I was a little surprised that I couldn't find anything about this when I searched for it, but someone had to do it. Honedge is... a sword. Obviously. It and all its evolutions seem in particular to be broadswords, a pretty basic and standard sword type. As we all know, basic and standard is not enough to satisfy some players. Some people want a sentient club, or a claymore, or a whole host of other weapons. My player, in particular, is a ronin and wants a ghost katana as a two-handed weapon. Well, okay, I said, but what about when it evolves? And then he said well, what if I just had two katanas? Okay, I said, so does that mean when it becomes an Aegislash that you have a third one floating around you for defense? Much to my chagrin, he said yes. This idea is ridiculous and I love it, but I have no clue how to reconcile the change in concept from a sword and shield to three katanas. This is his starter, and he's okay with sticking with it for 30 levels until it evolves, but how do I make this work? Should it just functionally be the same as a regular Aegislash? What if someone wanted their Honedge to just be a shield? |

Well, there's some stuff on page 34 of the Game of Throhs book on alternate Honedges. You could look there for inspiration. |

gonna spit ball an idea Honedge’s Adept Move: Strike vitals( renamed bullseye) Doublade’s Adept Move: Double swipe Aegislash’s Adept Move: take aim Aegislash’s Master Move: Slice Move: Blade Tempest Type: Steel Frequency: Scene AC: None Class: Status Range: Self, Interrupt, Shield, Trigger Effect: If the user is hit by an attack, the user may use Blade Tempest. The user is instead not hit by the Move. You do not take any damage nor are you affected by any of the Move’s effects. In addition, All foes adjacent to the user lose a tick of health |

What's he gonna do, hold the third katana in his mouth? Ha ha h- Ah, right. Well, I'd consider starting with swapping King's Shield/Stance Change for something more offensively-oriented, since you're removing a shield for a third katana (which is one of the most offensively oriented blades out there). Polycephaly comes to mind as a strong Ability option, while some sort of Steel-Type Triple Kick might be a cool replacement for King's Shield. As Truebutler says, more offensive Weapon Moves are also a plus. Drop Iron Defense for something like Hone Claws, and maybe drop Iron Head for earlier access to Metal Claw? |

Well, I'm sure this is terribly unbalanced. Katana Honedge Katana Doublade Katana Aegislash Oh, before you go "WTF Steel Wing?", tell me Silvally and Drampa have wings. Edited by l33tmaan, Jul 26 2017, 06:51 PM.

Two comments: "Large Melee Weapons raise the AC of the Attack by +1, and raise the Damage Base by +2. Large Melee Weapons are two-handed." And, for Swordsman's Pride... That is strong. Normally the tradeoff for the protection moves, is that they eat up your attack. Allowing you to still maintain that, even in a limited capacity, is really good. Especially because, as written, it allows you to be stabbed by a guy next to you, and then launch, say, a Shock Wave at a guy on the other side of the battlefield. Or a self-targeting status move, which means you basically don't care about having to use the protection move. There are no restrictions on move type or target. |

Good catch, I noted that you get a free melee attack. Plus now it's not a fully defensive move, but you can still avoid a chunk of damage with it.

Somewhat off-topic, but in this case just give them a Bronzor instead. That's shield-like. I know it's a "bronze mirror", but that doesn't mean it doesn't look like a shield. Maybe change up it's evolution because a giant bell probably doesn't appeal to a player that specifically wants a shield-based pokemon, even if it is a great wall. New Capability: Living Shield New Ability: Shield Guardian I can't really think of anything special to change about Bronzong mechanically to make "Shield Bronzong", aside from the ability and capability mentioned above, but it'd look like a large shield of some sort rather than a bell. |

That's a great idea that I'm going to use, but don't forget that the playtest has Heavy and Light Shields consolidated into a Shield that gives +1 Evasion. |
