Seems fun. It'll be hard for me to find the time at the moment, but past mid-May, I should be able to squeeze into a session or two. |

I'm in. The idea of a game with flexible scheduling like this is awesome. I have a character I made a while back, just have to tweek it a bit to fit your specific requirements. I was wondering if it'd be okay to try out the redone Mystic base class I posted a while back here (I swear, I'll finish the rest of the classes someday...). I want to cross-class to Hex Maniac, but I can't have 4 ghost Pokemon to start. Any way I can work around that? My character concept also requires at least one grass type, so it would actually only be two ghost types to start. I understand if that's asking a bit much, and I'm fine with just going psychic --> hex maniac in that case. Do you have any more info on this region to help with writing a character background? I'm mostly concerned with things like how common it is for trainers to have mystical or psychic abilities, the legality of using said abilities, etc. Maybe I'll just talk to you before or after Egondra this week since I'm sure I'll come up with more specific questions by then. |

Darchias, Kriss: IRC isn't all that hard to work with. If you need a webclient, use Mibbit. You'll have to enter the server address personally but it should work. castfromhp: You might be starting with three mons but that doesn't mean you can't have owned others in the past. I'm very flexible when it comes to your initial class spread during character creation. As far as supernatural abilities, they are not very common but aren't really looked on as too dangerous - although many people who don't posess them probably find them a little off-putting or downright creepy. Generally, your trainer ID says if you posess any unnatural capabilities so you're likely being casually monitored by law enforcement, and might be asked to come in for a Clairsentient scanning if something goes wrong in the area related to your abilities. However, so long as you don't actually use it to do anything illegal, you should be fine. Posessing other people's Pokemon without permission - or controlling others directly - is considered strictly illegal, it's worth noting. As for the rewritten Mystic... I'll give it a look over. Alright, I've been thinking a bit over dinner, and I've come up with a few more questions. When a Wanderer receives a call, do they usually answer it, or it is a system where a call goes out to many different Wanderers and the organization expects only a few of them to answer the call? Essentially my concern is that if a Wanderer is supposed to answer each and every call they receive, aren't there scenarios when a Wanderer is chosen for a task that they aren't capable of handling? Maybe the organization isn't aware that they've been incapacitated or their Pokemon weakened. Can a Wanderer pass their task to someone else? Does the organization choose Wanderers to handle specific tasks based on their abilities? This is all a bit relevant to how I want to write my character's interaction with the Wanderers. Do Wanderers typically work in groups or partnerships? (If this turns out to be the case, I'd love if we could get a session together for some people who want to integrate each others' characters in their respective backgrounds.) Another question is how legendary Pokemon are treated in the setting. Is it generally accepted that there is only one of each legendary, or is it like the TV show where there are multiple Articuno or multiple Darkrai for example? How commonly are legendaries sighted, and are they ever caught by a trainer? Are gym badges the only official reference for a trainer's overall ability to handle Pokemon? Is there any other sort of ranking system so a trainer can be recognized as competent without having any gym badges? I ask because there are cases where GMs create worlds where trainers cannot lawfully own certain destructive Pokemon like Gyarados without a certain number of badges demonstrating their competence. I don't plan for my character to ever participate in Pokemon League competitions, so I'm wondering if I should plan my Pokemon selections accordingly. And finally (sorry for so many questions - don't worry more will come later :P) is that a yes on homebrew redone Mystic? |

When a Wanderer recieves the call, they are expected to answer it. Failure to answer the call results in suspension of benefits until a call is answered. You aren't always expected to succeed - only that you follow instructions to the best of your ability. And you have to do it - passing on the burden to someone else does not work to fool the system (Many Wanderers who've been one for a few years have tried it at some point). Most unusually though, the system never seems to contact you when you're incapable of answering. Wanderers are normal people in relatively normal lives until they're called upon, so whether or not they travel in groups with others or not is up to them. They are not recognised as a group however by the organization, and on occasion they'll get calls splitting them up, or to only one member. However, feel free to build backstory or have travelling companions in other players or what have you. Legendary Pokemon are surprisingly common in the Altho region. This doesn't mean you'll see them all over the place - but it's not a once-in-a-lifetime event to see one, either. There's still only one of each in the region. As for whether they're caught? Not as far as you know. Gym Badges are the main mark of competency as a trainer in the campaign; but being a Wanderer on orders tends to garner a lot of authority and causes people not to question you. I'm not putting some kind of limit on Pokemon that you can handle based on badges or something though - if a Pokemon's too strong for you, they'll break away and leave on their own. You might want to rethink visiting the League, largely because I do intend for the events to eventually lead to a huge Pokemon League challenge amongst all players; but I don't expect everyone to go that way all the same. S'up to you in the end; just something to consider. And you'll have to give me actual time to take a look at Mystic D: < EDIT: Rewritten Mystic is now cleared for use. Also, I'm listing classes/mons that have been confirmed in the opening post, so people can see what's being played. Edited by Garlyle, Apr 10 2011, 07:53 PM.

of course it's not. Hey guys, keep an eye from time to time on the first post. Random little questions I get asked that have to do with character creation, such as prices for unusual items and stuff or things i've had to say 'no' to will show up there. |

This sounds interesting. I've never played PTA before, but would it be alright if I applied? I was bored earlier and made a character sheet based on the specifications you made, I just need to type up the level progression. |

I don't think I'd have any serious problem with you applying. Make sure you can actually get on the IRC and stuff though. |

OK, Mibbit worked. I can now use IRC. I will be submitting a character. Quick rules question, contests, how will you be working those? And how do you use dice in IRC? |
