Alright. So over the course of a PTA session my brother came up with this great idea for a setting: One based on 1920's Prohibition era/Jazz Age America. The idea was so good that I wanted to run with it, however I'm already running 2 campaigns, a Fourm RP on Bay12, and going to college as a full time student. So I decided to wait until summer (Mid to Late May) before starting. However the idea and setting refuse to rest until then, so I've already started building the world in which the campaign will take place. The setting is already looking to be too big for one group to play in. I've decided that three groups are needed. Because I don't want to handle three groups of this as well as The Breath of Rayquaza campaign I have decided to recruiet more GMs. If you are intrested in participating post here. Tell me what Medium(s) you are most comfortable with using and what times you would be avaible to GM over the summer. Depending on intrest I may add additional factions so more groups can play. Lets make this huge! |

I am a PbP player, if you know what that is you know that it's very convenient as it's on all the time but doesn't require constant play. Play by Post enables users to play on a dedicated forum with built in dice, ooc chat, private notes, and dedicated threads and sub-forums for campaign notes and PC sheets. It also enables users to easily read back over past events to double-check things they have done or what NPCs said or see that they did indeed use that potion they thought they had two fights ago. PbP can be done in the participants free time, and not too much time needs to be spent on each post. |

I think I might just do that. Its actually a damn good idea. I do cute little forum RP's all the time, so grabbing a rulebook and upgrading to a tabletop game in that environment would not be too hard. 'specialy if I use one of them fancy dedicated websites you speak of. Thanks for the good Idea man. |

No problem, I'm actually running a game this way now. Read about it here. The archive I made is where i put the previous chapters. Chapter 2 will be ending soon, and then I'll start the thread for Chapter 3. |

Hey this is a really cool idea. Pretty interested in this. I don't think I'd be a good GM for it, but I'd love to play and help in other ways! |

Hmmm... would you be able to put together a nice world map if I were to give you a list of locations? |

I may be able to provide technical solutions such as hosting or other server duties if needed. I'm hesitant to offer GMing because I know that coming up with plot burns me out, but I'd be quite able to run anything you hand to me. Play-by-post is not my favorite method, but I'm able to be online much of the day that way. Instant messenger works pretty well too, if players don't mind more exposition-based gameplay. Otherwise I'd probably go with Gametable for running something, though I'd only be able to do that when I'm sitting at my home computer. If you're interested in getting into something more technical, I keep getting urges to set up a MUD system for this; think chatroom but with item interaction commands. Let me know what you think of all that. |

@KamikaziFreak I used to RP on several MUD's on Byond. Another idea worth considering... But if I want to go with a chatroom + Macros/Interactions/Commands and whatnot wouldn't I be better off just going whole hog and using Maptools? My plan was to gen up the factions, their NPC members, and their goals and set the players loose in a massive region. Knowing what the factions want you'd just have to improvise encounters on the fly. If you know far enough ahead that the PC's have some difficult to obtain goal, or that they have stepped on the foot of somebody important, I can whip up an encounter for you to dump on the poor bastards :p That sound doable to you? Of course if I decide to run play by post this becomes a moot point as I can run it all myself. |

They're not ALL going to be under your oversite are they? I like more freedom when I GM. |

Yeah, after looking over my commitments, I don't think I'd have time to do anything that requires a regularly scheduled block of time. If you do end up doing a play-by-post I'd bu interested as a player, though. |
