What kind of tribes are they and what sort of dialect are the names based around? Depending on the answer to the first question will change my character's back story. |

The lordly tribes basicaly live like feudal European nobility. The savage tribes can be anything the players want them to be within reason, as each one has its own distinct culture and traditions. I may be creative, but I don't feel like writing up several hundred tribes. Just make one up and I'll tell you if you are out of line. |

When you say Feudal Europe, what time period are we talking? When I first read OP post, the image in my head was late 17th - early 19th century. The second time gave a bit earlier impression, late 14th to 17th or so. I mean, there's a huge difference between 11th, 14th, 16th, and 19th century nobility. I'll admit though, my European history, especially pre- and early Renaissance, is rather lacking. As for the tribes, while they may all vary wildly, wouldn't they share some core similarities, belonging to a roughly common cultural grouping? The religion of Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza would be one of those, obviously. I assume they would roughly be European in style. I also assume that'd mean no random Oriental-themed tribe or anything like that. Edited by Ramiel, Mar 4 2011, 10:30 PM.

Its been way to long time since I've had a world history class. But off the top of my head I'll say that most of the continent is late 1400's - mid 1500's. Fearowsland is a little backwards in most non military aspects of their culture but modernizing rapidly. The savage tribes have few things in common. Fearowsland has more land under its control than any other state on the conteneint, leading to a wide variety of cultures and ethnicitys. Two things most of them share in common however is an agrarian economy and a militarized culture. The more economic tribes became lords and the more peaceful ones were whipped off the map long ago. |

Ah, this is all good information <:3 Who should I pass my character sheet onto, once I have it typed up - Kuji, Weird, or both? And finally... yeah, names - any particular theme for naming or just 'something vaguely european'? |

Ok, time period sounds perfect, right in the heart of the Age of Exploration. Gives me good grounding to begin developing character. Edit: It's nice, since I've been playing Europa Universalis III lately. Even with widely varying cultures and ethnicities, there's still got to be some common connections. Look at Europe - sure, today it's fairly homogenized, but historically it's been home to hundreds, if not thousands of widely different cultures, societies, ethnicities, and the like. But at some level, these are all related to each other, a lot closer than they are to the Orient or the Middle East or Africa or something. Sorry if I'm over-thinking this, it's your game and I mean no offense. Just trying to think everything through in real-world logic. I think part of me may be a world-builder at heart. Wildly-disparaging societies in such close proximity does fit a fantastical world, and anything with Pokemon is a wonderfully fantastical setting, after all. Edited by Ramiel, Mar 4 2011, 11:30 PM.

I'm just leaving it open so that players who want to get crazy creative can get crazy creative. I consider myself a world builder at heart as well, but I'd rather build the world around the characters given to me so as not to limit anybodies choices at the start. Don't worry, once I get a feel for where you all are coming from I'll be shoving all sorts of facts and details down your throats. And send the sheets to both of us. I'm very sorry if I'm bothering you guys. If it is alright with you guys I would like to go with my origonal character concept for supply officer, a psychic healer. If I may get an opinion on the back story I had thought of: As a child Felix's tribe was attacked by the military of Fearowland. He saw the fighting first hand and though his mother survived his father did not. The fighting continued in the surounding lands and Felix often had to help his family after the incident. He saw first hand as a teenager the death and destruction of war. It was then that he began to find he was gifted with odd and wonderful gifts. He could move things with his mind, and hear a few of the thoughts of others. As he grew and developed though so did his abilities, and after he and his mother moved to join another tribe they too were attacked. It was then that Felix found his true gift for healing. He tried to help his mortally wounded mother, but alas could not... The soldures saw his ability and took him, draging him along with them and tellin ghim to work with the medic of their group. Felix learned the arts of healing from his mentor Ky, and though it was hard for him to travel with those who'd killed his last family he hated seeing others hurt... Over the years, he became quite skilled and adept, and he began to garner respec even though he was from a concured tribe. With new recruites coming in his origins soon weren't that well known. By the time he was 24 he was well known as an excelent medic and healer. In the area of the Breath of Rayquaza he heard of the ship's grand voyage, and wanting to get away from fighting and possibly help those who might need his skills he applied for the supply officer position. As for his starter pokemon, I was wondering if you would allow him to have found an injured Eevee with the egg move Wish, or an injured Togepi with the egg move present, if those count as healing moves. Otherwise I can go with an injured Staryu. He would have found the injured pokemon when he was younger and nursed it back to health before his mother passed. It would be his one companion throughout his ordeals. If this is unacceptable I am still prepared to make a breeder pusher but his backstory I needed some assistance due to my limited understanding of the world we're in. : Felix is the son of a lordly tribesman, however... he was given away to a city family who ran a breeding farm and needed assistance. He grew up raising and breeding pokemon, even breeding spearow for the military purposes. Throughout his life he learned the ins and outs of pokemon abilities, becoming an expert in teaching certain things to pokemon to make them more powerful, as well as breeding them for strength. He was proud of his service to the fearowland military in his own minor way, but when he heard about an opening on the Breath of Rayquaza he had to go for it. he applied for the supply officer position, wanting to learn more, and spread his country's power however he could. If I had to take this I had a different requests for starters, First was Riolu, second Sneasel, and third Shinx. All of which I was planning on him having raised at the farm. I am not however, asking for bonuses to be applied to my starter. And I want to note that these are my top three choices in starters, I'm not asking for all three. Let me know what you guys think. I'm just asking for a little guidance in what would be alright. Thank you for your patience and help. |

I think it's fine that you'll be a psychic healer. Better to not use any supplies than to have to search for new ones, right? Weird's opinion takes precedent over my own, but I can say that he'll agree with your concept/background. |
