I'd love to join as a player. I've already GM'd two campaigns using the system, so it'd be nice to get in on it as a player.

Of course I've seen them. I've also told you to move them to the homebrewski thread, not that you listened. :P
I still really want to see a dark campaign, it would be awesome to give the players a reason to actually fight.
1. > Implying I have the ability to move threads because I'm not gonna just waste people's time repostan' shit.

2. I can probably make it dark. I'll have to think about it. Also, I realize people don't want to do the whole gym deal usually, but trust me, if I make a gym, it'll be worth it. How's this for an idea? The gym is actually a Giant Island Wailord/HomebrewTurtle and the game is Pokemon Manhunt. First to put the opposing trainer unconscious is the winner.

BigTentacruel, would you mind if I called you Tenta, or something else a little shorter?
That Gym sounds awesome. Heres some more ideas; How bout a Gym match with an odd amount of pokemon on the field? Maybe a 6 on 6 fight? Or how bout a gym where our whole playing group has to team up to fight the gym leader?

Actually the last bit is the idea with this gym. It's kind of a gym battle I intend to take a couple of sessions. >.> I'm not sure yet, but it might involve some kind of battle royale thing or all the trainers against the leader. I'll have to work out the kinks. Regardless, in game, the gym battle could take a few days. It'll be fun. :D As far as odd numbers of pokemon go, I'll probably have the gym leader put out as many pokemon as the player team does, to even the odds, but only if they're teamed up against him. It gives them a disadvantage because if they get captured first, then their pokemon is ineligible for the badge winning but it gives them an advantage because they only have to catch him. He has to get all of the PCs down.

Edit: You can call me whatever you like, Drewski.

Sorry for derailing your guys conversation, but back RioCadaro's campaign. Have we decided on which program were going to use?

Oh and here is my character concept:

Cornelius Prospector aka “Prospector” ;)

Spoiler: click to toggle

He'll be a researcher/petrologist/breeder.

I think I have my concept too.

"Tom Riddle" I not sure on the name yet.
Spoiler: click to toggle

I think I'm going to make "Tom" either a Dark type Ace or an Engineer. Preferably both if you let me cross class like Stark might be adding. He talks about it in this thread. Cross Classing

Couple of cool Ideas we might want to check out Variant Rules

I sent in a (probably way, way, way too long) description of my character concept to RioCadaro. Here's a shortened version though:

Name: Klaus Ehrlich
Projected Class Setup: Capture Specialist/Engineer/Artificer or Capture Specialist/Engineer/Petrologist if crossclassing is allowed.

Spoiler: click to toggle

What kind of standards are we talking about for starters? There's quite a gap between both the power and rarity of a Pokemon like Cranidos and one like Pidgey. I'd want to go with Porygon if we're allowed to have Pokemon that are somewhat more rare than usual and Mareep if we have more mundane choices. I can write up an origin story for how Klaus received his Pokemon later if necessary.

Interesting. . . there's over a half dozen people posting interest in this thread, and maybe more who PM'd Rio directly. Wonder what he'll do. Though with BT planning his own campaign soon (right?), leaving people out shouldn't be a big issue.

I did send Rio a bit of a character concept, though I've still a lot to flesh out, and I'd rather not post anything yet.

Well, just to let you guys know over the past day or so I've come up with a rough concept of what kind of world you'll be in. I plan to construct this world of my own accord (new continent, cities, custom classes to fit those, etc) with its own new set of good and bad folk. I certainly hope you guys have some RP experience, because I'm a tabletop gamer who stresses the use of roleplay (I'm a sucker for using what abilities I have being able to shift in character :P). You might get some of my influences too if you're a gamer, but if not I hope you enjoy this.

I suppose now would be a good time to post the gist of what I'm looking for in a character, what's allowed and what's not eh?

General Information:
-The key word that has been suggested to me on a few cases is "dark". Looks like I have a crowd that's a sucker for pain and suffering eh? I'll try to keep the plot as dark as I can. I have a concept that will hopefully churn hearts and get people to think.

-Less mainstream levels, more GM awarded levels for Trainers. Just throwing that out there. Doesn't mean Badges, Ribbons, and Marks won't be around though :3

-This is homebrew setting, plot, and equipment, with the possibility of homebrew Pokemon. I'm hesitant on the last one, but if not homebrew entirely I may try Delta Pokemon.

-I expect the Trainers to be like Trainers and know their Pokemon, not just their types and weaknesses. There's more practical uses of Pokemon than battling, and in this setting you WILL need it to survive and prosper. Their abilities will be quite useful and can help speed up certain things too.

-I'm very strong for Pokemon vs Trainer concept this Tabletop setting has presented me. I have my own style of hit confirmation for Pokemon -> Trainer and Trainer->Pokemon attacks, as well as Combat Stage alteration for Trainers. If you've played D&D 3.5, these concepts will be familiar to you, I'm sure.

-Starter Pokemon: As I stated to one of the interested individuals, I am allowing starters that follow these requirements:
*The Pokemon will be starting at lvl 5, no matter what they normally start at. Should a Pokemon not have any attacks capable of dealing direct damage, I will review said Pokemon and assign one Egg or TM move to the Pokemon with an appropriate explanation as to why the Pokemon has it.
*Abilities of Pokemon will be selected by me. Natures, however, are free to the Trainer to pick for their Starter. Other Pokemon captured will have their Natures determined by me.
*No Legendaries! It should be obvious why this isn't allowed.
*If you start with a Professor-specific Starter, your background story must include how you came to get the Pokemon from the Professor.
*No Homebrew Pokemon. As much as I'd love to see what you guys have come up with, let's get our feet wet first, then talk homebrew, okay?
*Stat disbursement is per the Player's Handbook. I have heard of other ways of promoting stat points to make them seem like they're growing 'better'. However, what basis do you have for strength? Your opponents and whatever else I put you up against. If you guys feel differently, let me know and we'll sort it out.

-I treat this GMing experience much like any other RP experience I do. Your character's background, as well as their personality and actions, are very important to helping the story be as entertaining as possible. I'm not saying you have to have a huge amount of experience with RPing, I'm just saying put your best effort forward. If it's not fun for the group, I have to put more effort into it, and we don't want the GM to have more power than he already has, now do we? ;)

-If you have any questions, PLEASE let me know. Suggestions are always worth a shot too.

I guess it'd help if I put down a general description of what a character sheet should look like right? By character sheet, I mean the description of your character. A few of you have already submitted something relatively close to this, and I'm lovin' it :3. I'd like to see you post your characters up here, but if you feel it better, PM me the sheet and I'll look it over :D

Here's the general gist of your character sheet:

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Height/Weight:
Hair Color:
Eye Color:
Build (Skinny, muscular, fat, etc):
Starter Pokemon: Remember, if it's a Professor-specific Pokemon or something rather out there, background should tell me why you have it.

Physical description: This is where you tell me what kind of clothes they wear or anything else my eyes should catch when I see your character.

Background/History: Just give me a history of what's happened prior to arriving to the area I'm creating. Until I post a plot synopsis with details of the location you're starting at, I'd rather you NOT make an approach as to WHY you're there. Expect this to come up very soon, if not today. Be sure to include details about why the person is training/owning Pokemon, their upbringing, etc.

***This section is VERY IMPORTANT should you be aiming to obtain something off the bat or have some sort of influence in future events. If it makes sense, you have a better chance of getting it. There's almost never a such thing as a free lunch, though ;).***

Other important details: Quirks, persona, habits, phobias, or anything else you deem as vital to describing your character. :3

I don't expect a huge showstopper profile. Do it in your style, to the best of your ability. If something's not clear, I'll let you know and ask you to revise it. Otherwise, have fun with it. This will be you in the campaign, after all, so make it something you'll enjoy being :D
