Alright, I've been kinda disapointed since they've gotten rid of the Investor class. I though that it really helped players who were greedy for money.

Anyways to get to the point, I thought it would be neat to start working on a Base class that could branch off into more inventive classes, such as CEO, Inventor, yadda yadda yadda. Basically the initial class would be busniess man, getting discounts and bargains for items using his suave skills, and doing the same thing to sell certain item for more, though of course it could be a use once daily skill that doubles the money you get from an item.

A note on inventor, people have told me it kinda reminds them of the Artificer, but I was talking about more wacky contraptions you could patent, and get a weekly income, or tweak something to give a very strange effect, such as a wrist band that gives you a mint every times you open a pokevall stuff like that.

I'm not so good with details so I offer you a challenge to flesh out my dream.

This has been Semper...
Peace Out!

[edit]Forgot another couple of points.
I understand classes need to have an influence on pokemon (Or at least I feel they should.) so I'm adding maybe you can auction off pokemon, though I believe something already has that.
I think giving pokemon the ability to become pack mules...Though I think that exists too....Hmmmm..
Oh maybe training like the detective has giving them a better ability to talk your group out of situations. Some thing I don't help is truly appreciated.

Next thing I'd like to add is that the class is based off of intelligence and charisma, so if that helps...well there you go.

Alright, I s'pose that's all I may add another edit, or explain more if anyone has questions. [/edit]

Interesting.
And, yes, pokemon have a power stat, so as long as they can carry the weight and you're fine with having them out, you can already use them as pack mules.
Just try not to get your Onix in my Pokemon Center.
Maybe the businessman could increase the power stat by +1 for the purposes of transporting goods (not people), as a feat or an AC bonus?

Businessman, huh? That sounds more like an Advanced Class kind of name. A Base Class should be called Merchant or Peddler. That being said, I'll do this. My main concern is that it doesn't much fit a Pokemon Trainer. Still, I never let something like logic stop me.

Some of the only reasons that I thought this kind of class would have been a good idea is because it gives you a whole new way to play the game, say while the group goes out to catch some mareep, you decide to harvest some of their wool to sell or make into a new contraption of sorts, say slippers that charge your Pokedex (or gear) while you use them.

I think it allows people to use the skills charisma and intelligence as very good social skills because not everybody loves battling or contests. I could come up with many more examples, but I wanna leave that to peoples imaginations. How many times has Team Rocket used their marketing skills to get ahead.

Hopefully there will be more advanced classes people can think of to use for this because I know there are a lot of possibilities for classes based off this if you really think about it. One of my problems was incorporating it for use for trainers, and or contest lovers. Maybe be able to make higher wagers with an opponent. Or get higher contest winnings. Somehow I bet a lawyer could even fit in somehow.

A lot of classes can be used for certain campaigns, I take for example, the detective, as well as the cook, and the groomer. I believe somehow this class can prove to be useful and fun without being overpowered.

Okay, this is what I have so far. I need two or three more features for the base class, then start making Advanced Classes.

One note: Due to the Peddling feature, I reduced the power of the Member's Discount feature from the Investor's old feature. Combined with Peddling, it is essentially free money.

MERCHANT

KEy stats: INT and CHA
-2 DEX

Base Features: Saddlebags and Peddling

Saddlebags (Extended, Legal)
At Will
Pay 600. Create the held item Saddlebags. Saddlebags increases the Power of the
Pokemon wearing them by 1 for the purposes of carrying cargo or freight.

Peddling (Extended, Legal)
Daily
Target: Populated area
Over the course of an hour in any town or city, roll 1d20 and add your CHA and INT
Modifier. If you roll above 15, sell one item for it's listed price. For every 2
points you exceed 15, you may sell an additional item for it's listed price. For
the purposes of this feature, treat items crafted by a Feature to have a listed price
of double the cost to make them. The GM may determine when a market is flooded with
a particular good and you will be unable to sell it for the full price or at all.

Features:

Spoiler: click to toggle

Wow Darchias, I am very impressed, this is very usable for any campaign I would design. I'm a little intimidated to come up with any features for fear of being overshadowed by the ones you've already made. Give me a little bit I'll think of something.

The main problem with the class is that the sheer cash-flow is hard to balance. It can be incredibly over-powered or essentially useless depending on the campaign and the availability of goods.

And thanks! Not bad for something I threw together in half an hour huh?

As for Advanced Classes, I was thinking...

Inventor: INT based, it is a little Artificer, a little Engineer, a little Scientist, and involves a feature on patenting a new item.
Auctioneer: CHA based, it centers around acquiring and selling priceless and very rare items. And eggs.
Entrepreneur: Involves setting up a business of some sort, has features for reliable income. I'm a little iffy on it, since I would like to tie each class into Pokemon Training or Coordinating somehow.
Gentleman/Lady: Involves Pokemon Battling more directly by increasing your Pokemon's limit of Vitamins, allowing a second Held Item, tutoring moves like Fling, Trick, and Natural Gift, giving the Frisk and Harvest abilities, stuff like that.
Dealer: The 'morally questionable' advanced class, it involves persuading people with cold hard cash. Badge and Medal buying, bribing judges, acquiring and selling less then legal items, even forcing other people to use their features for your benefit.

Need one or two more, but that's my ideas for now. Any others?

Something based on Trader, the former Breeder class. It fits into this scheme. Trading and bartering with pokemon, maybe some features involving the sale of pokemon or purchasing of pokemon.

I want to use this now, esspecially if you get those ACs up. I esspecially like the idea of Gentleman/Lady. It'd be a very useful class for almost any trainer. It'd need to have a few CC options though because I know a few classes that could use it.

As for other classes, hm, I can see a class based on making pokemon better for various purposes and giving them some useful upgrades like doubling the benefits of vitimans other than rare candies and PP Ups, improving on pokeballs and potions, that sort of thing. Seems like it could be interesting. I think i'll see about playtesting this after it gets a bit more of a review.

I don't really have any plans to expand this class to be honest. I was bored and threw it out there because he asked for it. If any of you guys want to finish it for me feel free.

I should mention that a common theme for the Advanced Classes is using money for features. The base class is used for acquiring a truly ludicrous amount of cash, so all the Advanced Class features should involve steep costs, with at least one moneymaking feature within the Advanced Class. As such, the Gentleman/Lady should be able to USE more Vitamins on their Pokemon instead of doubling the effectiveness of them. Think increasing effectiveness while NOT reducing cost.
