Gah, I can't help myself; I've got a great character concept already planned out in my head, though the details will rely heavily on the details of the realm of Lageross. But for the sake of fairness and possible time constraints, I'm putting my name on the back of the list, though I do secretly hope few enough people apply that I can join no problem. Excuse my ranting, I guess. |

Not to start with, unless you can give me a very good reason as to why this would be the case. If you would like to do that, please PM me about it. Don't worry. My homebrewed 'mons will be showing up in this campaign.
Feel free to catch me on IM if you need a big discussion regarding the world of Lagerros. Any information generated from our discussion will be posted here for future applicants. Edited by BigTentacruel, Jan 5 2011, 03:23 PM.

Oho, I have more information for you, boys and girls, developed after some questions from a player, which I believe pertinent to your applications. The application I received from Prospector conforms to these details, so you don't have to actually change anything unless you want to, Pros. Anyway (and this might apply to Pros if he wants), I'm going to start by saying that if you so desire, your character will be gifted one free weapons proficiency of your choice. You will have to explain to me why it is that you have gained some kind of skill in that weapon, but saying something as simple as "Gary Motherfucking Oak learned fencing as a boy from a tutor." will suffice. I don't care much about the PHB's limitations thereof, and if your character makes sense to wield a glaive, then by all means, take polearm proficiency, even if you're playing something like an Ace Trainer or something. Class does not matter to me, nor do stats in that regard. All weapons' damage and accuracy will be controlled by your own strength or dexterity, not by the stat listed in the book. (/rant that I'm houseruling on weapons proficiencies...) Anyway, on to what I have developed so far as the world goes. Lagerros is a land seemingly situated in a sort of backwater time period. Their ability to manufacture is limited mostly by their space upon which to build. An island chain prevents them from farming much, and with the dangers of the mainland, the general populace lives on the islands that circulate around the mainland. Because of this, there is no space to build extensive farmland, and the region survives mostly on a fish diet. There is little room for larger airplanes, though the smaller type, two to four seaters (and a little bigger in some cases) exist. Computers exist, though this region lacks a kind of network that exists in our world, an internet, mostly because of an isolationism in the culture, not just in the physical nature of the region. People have a tendency to live in smaller, tight-knit communities rather than in bigger metropolises. Naturally, because of this, we experience a greater chance of smaller indigenous peoples existing separate from society. These peoples may range from communes not unlike the Amish of our world, who try to live as simply as possible, to monks who occupy large temples seeking enlightenment all the while, to tribe of people who have simply lacked the sort of technogical advancements of the cities for reasons mostly dependent upon their society. Perhaps they exist in the jungles of the mainland, where the dangers of the wild prevent much contact with society. As above, the climate of Lagerros is much more sub-tropical than temperate. On the mainland, jungles thrive and a desert burns, a sign of the type of nature that exists. As one travels further north or south of the mainland, the climate changes drastically, in an almost impossible manner. The lands within a good sized radius of the mainland have a climate not unlike the mainland's, hot and wet and generally tropical. However, on the fringe of the region, there exists an ice wall, the existence of which is still somewhat unexplained due to proximity to warmer waters. Just towards the edge of the ice wall, temperate lands exist, and islands have a greater tendency to be stationary rather than to orbit. Near this area are the taiga lands, the coniferous forests, the tundras. Bizarrely, the islands that orbit the mainland stabilize in climate, and despite their alteration in latitude, their weather patterns remain constant. Science has failed to explain why these islands defy nature in their existence, but suffice to say that climate in this region is measured more by proximity to the mainland than by lateral measure. (And if you think that this is me copping out on you, I promise there's a reason for all of this.) |

I would definitely be interested in playing, but I'm pretty busy until like the 21st of January. When were you planning on starting this? |

I don't suppose you could give us a map or a general paint pic to give us a little preveiw of the land? |

I'm interested in this, but pose two questions: 1. Where can I find the list of 'completed' 5th Gen pokes? 2. Does IRC work on Macs? Sorry if that sounds stupid, but I'm not really a mac-user, despite being stuck with one. XD |

Synthesse: I will begin play when I have sufficient players. Provided you supply me with a character soon, I will reserve a spot for you for when your schedule opens up. There may even be a chance we don't get enough players until then, so I suggest you go for it if you really want to play. Which reminds me, here's how my schedule works (I live in EST, so all times are listed thusly...): Sunday: Anytime BEFORE 4 PM. Monday: Anytime AFTER 4:00 PM Tuesday: Anytime AFTER 6:00 PM Wednesday: Anytime after 6:00 PM Thursday + Friday: Probably a no. I am participating in games those days. Saturday: Anytime! All times are listed as my current schedule stipulates. This is subject to change as the year progresses, however it will usually get easier as things proceed. Drewski: As a general statement, no, but this is mostly due to the shifting nature of the land. I can provide a rough sketch if there is sufficient reason to do so, but the map I have is mostly for GM reference. The people of Lagerros, due to their isolationist natures, don't make many maps and seafarers navigate by lighthouses and stars. Given sufficient reason, I will provide one though. What do you need it for? (You will see a map at SOME point, but this world is being built dynamically, as I stated in a previous post.) EDIT: ForteZanzo: Sorry for missing you the first time. I don't use a Mac myself and haven't in roughly three years, but I have often heard Colloquy is the best for IRC on the Mac, and the list of 5th gens is in a thread around here somewhere. One second and I'll find a link. EDIT EDIT: 5th Generation Pokemon, homebrewed by the P:TA community! EDIT EDIT EDIT: ONE MOOOOOORE THING. We'll be using rules set 1.12, even though it doesn't have my pretty, all-fixed-up bookmarks. This means nature tables should be adapted appropriately. Edited by BigTentacruel, Jan 6 2011, 04:55 PM.

Thanks! That helped a lot. Taking another look at the setting, I've come up with what I think will be a nice background for my character... Mick Spoiler: click to toggle |

Pants-Lizard is acceptable, however I need a list of your features. I suppose that's pertinent to add to the character template. It appears your gifted weapon feat is Hand-To-Hand and your first feature is Martial Artist? Is this correct? |
