Hey Everybody! I've decided to run a campaign to fully explore the region of Kanto and get to grips with the system as a GM. As such, I'm looking for up to 4 players to take part in a full-length campaign that'll follow the heroes' story from the bottom of Pallet town all the way to the top of victory road. With that in mind - the pitch! People from all over the world flock to the Indigo Plateau every year to take part in the Indigo Plateau Conference Championships! For a whole month, the mountaintop town commits itself entirely to the pursuit of champions - individuals that have a true bond with their pokemon and mastery of battling, contests, and more. Kanto houses the event with pride, knowing that as long as people have pokemon, they will strive to better not only themselves, but the strength of their companions. Those who would seek to test themselves and enter the preliminary stages of the Battle Conference must prove their worth by visiting all the gyms in Kanto, besting their leaders, and acquiring the eight gym badges necessary to qualify for the event. Trainers with the desire to show their pokemon's qualities beyond just strength must acquire five winning contest ribbons in different contest types from various venues around the region. Registration can be completed either with either Professor Oak in Pallet Town, or any sanctioned Pokemon Gym throughout Kanto. Let your fire burn brightly, and stand as an example for all to aspire to! So! As you can see, the campaign will follow the primary story arc of the traditional Pokemon Master Quest. The trainers travel to the eight gyms, earn the badges, then compete for the prize. I'm also going to make the the competition a little less two-dimensional by allowing the Indigo Plateau conference to feature more than just battling competitions. However, I'm a big fan of throwing in some other interesting storylines and sub-plots to mix up the formula, and character-specific plot is always an involving and insightful experience. In this instance, I'm going to introduce an element of strategy and decision-making - the Conference Countdown! The team of players will have 365 days to successfully travel around Kanto, acquire their badges and/or ribbons, and arrive at the Indigo Plateau. Various hazards and obstacles will need to be overcome as they present themselves, and decisions to evade or solve these problems will be met with repercussions down the line, both good and bad. I should also stress ahead of time there's no 'Let's just skip it and wait for next year's conference' - because the badges and ribbons will be dated to each annual conference. Make the effort, or begin the gym/contest badge journey all over again next year! Right - onto character creation. Starting Level: Players will be starting at level 0. Level progression will be carefully controlled and monitored by myself, personally. I intend to rule out the pokedex levelling system in favour of granting levels when I deem it appropriate. Starter Pokemon: I'm willing to grant you any 1 starter you wish, excluding legendaries. Origins of this starter pokemon are entirely up to you - collect it from Oak, have received it previously elsewhere, saved it from a forest fire, the choices are yours. This includes pokemon from other regions. These pokemon will begin play at level 5. Starting Funds: 500 Pokédollars. Background: I'm always a stickler for these. I love character development, I love personal story, and I love the opportunity to have player-character-related incidents occur. Please provide me one of these - doesn't need to be massive, perhaps half a page or so, try to include another character affiliated with your own (Not another player character, please! I don't mind players having characters involved with one another in the past, but I'd like another character involved). Right! Any questions, post them here. Please provide character sheets with the above application, if you'd be so kind. Looking forward to it already! - Parra EDIT: RECRUITING FOR THIS GAME IS NOW CLOSED. PLAYERS HAVE BEEN SELECTED AND THE GAME IS DUE TO START SOON. APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED. SORRY! Edited by Parrallathan, Aug 13 2011, 01:14 AM.

I knew I was going to forget *something.* I'm open to player preference on how the game will be ran. Please include preferred playing method with your application (The options being IRC or PbP - sorry guys, not a fan of maptools without proper opportunity to prep). |

I'd like to play, whatever format for playing is fine. for starters though, I assume you'll want us to pick a Kanto native? |

Are you going to be facing individual wilds, in the style of the games, or packs/herds/families? Because, for the latter, it really helps to have starters at level 10. Also, what times would this be running? Definitely interested. |

You can take a pokemon from any region on the proviso that your backstory accommodates as such. For example, clearly don't pick an Unova native if your backstory doesn't say you'd been there/traded someone etc etc.
PM is fine, as long as I can access it somewhere! Thanks.
Thanks for expressing interest!
I was intending on doing single/pairs encounters for the first few sets just to 'warm up', then once people have pokemon a little more hardy (as you say, level 10 being an example), then families/swarms and such will be introduced. Regarding what times the game would be run - it'd be decided between the players, ideally. I'm pretty flexible at the moment, so once we've decided who's in and what method we're going to game on, we can discuss the time. Alternatively, if people want to post the times they're typically available with their application, that would be handy! |

I'll say now: I'm in GMT, so i'll likely be cut off by 2am (EST 10pm?).. Other than that, i'm free pretty much round the clock. If the others are fine with that, then i'll be very pleased to be in. |

I would love to play and have done PBP before so it's no problems. I'll try to have a character up quickly, since er're level 0 I'm guessing we have no class at the moment then and are just trainers. |
