to find out what item you created; Potion on a 1; Repel on a 2; Antidote on a 3; an Awakening on a 4; a Parlyze Heal on a 5; and a Burn Heal on a 6. Edit 3: And it continues. Too many ideas... Bug Maniac Prereq: 12 INT or 12 CON, Owned Bug Pokemon Static Target: Wild Bug Pokemon Effect: You may subtract your INT or CON modifier from capture rolls to catch Bug type Pokemon. Fisherman Prereq: 12 DEX or 12 CON, Owned Water-Type Pokemon Static Target: Wild Water Pokemon Effect: You may subtract your DEX or CON modifier from capture rolls to catch Water type Pokemon. Magikarp Salesman Technique Prereq: 14 CHA Daily- Every 5 levels gained, you may use this feature another time per day Target: Trainer Effect: Roll 1d20 and add your CHA modifier. If you roll higher than the Target's WIS modifier+12, then you sell them a single item worth 1000 or less for twice the regular price. If this feature fails, you may not use this feature on the same target ever again so long as s/he can recognize you. Appraiser Prereq: 12 WIS or 12 INT At-Will Target: Items You may determine the worth of items you find. Roll 1d20 and add your INT or WIS modifier. On a 12 or more, you know a ballpark figure (within +/-50%). On a 20 or more, you know the exact value. You may only use this on any individual item once. I really hope some other people start posting in this thread. I feel like I'm the only one here, though that may be because I've been here constantly today... Don't worry, the forum is slow. Poké-Fighter Prereque: Martial Artist, won five battles while possessing a Pokémon Static When you make a melee attack while possessing a Pokémon, apply any damage bonuses you receive from Martial Artist. |

Thanks for the support I am looking now how to integrate some of these ideas into the list I have made. Just so you know I am at about 40+ in general features. Again this is going to be used with homebrew trainers rules which will differ from the current format. All of which will be posted and explained when I have finished the conversions. A lots of great Ideas thanks again!! |

After some thought, I decided to add CON as a usable stat to Bug Maniac and Fisherman, since it seems like the sort of thing a Bug/Water Ace would take. |

Here are some examples of Features I have converted for my HB based on your feed back. The Tier represents the power of the Features in my HB format buying features will require a # of feat points based on Tier. One point per tier 1-3 points. This replaces the need for a stat prerequisite allowing more trainers access to general Features Remedial Aid (General Feature) Prerequisites: Tier 1 Battle – For every 10 levels the trainer may use this feature another time per Battle Target: Pokémon Effect: The trainer may suppress the effects of a non combat stage status effect on a Pokémon for 1d4 rounds. This may not be used on the same Pokémon more than once per battle Quick Aid (General Feature) Prerequisites: Tier 2, Remedial Aid Daily – For every 15 levels the trainer may use this feature another time per day Target: Pokémon Effect: The trainer may, by sacrificing their trainer turn this round, as an interrupt stop the effects of a non-combat stage status effect from taking hold on a Pokémon. This may not be used on the same Pokémon more than once per battle. Combat Aid (General Feature) Prerequisites: Tier 3, Quick Aid Daily Target: Pokemon Effect: The trainer may end the effects of a non-combat stage status effect on a pokemon. This may not be used on the same pokemon more than once per battle You’re just my Type! (General Feature) Prerequisites: Tier 1 Target: Pokemon Effect: The trainer chooses one pokemon type upon taking this feature. Any capture attempts against that type receives a bonus to capture rolls equal to the trainer’s cognitive stat. However, any capture attempts made when not targeting that type receives a penalty to capture rolls equal to the trainers class cognitive stat. All bonuses to capture derived from features or pokeballs still apply as normal. Edited by Malikjack, Jul 27 2012, 12:01 PM.

"Cognitive stat?" It seems rather clear what it is (INT, WIS and CHA), but doesn't that disadvantage Type Aces, who focus on CON and STR, who want to take "You're Just My Type"? |

In my Homebrew rules I am doing a complete trainer overhaul. This includes replacing the current stat system, level cap, how classes are laid out, how features are obtained and much more. Cognitive is a stat category that all trainers will have a stat selected from. Just My Type! Will benefit all trainers under this system. When I am finished I will post the whole revamp.
