Virtuoso: 6 dice or 8?

This is my first time doing a campaign in this system, and I had a question about how precisely Virtuoso works (or how other people are ruling it). From my initial read-over, it sounded like it would have you roll 8 dice, since the number of dice you roll is equal to your rank in that stat. However, one of my players brought up the fact that the edge itself never says anything about altering the dice roll, just the rank. Thoughts?

I can't answer your question, but I can direct you to the General Q&A thread.

For the sake of having the answer down: Virtuoso treats your Rank in the skill as 8 for skills that specfically state using Rank. An example of this would be Dynamism, which uses your Guile Rank as an initiative bonus. Your dice are unaffected.

For questions like this in the future, General Q&A is the best place to put them. :)

Thank you! It's my first time here, so I wasn't exactly sure where to put this ^_^ .

Now that's RAW, my group has been doing 8d6 for all of our games. The reason for that is we feel a level 50 Martial Artist should have a massive edge in grappling with a level 15 guy. It does raise the power level of the game a little bit but we feel it makes someone who's a

Homebrew belongs on the homebrew forum.
I mean, that's more a houserule than homebrew. Also, it's still valid to answer "This is RAW, but this is how my group does it, and this is how it's worked out" if that's something that comes up naturally in discussions.

Having homebrew forums doesn't mean that everything not Rules As Written must go in there. Seeing how different groups do different things can be very productive, and can contribute to a healthy discussion.

Yeah, let him make an entire thread just for a single addendum to one edge.
