I think it was intended to be TCG exclusive, and to give normal Pokemon a fighting chance against the powerful Pokemon-EX (and now Pokemon-GX.) |

I don't think I got my point across right. It's clearly supposed to be a boost in power of some kind, but what's the best way to translate that to PTX? In the cards, it's just an HP boost and a unique move/ability, but would it just be the same on tabletop? I could see that in tandem with the 'temporary non-mega evolution' aspect - mega evolutions already say that the HP cannot be changed, so why not use Break Evolution to change it? Just give it something like +3 HP and +3 to any other stats, distributed as makes sense for the pokemon, plus whatever unique stuff you think makes sense. |

(Quick note: my favored system is PTU. Haven't looked at PTA yet, so I don't know much about it, other than it was based on D&D 4e) Increasing the HP stat by any amount, alas, is a nightmare for players and GMs- not only does your max HP change, but your current HP changes as well. I would if I thought I could handle the bookkeeping, but I won't. Due to the more general nature of BREAK Evolution, I'll probably stick with something simpler, like this: 1) +3 to any three stats of your choice, except HP 2) The Pokemon gains 1 ability from its ability list that it does not currently have That being said, that is how I, personally, would do it. If you want to walk a different path, by all means, go with what works best for you. This is a homebrew system, after all. |

Does your idea allow for Break Evolution to let a pokemon snag all 5 of their abilities at high levels or is that too much? |

A bit much, I think. Though it could potentially give a Pokemon 4 abilities, similar to Mega Evolution. The jury's still out on the whole "get an extra move" thing. |

A Pokémon can normally get 4 of their abilities, though, due to a Pokédge they can snag at level 60. This would give them 5 when coupled with that. |

How much weaker do you want them to be than Mega Evolutions? I'm guessing roughly a third, but it always helps to make sure. |

... Did no one even look at my idea of using temp HP to emulate the increase to HP that BREAK evolution normally gives in the tcg? It would be a nice, flat, static increase without causing headache since it doesn't force anyone to do more math. |

I actually thought that was the best idea. I guess I thought it was so good that everyone else thought it was, too. So what, like a flat +30 HP? Half your level's worth of HP? |

I.... I don't think I did! Would a flat boost of Temporary HP act as a sort of timer (i.e., you run out and the Pokemon reverts to normal?) |
