"In this game the players will serve as officers on a ship exploring the ocean and visiting new worlds during the age of sail. It will most likely be run via MapTools on Tuesday afternoons (Pacific Time). If the players find it inconvenient we may be able to find time on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or Wednesday as well. Although the tech level will be significantly lower than what it is in most PTA campaigns I will do my best to create era appropriate equivalents for technology based features/items/mechanics. Although there will be no contest halls or Pokemon league each place you visit will likely have its own local champion or contest like competition/ ritual. Although I intend to keep the campaign PG13 rated I would prefer to have players mature enough to handle any situation that may arise in character or otherwise. There are several officer positions open. Claim one and start building your character. I will post some backround and flavor information about the world in which the game is set for you to use when writing character background." Note the above is in quotes. I will be the second GM in the game, in charge of mechanics. The other GM (Weirdsound) will be in charge of story, and he hasn't told me a thing, except for the above and below. If you want to play, you need the following: * A concept (this is so we can put some nice delicious breadcrumbs around, metaphorically speaking) * A background (rank the aspects of your background from 0 to 10, 0 being common knowledge everywhere and 10 being the deepest secret you have. Of course, this was made up by me, not story guy, so feel free to disregard. It's not my fault if we accidentally reveal a 10'r if you don't specify it as such) * A description will be nice. * And some stats. Finally the mechanics! Each trainer starts at Trainer Level 7. During character creation you may take any class or feature that doesn’t require interaction with legendary Pokemon so long as you meet the stat/class requirements and justify any other requirements in your character background. (That's right kids, the rule of justification!) All officers start off with a single Pokemon who: A) can evolve, and B) is at most level 20. (I have no idea what the requirements for non-officers are, or even if they are allowed in. Post a reply so I can call him and ask!) That being said, let's look at the officer positions! *copypaste* Captain: You are in charge of the ship and everything that goes on aboard it. You have the final say in picking the course and objectives of the ship. You are expected to assist the other officers to the best of your ability, and to dole out discipline to unruly crew members. Almost any character build will work as the captain. Lieutenant: You lead the marines aboard the ship into battle against foes on shore and sea. The other officers generally differ to you in combat situations. You are expected to win battles with minimal loss of allied life. The Lieutenant character should be built in a way that makes him very capable of harming others, with either his Pokemon or his own body and weapons. Chaplin: You fill the void in the hearts of sailors by preaching the Word of Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza; the three gods of the kingdom of Fearowsland. The other officers typically differ to you in personnel matters or supernatural situations. The Chaplin may also be expected to do some missionary work and bring civilized religion and culture to the savages of the world. The Chaplin character should be built in a way that provides a strong connection with his fellow human and/or the supernatural elements of the world. Supply Officer: You provide for the physical needs of the ship and its crew. The other officers differ to you in situations of trade and loot distribution. You are expected to keep the crew of the ship supplied with food, medicine, fresh Pokemon, and other items. The Supply Officer character should be built in a way that allows him to easily create or find items and/or Pokemon. Quartermaster: You run the ship on a day to day basis, often manning the wheel, navigating, and managing the crew on deck. Other officers tend to differ to you unless they have a good reason not to. The Quartermaster is expected to keep the ship sailing smoothly and to prepare it to survive rough conditions. The Quartermaster character should be built in a way that favors navigation and/or management, however almost any build could work with this role. Here's the status of this game: Game: I'm sick. Sorry. SESSION FOUR: APRIL 12, 2011 2PM PDT Platform: MapTools 1.3 b84 Characters: REGISTRATION CLOSED Captain: Claimed by Jimmy 3 Skullz Lieutenant: Claimed by Ramiel Chaplin: Clamed by the strongest fai- I mean, Garlyle Supply Officer: Claimed by Felix9 Quartermaster: Claimed by AbashedPenny If there are any questions, please feel free to add to the topic. Damn, this campaign is awesome. I had a Pusher for the Supply officer half statted out in my head before I was done reading. Unfortunately, I can't do a maptools campaign. Good luck though. Shit, now I wanna do a Electric Ace Lieutenant because I realized all the Water/Grounds are freshwater 'mons. Damnit... Edited by Darchias, Mar 3 2011, 09:24 AM.

Hello KujiUn, I really like the concept you have going here. If I may ask though, what times would you be trying to play if you could be a little more specific? I have a rather rigid work schedule and I'm on the east coast unfortunately... I just wanted to see if I could make it work. I would rather not be the one person who screws up the time slot for you guys so it's alright if I can't. : ) If I were able to make it work and had to do an officer I'd probably prefer chaplain but I believe Garlyle should have first choice there since he posted first. But I also think Darchias had an awesome idea with the pusher supply officer so I wouldn't be opposed to pursuing that position. Unfortunately I'm not much of a leader both in and out of character so I'm sorry I can't really help with the harder spots to fill. ^^; Of course this is all if you'll allow me to join you and if I can make it work. Let me know please, and thank you. |

If you wanted Chaplain, I'd have no problem handing the role over to you XD I was considering doing Rain Maker/Ground Shaker (As a follower of Kyogre and Groudon and stuff, what better way to make people believe in their power than to channel them yourself!), but I've also played Psychic before and wouldn't mind the opportunity to test out a very different kind of character. ...So Yeah. |

Alright! Right now, the day of week (and even the platform) are in flux. We were thinking Tuesday afternoon (about 2-5 pm PST), but it may change to Saturday-Sunday as well. Also, I really can't say for sure we're doing MapTools, because I'm in charge of learning the platform, and all I can say is... it's a bit hard. We might change it to something easier (IRC, methinks.) |

MapTools isn't -too- hard to learn; what's more difficult, honestly, is continuing to create content for it on a timely basis. I'm a little less in favour of Saturday afternoon (Especially if it starts in the early afternoon), and will probably have to withdraw if it occurs on a Sunday though. Simply due to work. |

I have the tokens and the macros down, and the other is telling me he doesn't need complex maps, so yay! Hardly any work for me! EDIT: Tuesday afternoon will be our main time, most likely. Edited by KujiUn, Mar 3 2011, 12:19 PM.

I believe that will be doable for me if you'll have me. I'm in agreement with Garlyle on the day though. Saturday afternoon is a little less sure for me and so is sunday. But since you're 3 hours behind me that puts it... 5-8 EST which I should be able to do since I get off of work at 3:30 and an hour drive home. I do apologize if I am ever late though. I'll think up a character concept as well. I like your suggestion Garlyle, sounds fun, though I had an idea I want to look into when I get home. One question I did want to ask was what is the view on Rune master in this world? I just thought I should ask since perhaps it was considered blasphemy. ^^; Also, It's up to you Garlyle. Whichever you'd prefer. I've familiarized myself well with the system and everything but I haven't actually had the opportunity to play a character. I'm doing a practice GM thing for myself with a few friends on IRC before I start the real game I have in my head, and I'm part of a mystery dungeon adapt where I play as a Riolu. I've made characters, just never had the chance to rp them in a game. I do hope that's ok. perhaps I should have mentioned that before. ;>.> Edited by Felix9, Mar 3 2011, 12:52 PM.

This sounds like a pretty interesting setting. I can imagine a religious hierarchy with Godspeaker variants at the top claiming to have directly communed with the climate trio, Touched as some of the high priests/priestesses, cryptozoologists as theologians of the time, etc. Alas, I don't have time for another campaign.
