Yo. I'm Weirdsound. I've just recently gotten into tabletop gaming. I'm more interested in GMing than playing, as I consider myself a world builder and a story teller. I don't post on many forms, and I can't be arsed to figure out IRC, but I lurk in many communities. I often go by weirdsound, but on Pokemon related sites I go by Xomofchaos (This community already has a Xom though...) I'm currently running one campaign live, one with another GM over maptools, and am planning an awesomely spectacular one that I will run over the summer in some capacity. |

'Lo. Been on here lurking a while after I started playing in a Pokémon tabletop game, finally registered. We're enjoying it, but dammit if we haven't been doing some dumb stuff (like leaping into Thundershocks and watching our fresh-out-of-the-box GM adjudicate Karate Chop nutshots). Expect tales of general dumbassery and questions to match. And now, back to reading through the forum. Hot damn. |

I shall reminisce with my comrades and regale the board with tales of our derring-derp. I'd skip the reminiscing part if I could remember what the hell we've done so far, or what the other group has done. There were 10-12 people who wanted to play Pokémon, so our GM started the party as a big group and then split us into two smaller parties that game on different nights. |

yea thats a good call on your gms part that is way to many people for a single gm to take on at once even the most skilled gms would have trouble maintaining order during downtime for the other 1-11 players. |

Hello, I'm Volratho, or Vol for short... I have been lurking on the boards for awhile now and figured it is about time i start posting. I have been a tabletop gamer for many years. I joined this site because a bunch of friend coaxed me into GMing (PMing?; Pokemon Mastering?) a Pokemon game. This will be my first major attempt to run a game instead of playing one. I will mostly be lurking on the site but i will probably post if i see something fun or exciting that interests me. I might even go ahead and post some of the tales from my campaign if I get permission from my players. See you guys around. |

Hello Vol....sorry about the pillars of holy fire and mace smashin, I play Eberron, and the Blood of Vol is an evil undead cult, I play clerics, these things happen right? And now for the 3 tips I give every new GM...or LO (League Official) in this case. 1. Be prepared to say 'yes' to anything that isn't stupid, disruptive, unfair, or impossible. It's hard to let players try new things your not sure how to handle, but remember it's not fun to have no options or freedom of choice. 2. Keep 4-5 'junk drawer' encounters on hand for when your players are getting bored and about to do something stupid, for when the players go off the beaten path, or for when the game session outlasts the material you had on hand. The last one happens when something you thought would take the players a while went by quickly and smoothly. Players solve puzzles faster, get lucky in combat, and get through mazes on the first try more often than LOs think. I would have 2 of the encounters be trainer battles and the rest be wilds, but feel free to play with those numbers. 3. Be Prepared! Even if you like me and can do improv like it's breathing like I can. Seriously I improved an entire undead filled mansion ruled over by a vampire lord in less than 20 minutes. But I then took the time post session to fill it out on the first and second floors and especially the basement where the party would most likely head first. Naturally they went to the second floor first, but as it was already prepared it wasn't THAT big a deal. Anyway, the point is that no matter how creative you are, it pays to be prepared. For example, take a few hours one day and just stat out the first three gym leaders, decide what their basic strategy with each pokemon is, write that down, and flesh out their personalities. |

all good advise kriss, to re-affirm his point about being prepaired my group has yet to visit their first gym battle yet but i already have the first 5 gyms written down for 2 reasons. 1. the freedom of movement some of your players may decided they dont like the area around the next gym (an ocean, a forest, or a volcano for some decent examples) figuring that they are most likely a water grass or fire gym that they arent prepared for just yet so they turn around the exact opposite direction and head to the_____ gym instead. 2.once your players get some momentum going their may be no stopping them. what was suppose to be a 2 hour session could become an all night marathon or what was suppose to take them 4 session with lines and lines of story and plot/plot encounters and random encounters may be steamrolled in just 1 |

Hello all. I actually haven't been lurking any before joining -- well, not too much, just a few days at most -- I'm joining a PTA game on a different forum, so I figured I should join the forum here as well. I'm no new RPer, but it should be a nice change to be a Player instead of a DM/GM/LO. |
