Due to events that have taken place in The Lost Campaign, several things have changed. We are looking for new players. The campaign runs friday afternoons, optimally running three separate smaller sessions for each group. Yes, you heard that right. The reason we're looking for more players is that the main cast that was playing the game is now splitting up into several areas, in smaller groups. So I'd like for them to be accompanied. Here's the info you need to know! The region: 2500 years before modern Pokemon times, the land where this campaign takes place is a stretch of land along the eastern coast of what we know as Japan, between the regions of Kanto/Johto and Sinnoh. Pokemon technology is extremely primitive, and Pokemon themselves are very dangerous - especially with the large number of Legendary pokemon that travel the area. It's like a bay of land, cut off from the world by an arc of insurpassable cliffs; in that land, a forested area to the north, rocky mountains to the west, gentle rivers and plains to the south, and islands in the ocean to the east. This diverse, natural world been mostly peaceful, with the four civilizations in the area keeping mostly to themselves. Then, one day, someone from the future was sent into the past... Player applicants will need to tell me two things: the time period they are from (Either Present or Past), and which region they wish to be at (West, North, or East). After this I'll PM you some details that may be relevant to your character, and ask you to build a full background and character sheet from that - this is information that you'd know in character and events that might be relevant to things. *Characters from the present, in general, had no idea what was going on - hell, they might still have no idea what's going on, depending on when they 'arrived' in the past. Even though everyone who was sent through time was moved at the same moment, not everyone ended up together. Present characters do not get arms features or weapons by default, because the present is peaceful; but they have access to a limited supply of Pokeballs and items from the future when they start. You'll have more Pokemon to start with than those from the present, but they won't be quite as strong; you'll also have full freedom on starting classes, but will start a trainer level lower and cannot access Wild Child. *Characters from the past, in general, are much deeper seeped in the traditions of the region they start in. Your connections to Pokemon, and the types of class you are likely to be, is largely dependant on which region you are originally from - the north, east, south, and west tribes each have their own very distinctive styles. You probably won't have much in the way of created items - only berries and such - but you will be trained with weaponry unlike those from the past. You'll also have fewer Pokemon (probably only one or two), but they'll be stronger. Classes will be restricted to your local region (plus Wild Child regardless of region), but you'll start with an extra trainer level. And a quick note on the regions: North: The most 'modern' of the four tribes. It's very interested in forming further bonds with Pokemon and has begun modernization thanks to some help from the past, creating Apricorn Balls in recent years. Past characters wanting to be Capture Experts, Ace Trainers, or Researchers start here. East: A spread of tropical islands with a very relaxed people, just seeking to continue a peaceful, mostly secluded existance. They've grown a sort of brotherly link with Pokemon. Local classes include Rangers (using some different mechanics), Breeders, and Co-ordinators. West: An extremely religious tribe on the western cliffs that makes their home among the rocks, worshipping a great many Pokemon, especially legendary ones. Have a very reverent link with Pokemon and the mystical. Local classes incldue Psychics, Mystics, and Martial Artists. The southern tribe is an extremely militaristic one, but for the purposes of this plot, player characters cannot begin there nor be from there. So yeah. Please just let me know a region you'd like to take part in, and what time period - I will send you further details more relevant to your character at that point, and we can work out further details. EDIT: There is no more room for further applicants! Edited by Garlyle, Jan 21 2011, 07:14 PM.

What sort of restrictions would be applied to a Ranger from the past? Also, would this be PbP, IRC,...? |

The campaign is run on MapTools. It could be done over IRC if people aren't able to get it to work though. As for the Ranger bit... well, that might actually be a secret. It might be less restrictions than you think, if you're willing to meet me halfway on something. I'll PM you tomorrow with a few more details, if you'd like. |

Alright, I understand some secrecy being involved in a campaign. I have been interested in giving a Maptools game a try, and I'm sure any limitations to the Ranger class itself won't bee too much of a problem for my character idea--basically a 'Pokemon are friends' ideology; consequentially he would refrain from using pokeballs and rely on his companion and befriended pokemon for confrontations. So I guess as long as that part of the ranger mechanics stay in tact I'd say I'm in. Otherwise I'll probably think of something else. |

Speculation here, but seeing as we're 2500 years in the past, I assume the changed mechanics mostly deal with the Stylus. Also, if you're interested in the 'Pokemon are Friends' ideology, take a look at the Wild Child. Might not be what you're looking for, but with some changed flavor it could work. I'm playing one (with modified flavor) in another campaign starting soon. Edited by Ramiel, Jan 12 2011, 10:54 PM.

I like the idea of Wild Child, but as just a basic class and one advance class(at the moment of writing this) I'd feel like I would be penalizing myself by choosing to go that route. Plus I'm trying to go for a 'nature-loving' not 'nature-obsessed' feel with my character and wild child tends to lean towards the latter. If my expectations aren't met, however it's certainly a class I'll take into consideration as an alternative. |

This would depend on what group you go with; the groups will probably start at 9AM, 12PM, and 3PM PST (so noon, 3PM, and 6PM EST). We'll try to work out which time slot works best for each group. I'll send out a few PMs with character sheet and story details to those interested today. Don't worry; we won't be starting until next Friday. |
