Come one and all to the Tournament known as "The Prime Cup" Here Pokemon at the peek of their abilities are tested against each other in a Round Robin format of 3 x 3 battles to prove their rightful place in the hall of fame

Basics for applicants, Also any answered Questions will have their answer put here so that they are easier to find then searching the entire thread.

Medics are on standby for Pokemon and Death rolls though taking a Pokemon out of a fight are not the be all and end all of that Pokemon (Electrodes blow up, that's just a fact of life).

Now on to the tournaments themselves

Each Tournament will have two Brackets, each bracket set will be made up of six trainers each. Each trainer, win or lose, will continue on to fight until they have faced all other trainers in their bracket. After which the two highest win vs loss percentage trainers of each bracket will go on to a final round against each other to see which of them is the champion. the fights in Championship matches will run the same as a normal match except full teams will be used as opposed to limiting the choices for the final battle.

In the end there will be one clear Champion from each group of the single and tag matches and depending on how this goes I may make a second season where the champs can defend their titles against a new batch of challengers (or returning rivals)

EDIT(S): Forgot to add this tourney will be held over IRC chat,, the room and days of the tourney have yet to be decided. the total amount of available spaces if anyone cares to do the math is 24 people (12 Singles 12 Tag). with this in mind I don't expect everyone to be on IRC chat at the same time really the only people who need to be on will be those facing each other in the tournament.

*Any leftover Starting money won't really be used again, this money is not cumulative with the 20000 provided to any crafting professions and cannot be used for crafting. If you take two crafting classes then you get 2 seperate 20K amounts, however each class may only use one of the 20K amounts for crafting, not both.

Hm. this... could be interesting. Have you stopped by the official PTA IRC channel? "High level" play is one of those curiousities we've always discussed over there and honestly you could get a lot of interested applicants there.

Four Five questions though:

1. Less of a question and more of just a mild bit of surprise - just TL 15? In a way it makes sense since a lot of features will become useless, I'm just a little curious why you settled there.
2. Move limits. Do you use the 7 Natural / 7 Outside Source limit, and if so, where do the Egg Moves fall?
3. Will we be able to benefit from not-immediate boosts in combat? By this I mean, say, if we're a Breeder with Natural Edge, will we get benefits? If we're a Chef or Scientest, will we get limited supplies of vitamins to distribute if we take the respective feats? Etc. etc., and so on and so forth.
4. How do you prefer to accept applications?
5. Do you require entrants for the Tag Battle tournament to have Dual-Wielding or not?

Aha! Tres interesant. Consider me interested. I think you're going to find a lot of the PTA Devs from the IRC might like in on this :3

- I'm Paradox on the suptg IRC, for reference.

Also, yeah, even if a lot of feats may become largely irrelevant, isn't Trainer Level 15 kind of low? If you raise the trainer level to say 25, it might allow for some more variety in trainers.

I'm fairly sure this will be a negative, but will items be allowed? Such as potions, status curing items, and vitamins?

Thanks for the interest and questions I shall try to answer them all right now.

1. TL 15?: I was actually kinda trying to figure out a good level to use, and was sitting somewhere between 15 or 20, 25 sounds good though as Doxy suggested so I shall make the appropriate edits to the first post.

2. 7/7 moves: Yes I do use the move limits, Egg and TM both use outside source limit so you would still be able to have 7 Natural moves and the 5 (3 TM and 2 Egg) outside moves for the pokemon.

3.Breeders and Scientists For Natural Edge and The Vitamins from Scientists. Natural Edge can be applied to 4 of your Pokemon for Breeders, while Scientists can start with a pool of about 20000 in poke (poke what I've come to think the money is called in Pokemon) to afford ingredients for their crafting features.

4.Application submission You can either submit them here on the thread or through PMs. PMs might do better to avoid any teams looking like they are going to be built to counteract another players strategy.

5.Dual Wielding Re-reading Dual Wielding, I would say it's not necessary but then I would wonder who wouldn't get it for the tag tournament. In this instance I think I can allow Dual Wielding as a free feature for all involved with the Tag Tournament whether you meet the preqs or not, that way it does not take up a feature slot and players can build without worrying about getting it

On the subject of PTA IRC, I do go on #suptg and #tragicrolls from time to time but I haven't asked anyone on IRC yet. I kinda only thought of this yesterday during game time for the group I'm part of, but I'd be happy to see what you guys over there think about the romp and stomp action of what could be called "super high level" Pokemon.

@MrCompetition: no Potions or status curing (save berries) but I have added a amount of starting money to the first post to allow the purchase of vitamins or additional TMs/Held Items

Definitely count me in on this, it sounds quite interesting. I am curious though how Move Tutors, Photographers, etc will work concerning whether or not you'll allow extra TM/Tutor moves for trainers with those classes.

First post has been edited to include Move Tutors and a limit on triggered features for classes such as Element unlocking and type changing. The first post will most likely undergo a few more edits as questions are answered so that any visiting the thread do not have to search for answers to Q's they might themselves have.

Another question, sorry. How will you handle Give it Your All! and Step Aside! if allowed at all?

With those two features given the level of the trainers I think they are fine to include as choices however they are only one use per 3 battles as opposed to one use and that's it. I don't know if it's stated or not in the book *checks* no it's not but for the purposes of this fight "Give it Your all" cannot be applied to OHKO moves such as Horn Drill and Guillotine. Also "Step Aside" cannot dodge things with no accuracy check such as Swift and Shadow Punch.
