One quality shared by many pokemon is the ability to go through a spontaneous form of metamorphosis, commonly called "evolution" by the regular community. This can occur either as a stage of growth in a pokemon's life cycle or as a result to certain stimuli. It is, however, not a true form of evolution as it has individuals changing instead of entire populations, but the term is much faster to say than "Spontaneous Metamorphosis" as the professors call it. For trainers, something like this is very common an inevitably seen within their entire careers. However, some of the pokemon they find along their adventures are not so easily changed. Some may require an elemental stone while others require very complicated methods to evolve. One of the most complicated ways for pokemon to evolve is through trades while carrying certain held items and, given this is a tabletop game, it's completely up to the GM what happens if you attempt such a method. It can get pretty bad if you come across a trainer who willing to trade for your scyther, holding metal coat, to evolve it into scizor, only to not want to give it back. Also, there is the problem of actually finding or convincing someone if they actually want to trade in the first place. That's where this thread comes in to help with these issues, but possibly create new ones. These are some concepts of items or methods you can use to evolve your pokemon. Evolution Serum ![]() Within the labs of Team Rocket, they discovered a hormone in pokemon blood that controls evolution within the body. If it is injected into the creature in a high concentration, it will cause the pokemon to immediately evolve. the major drawbacks of this method is that it causes the pokemon to become enraged and confused while preventing it from ever learning any more moves. It is also considered cruel as the pokemon appears to be in constant pain after all this and is thus illegal in most regions. E-Signals Another method found by Team Rocket was the discovery of a radio wave frequency that can stimulate the glands that produce the evolution hormone. The incident at the Lake of Rage was caused by this as many of the lake's magikarp population evolved into enraged gyarados. The most remembered one was the shiny or red gyarados that created the most havoc. Different frequencies have also been found to evolve other species. However, just like the serum, this is illegal for causing the pokemon to become enraged and confused. The only good side to it is that, once the stimulus is gone, the pokemon can level and learn new moves normally. Kafka Chamber This is probably one of the better methods of evolving pokemon. The chamber simulates the jolt of energy from trade machines that cause certain pokemon to evolve. This device is very rare and usually found in laboratories for pokemon research. They're also very expensive to use. People who own them charge a fee that can cost you a few nuggets. |
