Question about starters - are we still going by the other standard requirements? IE that starters should have at least one evolution in their family tree so the Pokemon can grow more along with its trainer and that starter Pokemon should have relatively the same base stat totals and rarity levels.

I worry that especially with a 'dark' themed campaign, it'd be difficult to balance encounters if someone starts with a substantially more powerful Pokemon than the other trainers.

I sent you my character via PM - I think most of what you asked for was in there, but let me know if there's anything missing.

Ah yes, I seem to have forgotten that detail. You're absolutely right. Your Pokemon must have a single evolution in their family tree (very few exceptions, one of which is up for questions due to character background and Pokemon being asked for. It's not really too powerful in my eyes so I'll probably allow it).

To be perfectly honest with you I will be planning the encounters around what is given to me, not just 'I hope you guys make it' mindset at the beginning. Don't expect that to be a forever thing though, sometimes flight is the better part of valor.

Yeah, it's worth it to pin down at least one evolution requirement for the Pokemon companion you start with; the difference between starting with a Tauros compared to a Murkrow compared to a Turtwig is... it can be pretty severe.

I'll throw up a sheet here shortly (Not right now as I have to head out). I have a trainer I was itching to use, but the campaign he was originally set for fell through, and he works pretty well with one of the newer classes~

Well, I still had a question I wanted to ask you, Rio, but you, like, totally ignored me on Skype so I'll just post it here.

Do you have a day/time in mind? Also, in which time-zone do you live? Since I live in the Netherlands (GMT+1) it can very well be I simply can't join.

I love all the general info you've posted about the game, everything sounds perfect to me. I'll try and flesh out the stuff I've already PM'd you into an actual character, hopefully tonight sometime. If you've got any requirements/things to consider/suggestions, tell me; my imagination isn't really the most active, unfortunately.

Also, is everyone starting at level 0, or slightly higher?

I vote we start at level 1; at least that way we can start as our first class.

Starting at level 0 always seemed... awkward to me. Anyway, time to work on that character sheet. So that I can submit it once we get a starting level.

Level 1 sounds good. I don't think we should go higher than that, seeing that we're still basically novice trainers with one starter Pokemon at level 5.

Agreed. Level 1 makes things more interesting, allows people to test the water more with the new setting. Starting level is lvl 1, with a lvl 5 starter Pokemon.
