I'm not sure if there was a class like this I'd know where to put it. The idea of a Burst class is that you and you're pokemon use a technique called burst to turn into a sort of Pokemon Human Hybrid. You need an item called a burst heart, I'll post the mechanics I got from Bulbapedia.

Mechanics, Provided by : http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Burst
In order for one to perform Burst, they will need a special item known as a Burst Heart (Japanese: BURST ハート BURST Heart, often shortened to B Heart). The Burst Heart is a small, pocket sized jewel that actually holds a Pokémon inside of it, sealed so that its power can be used by anyone wishing to fuse with it. The Burst Heart can be compared to a Poké Ball in that it holds a Pokémon inside, but is also different due to the fact that it doesn't store a Pokémon to be released for later use. If a Burst Heart is broken, the Pokémon inside will be freed.
Once Burst is activated, the user will have their physical traits increased greatly. Whatever abilities the user will get depends on the type of Pokémon used to combine; for example, a Ground-type Pokémon will make the user immune to Electric attacks.
It is shown that a person can actually be sent inside of their Burst Heart in order to better connect with the Pokémon inside. In Ryouga's Burst Heart, an entire field can be seen inside and a large area where his Zekrom is being held. Once he arrives to this spot, a key takes the form of a young gatekeeper boy to test him and see if he's worthy enough of seeing Zekrom. Once Ryouga passes the test, the boy turns back into his true form—a key— and allows him to see Zekrom.
It is later revealed that a Burst Heart—like the Pokémon they contain—can become stronger as they get involved in more battles. This allows the Burst itself to become stronger at the same time as the Burst Warrior.

Just thought about bringing it up for discussion in case any one thought it was a good idea for the tabletop.

Also if this has been discussed before, I couldn't find it so I'm sorry.

How would you deal with the different mechanics behind Pokemon stats and Trainer stats? They aren't exactly compatible, and the devs banned Mystics taking on Transform to turn into other Pokemon because of the confusion it would cause. I mean, you could compare Strength to Attack, Dexterity to Speed, Constitution to Defense or Special Defense or HP, Wisdom or Intelligence to Special Attack, the other to Special Defense, but then you'd be left with the notorious Charisma stat. This would be a stretch, but you could connect Charisma to Special Attack or Special Defense.

This would definitely be an Advanced Class for Mystics.

Also, something likes probably belongs in the Homebrew section, where we discuss made-up classes and PTA tools.

Oops, I was just curious about the idea, I don't really know how I'd make it into a class. Is there a way to move a topic, or will I have to delete this and paste it to the home brew section.

Mostly I was wondering if anyone had any idea on how to turn this into a class of sorts.

If the mods want, they can move it, but it's not a big deal :)

Here's a start to the Burst Warrior class. Let me know what you think, and if it does the manga justice.

-Burst Warrior (Advanced Class)
-Requirements: Burst Feature, Mystic
-Bonus: +1 WIS
Class Features:
Burst Trained
Static.
Because of your specialized training with Burst Hearts, you do not take damage from failing your Burst roll, and you may use Burst an additional time per day.

Heart to Heart
Extended Trainer Action. At-Will?
Target: One Burst Heart with a Pokemon trapped inside of it.
Effect: You may send your consciousness into a Burst Heart to spend time with a Pokemon. Time flows at the same rate in the Burst Heart as it does outside of it. Your body is helpless while your mind is inside of the Burst Heart. The terrain inside of a Burst Heart is similar to its natural Environment. If the Pokemon is man-made (like Porygon or Mewtwo), it can look like any environment.
-Additional Features as created.

Trainer Features:
Burst
Prerequisites: Burst Heart (item) with a Pokemon trapped inside of it
Trainer Action
Target: Self, and one Pokemon trapped inside of a Burst Heart
Daily -- plus an additional use per day for every 10 levels gained afterward.
Effect: After using Burst, Roll a 1d20. If you don't roll 11 or higher, the targets lose 30 HP. If either target falls unconscious/faints because of this, the Burst fails. The targets fuse. You use the Pokemon's stats while in battle, its HP, its Types, its Capabilities, its Ability(s), and you have access to all of the Pokemon's attacks that it currently knows. The target Pokemon gains experience normally while in Burst. You retain all of your Trainer stats while in Burst. Increase your Trainer's STR stat by +X, where X is your Pokemon's STAB bonus. All items you are carrying when you use Burst are fused into your body and cannot be accessed while in Burst (a Trainer may carry items it picks up while in Burst). If a feature requires an item that is fused into the Trainer's body while in Burst, that feature cannot be used. You cannot be fused to more than one Pokemon at a time. If your HP falls below 0 while in Burst, Burst ends immediately, and you and your items return to normal. When Burst ends, the targets retain the current HP they had when Burst ended, and your Trainer's maximum HP returns to normal. If your current HP exceeds your maximum HP because of this, your current HP becomes your maximum HP. If a Trainer's HP or Pokemon's HP is at -100% when Burst ends, make the appropriate Death Saving Roll. Ending Burst early requires a Trainer Action.

Burst Heart (item)
Cost: Normally unavailable for sale. A GM would need to decide on the cost, if it's even available in shops.
Description: A Burst Heart is a baseball-sized crystal that stores a Pokemon much like a Pokeball. Unlike a Pokeball, however, a Pokemon is not released from the crystal until it breaks. A Burst Heart is required to use the Burst Feature, fusing the Pokemon it stores with its Trainer, creating a Pokemon-Human hybrid. A Pokemon in a Burst Heart cannot be healed by normal means. It heals all of its HP after 6 hours of rest, or 1/6 of its HP per hour. If a Pokemon dies inside of a Burst Heart, the Burst Heart shatters, the Pokemon is released, and is dead. A Trainer may Channel a Pokemon inside of a Burst Heart.

EDIT 1: Updated text and wording.
EDIT 2: Added the Type mechanic to the Burst Feature.
EDIT 3: Changed the stat bonuses Burst gives to only granting a bonus to the trainer's STR, where X is the Pokemon's STAB bonus. Also added the Burst Heart item description.
EDIT 4: Updated Burst Heart (item). EDIT 4b: Took out the Burst Heart counting toward the 6 Pokemon max.
EDIT 5: Updated Burst and Burst Heart. The Trainer adopts the Pokemon's HP.

Hmm... well, here are my thoughts and ideas.

Well, what you could do is something like what Werewolves and Changing Breeds have in World of Darkness: Set out a special stat sheet for your Burst form. Since the Pokemon inside the Burst Heart cannot be released without destroying the Burst Heart, you can use the Pokemon Stat Sheet.

The hard part is going to be crossing over the human stats to Pokemon stats. What we could do is say that the Pokemon Stats and capabilities temporarily override the human ones during the Burst. However, the Player's health is directly proportionate to the Pokemon's in that if changing back from Burst form would result in the player having to roll death saving throws, they are stuck in the form until they are healed. If they take damage while in Burst form, the damage remains on both Pokemon and trainer until it is healed. Additionally, if the Player is knocked unconscious while in Burst Mode, they roll a saving throw based on the level of the Pokemon inside the Burst Heart. If they fail the roll, the Burst Heart shatters, releasing the Pokemon that was inside.

When a Burst Pokemon takes damage, that damage can't be healed with items inside the Burst Heart, since Potions and Berries cannot reach through. To compensate, the Burst Heart regenerates a small amount of HP over time. If the damaged Pokemon has not fully recovered by the time you enter burst mode again, your health is not maxed out. The Burst Heart cannot provide the energy to heal while Burst Mode is active, and as such, does not have active health regen.

For additional feats and skills, players could purchase feats that would increase their stats and health regeneration, as well as other abilities.

EDIT: Straw, you're awesome.

I like the idea of sacrificing health to Burst, but unless the Pokemon is considered to take damage too, there's no sense of that bond between Pokemon and Train- erm, Burst Warrior. I would suggest switching Heart-to-heart with Burst as well, since Heart-To-Heart is technically a more advanced technique, and when the class relies entirely on the ability to burst, it should have that skill right off the bat.

Let's additionally add a rule that the player may only possess one Burst Heart at a time to prevent players from having tons of different burst hearts. The advantage of this class is the ability to make the player super powerful in one go, but the weakness is that you can only have one burst form, which is susceptible to having elemental weaknesses.

This is getting to the point that we should probably move this to the Homebrew Section.

Thanks :D

Having the Pokemon take damage is a good idea.

The Burst Warrior class is a trained Burst-user. Anyone with a Burst Heart can technically perform Burst, implied in the Wiki, but it could deal the user a lot of harm, hence paying the HP (which was edited to become a chance effect). Becoming a Burst Warrior signifies masterful control over the Burst Heart and Burst.

Also, you can't limit players to just one Burst Heart. The manga's main character has a container that can store up to 6, but they're really rare and difficult to find without having another Burst Heart. And the Elemental weakness brings up something I forgot to add in my idea. Should the Trainer take on Primary and Secondary Types of the fused Pokemon, or just the Primary Type and the Secondary Type will automatically be Normal because the Pokemon is half-human? Edited!

For the record, I'm pretty sure trainers are typeless, not normal. They can be hit by ghost moves, and do not take double damage from fighting moves, unless this has changed recently.

I see what you're going for. I was confused for just a second because I didn't notice you list it as a trainer feature rather than a Class Feature. Additionally, let's add 30 damage to the Pokemon involved when Burst fails, since this is a fusion technique failing.

Does he? I never got past Chapter 6 (I can't find the darn things), so anything past the fight with Hilgreitz is out of my knowledge pool until I find more. All the same, I think they should count as members of your 6 Pokemon Party at the very least.

Take on the types. Remember the Hilgreitz fight? He was immune to electric attacks because his Burst form was a Ground Type. The Burst Warrior gains ALL attributes of the Pokemon, positive and negative.

Compass of Light

This is the Compass of Light, which is designed to hold 6 Burst Hearts. While the Burst Hearts are in it, they shine a light in the direction of nearby Burst Hearts. More Burst Hearts equal more lights. When all 6 are in, it's supposed to lead the Ryouga to Arcades.

I actually haven't read the manga. I'm working straight from Bulbapedia's entry on Bursts. As far as the Bulbapedia entry regarding Burst cost goes, it seems to only hurt the user of the Burst, not the Pokemon. Also, I would hate to try to fuse with my level 5 Bulbasaur to become BulbaMan! but in the process kill my Bulbasaur if I roll anything less than 11. I would like Pokemon to take damage in battle like the Trainer, but there's the huge difference in Trainer and Pokemon HP at low levels. Then there's the problem of healing Pokemon inside without breaking the crystal.

I have to say that I didn't expect many replies at all. What I'm reading is pretty awesome, and you straw, are pretty flippin amazing. I agree with all the features you set up. For the campaign I'm running with my friends I thought it'd be cool to introduce a Burst Warrior class. Kinda kick up the Pokemon bonding experience. Though I see the benefit to limiting the amount of burst hearts you can have.

I wonder how you'd find a burst heart, maybe buy one?

I also didn't know anyone else read that manga.
