Actually, I think I'll reuse an old character:
(Ignore the weird symbols, its a copy-paste error)

Rick Rillion grew up in a small town with very few people. The lack of other kids his age as well as his unnatural height made him a sort of outcast among the other kids and Rick had few human friends. Rick never spent time with those friends though, preferring to spend his time walking in the wilds befriending Pokemon.
When Rick was 13 a Ranger came into town. Seeing the respect that the figure commanded as well as how easily he was able to befriend Pokemon Rick decided to make becoming a Ranger his goal in life. Rick went to the shop, bought himself a knife and went into the woods to practice survival. For the first three nights Rick was fine and managed to build a small tent and forage for berries enough to survive. The night though, a wild Poochyena attacked him. The Poochyena was small, but would not stop the fight and Rick was forced to kill it with his small camp night. The horror of what he had done set in a few minutes after the fight, and Rick cried tears of shame. During the struggle Rick had been bit on his thigh and was barely able to create a makeshift bandage to stop the bleeding. Determined to last the rest of the week, Rick grit his teeth and pushed onward, hoping to make it four more days.
That night the howling started.  Outside Rick’s tent shadowy wolf-like shapes began to move. Rick sat huddle in the back of the tent, desperately clutching his small knife. Then a small wolf-like nose pushed its way into the tent, sniffing.  Suddenly a full-grown Mightyena dove into the tent and began attacking Rick. Rick yelled and kicked and was barely able to keep the deadly fangs from his throat. Suddenly the Mightyena was off him.  Rick saw the Ranger on the back of a Rapidash, bow drawn, staring down the Mightyena.  The Mightyena leapt at the Ranger, but the Rapidash kicked it aside easily and sent the wild beast running. Rick began to fade in and out of consciousness at this phase  Through many jumbled images he saw the Ranger picking him up, racing at breakneck speeds through the woods, being carried into the PokeCenter, and a nurse taking care of him.
It took nearly a month for Rick to be nursed back to health. That whole time the Ranger sat by Rick’s bedside and taught him the art of the Ranger. After Rick was healthy the Ranger was forced to leave because of his duty, but before the Ranger left he gave Rick a Pokeball. As he gave it to him he said, “Treat this little guy well. Maybe in a few years you can come to the Ranger’s and try to get in. Remember what I told you and you have as good a shot as any to get into our ranks.”
The Pokeball happened to contain a Growlithe, which Rick promptly named Burnard. For the next three years of his life Rick trained with Burnard as a Ranger on their own and finally, when Rick was 16, he took the exam to become a Ranger and passed with flying colors. Rick has been patrolling the wilds ever since, looking for the noble Ranger who saved his life and taught him so much.

Hey, I was going to be a Richard!

Although, you were first. I concede, unless you don't have a problem with name confusion.

That'd be hilarious. The comedy duo Rick and Dick.

Now I'm torn between that detective and doing a martial artist. Rarely a lot of fun to have two people with the same class in my experience.

So either Frank the Detective or Penelope the Juggler...

I'd join if it's PbP. Just wondering, though, how do you feel about this class? It was just created today, so it might need a little tinkering, but otherwise...

So here's what I have, backstory-wise.

For whatever reason, obscurity ran in Richard's family. On occasion, something extraordinary would have happened to one of them, but they'd be gone, and without a trace. He thought nothing about these incidents, and dismissed them as tall tales. The general populace could never seem to remember anything of the sort happening anyway. But one day, he got a call saying that League officials in Kanto had attempted to contact his cousin, Rin, and she was nowhere to be found. Only a Bulbasaur - presumably hers - had been found, and it didn't respond to the name it had been given. Richard was forced to retrain it from scratch and give it a new name: Onioknight.

A few months passed, and there was still no sign of her. The mystery eventually became too much for Richard to bear, and he prepared to set out to solve it, and end the pattern of obscurity that pervades the Satsuki* family...

While contemplating the facts at a nearby lake on one particular day, a Carvanha jumped out and attacked him. He was forced to defend himself, suffering a nasty Bite to the right arm, which is still bound, although it still functions normally. Only through sheer fortitude and luck was he able to capture it; he gave it the name Calvaria.

Knowing that Rin had aspired to be a top Coordinator, he decided to honor her dream. It couldn't be that hard... right? He was already well-respected and well-liked among those he knew, and had a certain reputation for being hard to take out (which was well-deserved, and wasn't afraid to show it.)

Recently, though, this question has taken to his mind: "Is it possible to lose yourself by living for someone else?"

*Obscure reference ahoy!

^PFFFFFFFFFFF that is best class. You, sir, have made my day.

Coy was a weird trainer from the get go. From day one, when his father hatched his Snivy, he took that Pokemon and trained him... and lost. Repeatedly. Even his father, who was dwarfed in badge count by his older brother, a swordman who only had one Pokemon, had felt like the boy couldn't win a single Pokemon battle to save his life. So, Coy's dad called his brother, who taught Coy the basics of martial arts. Coy, however, had grown a deep bond with the Snivy... so, while no one was looking, he practiced his weapon skills using Clay as his weapon instead of a conventional one. As soon as Coy learned the basics, his uncle gave him an Abra he wasn't using and set him off into the world.

While the Abra was a good weapon in some cases, he used his Snivy more often. Soon, he was enlisted to help out the group by his uncle, who had never really turned around from Coy. Coy wishes to overtake his uncle and get at least three badges from the gym, in order to prove to his uncle that he was better. He also wishes for Clay to be the best he can be.

And here's my backstory.
