Hmm... I don't like the idea of letting a player start with a fully evolved stage 3. Kabuto would be a better choice. It is rare so it fits your characters 'born into military privilege' background. It can evolve into a Pokemon you want, and dosn't dance ballet in the mean time. It is also a water type which gives it extra utility aboard a ship. I'd also allow a Scyther, even if you don't intend to evolve it. If your fine with that the spot is yours. More flavor coming shortly. I love writing flavor

Alright, I suppose I'll make my application formal. Chaplin role. A former Feather Tribe member, son of a prominent shaman (or similar role), he ended up getting displaced from his tribe in the midst of the conflict between Fearowsland and Ashington at a young age, and then was raised by the clergy of Fearowsland as one of their own. Even raised by the church and growing into a young man though, he still had some of the childish wanderlust that made it impossible for him to function as a normal clergy member despite his excellent faith - and supernatural abilities; so they offered to send him along on the maiden voyage of the Breath of Rayquaza - both as a way of getting rid of his troublesome adventurousness and as a pious believer in the divine gods. What I'd like most for him to be able to be is Psychic/Rain Maker/Ground Shaker; the latter two in keeping with the whole Kyogre/Groudon thing going on and being far more the focus. Unfortunately, those require him to have had three pokemon with specific elements each - and obviously he's only got one at present (Which, I don't know). This could easily be explained as him simply having met the prerequisites in the past (And he no longer has those Pokemon with him - possibly because he could only take one onto the ship, for instance), it's just a matter of getting your guys' okay on that. It's fine. All you need to meet prerequisites like that is justification, and it seems like you have it. |

I totally understand, and completely agree. Just hoping there might be some way to make it work. I was pretty much prepared to start with Ralts/Kirlia anyways. Thanks for the offer on the others, but the character concept is pretty set on having (eventual) Gallade as his main guy. The idea is to form a duo, almost a partners relationship rather than a master-servant relationship, and Gallade's pretty important for that. Eh, with the right nature, you can have a Kirlia that's as far from ballet-dancing sissy as possible. (Not that I have anything against ballet in real life; that's stuff can really be quite awesome, actually) |

Or you could just start with a Ralts at level 20 and quickly do something epic. =P |

I do prefer storyline-based evolution to "You hit an arbitrary level, congrats" evolution. Also eagerly awaiting more flavorful stuff. |

Alright, here is some more flavor. Fearowsland Culture and Hierachy: The crowned tribe is a family of powerful mystics and warriors who exert their control of the land through force and manipulation. All adult members of the crowned tribe are considered equal in rank, however they often appoint one or more king to make policy decisions. The two current kings are Emanual Kyogre a diplomatic old man who keeps the tribes together and Chase Blueclaw who was appointed to investigate the possibility of starting a navy. Under the crowned tribe are the lordly tribes, who have taken initiative to build castles and estates with the blessing of the crowned. Each lordly tribe has its own laws and chain of command, but most of them are lead by a single 'Lord' or 'Lordly King'. Members of the Lordly tribes often serve as merchants or military officers. The Lordly tribes keep their numbers low by given away excessive children to the savage tribes. The savage tribes are the largest and least powerful members of Fearowsland. They are lead by a chief, shaman, or savage king. Each lordly tribe has several savage tribes serving under it as peasants and soldiers. Savage tribes vary wildly in culture and values. Some hold onto absurd practices such as arena combat, human sacrifice, cannibalism, and egalitarian gender roles. Although most of the savage tribes worship at least one member of the climate trio some supplement or replace the accepted religion of the land with the worship of shiny and/or pseudo-legendary pokemon owed by shaman or the chief. Also of note are the city dwellers who involve themselves with trade and manufacturing. The city dwellers rarely identify with a tribe. Many city dwellers are foreign in origin. Although their standard of living is generaly higher than most savage tribes city dwellers have no leaders to represent them or rights to protect them from the will of the kings and the lords. Fearowsland Military: Members of the crowned or lordly tribes are trained in the way of the blade and the mount and enter the military as officers. Members of the savage tribe entering the military are trained in the use of the axe or the mace and given a Spearow to train and fight alongside. When and if the Spearow evolves its trainer is promoted to corporal and becomes eligible. A soldier who entered the armed forces as a savage is made a private and banned from all further promotion if his Spearow/Fearow dies. Talented officers are adopted into one of the Lordly tribes and stripped of their Spearow/Fearow to protect them from this tradition. The Fearowsland military favors flanking and ambushing their foes despite the fact that they can easily defeat most known armies in a straight up battle. Rarely do the soldiers use their Spearows in battle for fear of losing them, however many soldiers use the tiny bird Pokemon as messengers or lookouts. Soldiers occasionally use other Pokemon in battle: Types that cover the weaknesses of flying are especially popular. The Fearowsland army is infamous for its utter abuse of enemy civilians. Ennemy children are handed over to the savage tribe leaders for a life of hard labor. Adults are worked into the ground as slaves and then executed. Up until the recent war against Aquastan all captured cities were looted and burned to the ground. |

Yay! Flavour! ![]() I also have an idea for a character - an easygoing quartermaster researcher/watcher who has experience with ships before and longs to explore around the world, meeting as many exotic Pokemon as possible! However, I'd like to make absolutely certain that I'll be able to play before I go much further. (Much further than what I've already come up with, anyway - that above is just a very brief summary of what I've got for them, heh...) So, I could say when I can do it, but honestly I'm really flexible. I haven't got a job, and I've only got three subjects this semester for uni. One of my lectures I can skip and watch online if it conflicts and all three of my seminars I could probably get switched around. Really, the only times I truly, honestly cannot play are: 5:30am-11:30am PST most nights (or 12am to 6am for me, although I could probably stay up an extra hour or two some nights, and I could definitely stay up another couple of hours Friday and Saturday night, which I think converts to Thursday and Friday morning for you? IDK TIME ZONES ARE CONFUSING.) 3:30pm-6:30pm Monday PST (that's 10am-1pm Tuesday for me, as I have an unrecorded lecture then) 4:30pm-7:30pm Tuesday PST (11am-2pm Wednesday for me, another lecture I really can't skip) 6:30pm-9:30pm Wednesday PST (1-4pm, lecture) 6:30pm-9:30pm Sunday PST (ditto) Unfortunately, Tuesday afternoons I really can't do... But other than the above, I'll do anything I can to be available whenever everyone else is! (And even then when it comes to nighttime I can be flexible...!) |

Ok. I'm torn between two setups I've thought of. One was going along the line of Darchias' idea of a pusher. The other I was going to ask about the creation of a ship medical officer position. I'm leaning towards the healer just because of the similar stats in what I'd like to go with, but if you'd prefer not to have another position I completely understand. I did want to ask about general ship duties for the officers who didn't seem to be solely leadership oriented. Like would the supply officer have to work consciously to keep the ship stocked? Obviously the medical crew would have to heal and treat. I was just wondering how the general duties would be enforced. Edited by Felix9, Mar 4 2011, 10:08 AM.
